FIN_GL_CI_1: External Plan Data Transfer to New General Ledger Accounting(New)

Use

From SAP ECC 6.0, Enhancement Package 3, Business Function New General LedgerAccounting, you can use the Business Application Programming Interface (BAPI) forTransferring Plan Data to New General Ledger Accounting (BAPI_FAGL_PLANNING_POST)to transfer plan data from an external data source to new General Ledger Accounting. Witheach callup, the transfer to a ledger is possible for a plan version, a company code, and a fiscalyear. You can also transfer values for selected periods of a fiscal year.

For balance sheet accounts, the system applies the settings for portraying periodic plan values:

o If you plan balance sheet changes in the target client, you have to provide the changevalues for each period.

o If you plan cumulated balance sheet values in the target client, you have to provide thecumulated values for each period.

For more information on portraying periodic plan values, see the Release Note on CumulativePlan Data Entry for Balance Sheet Accounts.

For the transfer of account assignments, the system checks whether they exist and checks theirvalidity. If you only want the system to transfer plan data records that meet specific criteria, usethe Business Add-In (BADI) Additional Validation of Plan Data (BADI_GL_PLANNING).

Effects on Existing Data

If you use the BAPI to transfer data for a characteristic combination (plan version, companycode, fiscal year, and ledger) for which values are already stored, the system overwrites theexisting values.

Effects on Data Transfer

The BAPI enables the plan data to be transferred from an external data source to new GeneralLedger Accounting.

Effects on Customizing

You make the Customizing settings for this function in Customizing for General LedgerAccounting (New) under Planning -> External Plan Data Transfer.

FIN_GL_CI_1: Cumulative Plan Data Entry for Balance Sheet Accounts (New)Use

From SAP ECC 6.0, Enhancement Package 3, Business Function New General LedgerAccounting, you can choose during manual planning whether you want to plan balance sheetchanges or cumulated balance sheet values. The setting is made at the client level and appliesto all company codes in the client.

When planning cumulated balance sheet values, you can carry forward balances for plan data. The system considers the balance carryforward values when determining the balance sheetvalues for the individual periods but does not display them separately. Only in Reporting canyou display balance carryforward values separately.

Effects on Existing Data

If you activate planning for cumulated balance sheet values, the system displays existing plandata on balance sheet accounts for manual planning in accordance with the logic described. However, this does not result in any changes to the existing plan data.

Effects on Customizing

You make the Customizing settings for this function in Customizing for General LedgerAccounting (New) under Planning -> Activate Cumulative Plan Data Entry for BalanceSheet Accounts.

If necessary, you can activate this function in Customizing independently of the other functionsin the New General Ledger Accounting business function. The function is not activatedautomatically when the business function is activated.

FIN_GL_CI_1: Transferring PCA Reports (New)Use

As of SAP ECC 6.0, Enhancement Package 3, Business Function New General LedgerAccounting you can transfer Report Writer or Report Painter reports from Profit CenterAccounting to New General Ledger Accounting.

The tool for transferring reports helps you as follows:

o You can choose a source and target library.

o Together with the reports, the system also transfers dependent objects (such as, sets) tothe new environment when necessary. This is necessary when the field name haschanged, for example.

o You can use Substitution for fields in the report. This means you can replace theaccount number from Profit Center Accounting with the cost element in New GeneralLedger Accounting, for example.

o You can perform the report transfer either in a test run or in an update run. It is alsopossible to perform it in batch mode.

o Before the reports are actually transferred, the system analyses whether the existingreports of the Profit Center Accounting can be transferred. The reports to be transferredare subdivided for this as follows:

- reports that can be easily transferred

- reports that may require subsequent work

- reports that cannot be transferred

o The report transfer is evaluated in detailed logs that are saved when an update run takesplace.

In addition to the Library OFL: New General Ledger, you can also use Library 0FS: FI-GL(new): Totals + Stat. Indicator for reporting on the basis of statistical key figures.

Effects on Customizing

To be able to use the Report Writer or Report Painter reports, you must have assigned thescenario Profit Center Update to at least one ledger in Customizing for Financial Accounting(new).

To transfer the Report Writer or Report Painter reports, perform activity Transport Report inCustomizing for General Ledger Accounting (New).

To display the logs on the report transfers, perform activity Display Report Transport Log inCustomizing for General Ledger Accounting (new).

If you are using your own table group, you must create the corresponding libraries yourself. Youcan however use libraries 0FL and 0FS as a template.

You may have to create new key figures and then activate them in the target library after thereport transfer.

FIN_GL_CI_1: Fields EPRCTR and HOART in Reports (New)Use

As of SAP ECC 6.0, Enhancement Package 3, Business Function New General LedgerAccounting you can use the following fields in reports:

o You can define reports with elimination of internal business volume using the fieldElimination Profit Center (ZZEPRCTR).

o You can use the field Type of Origin Object (ZZHOART) in reports.

Effects on Customizing

To use field ZZEPRCTR in reports you must do the following:

o Include field ZZEPRCTR in the totals table for New General Ledger Accounting. To do this, perform activity Include Fields in Totals Table in Customizing for Financial Accounting(New).

o Implement the BusinessAdd-In (BAdI) Derive Elimination Profit Center(FAGL_DERIVE_EPRCTR)

o To get the Elimination Profit Center field instead of the Profit Center field in theReport Writer or Report Painter reports with elimination of internal business volume, perform activity Set Elimination Profit Center for Reports with Elimination of InternalBusiness Volume in Customizing for General Ledger Accounting (New) .

o Include the ZZEPRCTR field in the relevant reports. To use field ZZHOART in reports you must do the following:

o Include the field in the totals table for New General Ledger Accounting. To do this, perform activity Include Fields in Totals Table in Customizing for Financial Accounting(New).

FIN_GL_CI_1: Authorization Check for Profit Centers (New)Use

From SAP ECC 6.0, Enhancement Package 3, Business Function New General LedgerAccounting, you can define profit center authorizations for posting, displaying, and clearingdocuments. When you have activated the authorization check for profit centers, the systemreacts as follows:

o A document can only be posted if the user has authorization for all profit centers to whichpostings were made in the document. The authorization check is performedsimultaneously during data entry.

o For manual clearing, the system only selects those open items that, in accordance withthe general ledger view, make postings to profit centers that are initial or for which theuser is authorized.

o For document display, the system only displays those line items for which the profitcenters are initial or in which postings are made to authorized profit centers.

Note:The authorization check for profit centers does not enable transactions to be processed entirelyfrom the point of view of profit centers. This means, for example, that automatic paymentprocesses and automatic clearing continue to be performed centrally and not specific to profitcenters - even when the authorization check is activated for profit centers.

Effects on Customizing

The following prerequisites must be met before profit center authorizations can be issued:

o In Customizing for Financial Accounting (New), you have activated the scenario ProfitCenter Update for at least one ledger.

o You have assigned the authorizations for the desired profit centers in the user’s profile.

In Customizing for Financial Accounting Global Settings (New), you then perform the activityActivate Authorization Check for Profit Centers.

If necessary, you can activate this function in Customizing independently of the other functionsin the New General Ledger Accounting business function. The function is not activatedautomatically when the business function is activated.

FIN_GL_CI_1: Switch to Open Item Management (New)Use

From SAP ECC 6.0, Enhancement Package 3, Business Function New General LedgerAccounting, you can subsequently apply open item management for G/L accounts with lineitem management.

The system handles the switch to open item management as follows: The system generallyperforms write-offs to achieve a balance of zero in the account in every currency. Once thewrite-offs have been posted successfully, the system makes ledger-specific transfer postings toensure that the balance is zero for each ledger and account assignment. The system thenactivates open item management and clears all existing open items. After this clearing, youhave the option of having the system repost the amounts that were initially written off.

You can choose between ordinary open item management and open item management forclearing specific to ledger groups.

For more information, see the documentation on report FAGL_SWITCH_TO_OPEN_ITEM.

Effects on Customizing

To perform the switch to open item management, go to Customizing for General LedgerAccounting (New) and perform the activity Activate Open Item Management for AccountsManaged on Line Item Basis.

We recommend first performing the related report in a test run and analyzing the detailed loggenerated.

FIN_GL_CI_1: Analysis of Posted Documents for Document Splitting (New)Use

From SAP ECC 6.0, Enhancement Package 3, Business Function New General LedgerAccounting, you can apply your current Customizing settings for document splitting in youranalysis of documents that have already been posted. It is possible to run an analysis forindividual documents or for multiple documents at the same time.

For the analysis, the system compares the posted version of a document against a simulatedversion of the document for which the current Customizing settings were applied. The output loglists all documents for which error messages are issued or for which the comparison betweenthe posted and the simulated version of the document shows differences due to changedCustomizing settings.

If new General Ledger Accounting has been implemented subsequently, you can only analyzedocuments that were posted after the migration date.

For more information, see the documentation on report FAGL_CHECK_DOCUMENT_SPLIT.

Effects on Existing Data

This function does not influence data in new General Ledger Accounting.

Effects on Customizing

To run an analysis for document splitting, use program FAGL_CHECK_DOCUMENT_SPLIT.You do not need to make any Customizing settings.

FI-GL (new): Subsequent Implementation of Document Splitting (new)Use

With SAP ECC 6.0, Enhancement Package 3 and Support Package 12, you can activatedocument splitting subsequently in new General Ledger Accounting. The technical prerequisitefor this is that you already use new General Ledger Accounting.

As of the end of 2007, a separate migration scenario for the subsequent implementation ofdocument splitting is provided by the SAP General Ledger Migration Service. For moreinformation about the migration service, see SAP Note 812919.

The subsequent implementation of document splitting does not require you to activate the NewGeneral Ledger Accounting business function.

Attention:You can only use this function in collaboration with the SAP General Ledger MigrationService and with support package status SP 02.

Page 13: New GL 1

FIN_GL_CI_1: Clearing and Posting Specific to Ledger Groups (New)Use

From SAP ECC 6.0, Enhancement Package 3, Business Function New General LedgerAccounting, you can post and clear items for specific ledger groups.

You use clearing specific to ledger groups if you perform parallel accounting using the ledgerapproach (and not the account approach). Clearing specific to ledger groups and makingpostings specific to ledger groups supports you with your closing tasks. You can use thefunction for all items that, due to parallel accounting, are posted to multiple ledgers and valuateddifferently in those ledgers, in particular for provisions (such as provisions for commission, rebates, or process risks, or provisions for creating and checking year-end closing).

If you set the Clearing Specific to Ledger Groups indicator for a G/L account managed on anopen item basis, ledger group-specific postings can be made to this account. In this way, youhave a ledger group-specific view of the account. Clearing is also performed for specific ledgergroups. This means that items that you have posted in a specific ledger group can only beprocessed further within the same ledger group. If you have posted provisions, for example, tospecific ledger groups, you also clear those provisions for those specific ledger groups.

If you set this indicator, it replaces the following indicators:

Consequently, once you have set the Clearing Specific to Ledger Groups indicator, youcannot set either of the other indicators.

You can only set the Clearing Specific to Ledger Groups indicator for balance sheetaccounts. The indicator is only visible if you have activated new General Ledger Accounting inthe current client and if you have defined more than one ledger for the company code.

The sample account method (transactions FSM*, such as the creation of sample accounts) aswell as the transfer of G/L account master data using transactions FS15 and FS16 do notsupport the new Clearing Specific to Ledger Groups indicator since these transactions useolder screen technology. For this reason, you have to set the indicator manually after editing themaster data.

As with the previous transactions, you can now post documents for specific ledger groups usingthe transactions Enter G/L Account Document for Ledger Group (FB50L) and GeneralPosting for Ledger Group (FB01L).

Furthermore, you can use the following new transactions:

o For clearing: Transactions Clear G/L Account for Ledger Group (FB1SL) and Post withClearing for Ledger Group (FB05L)

o For automatic clearing: Transaction Automatic Clearing Specific to Ledger Groups(F13L)

Reporting and archiving have been adjusted accordingly.

In reporting, open items are sorted by ledger group.

You can only archive cleared items.

Effects on Existing Data

The user interface has been changed as follows:The new Clearing Specific to Ledger Groups indicator is ready for use in master datamaintenance for G/L accounts (transactions FS00 or FSS0) in the Control Data tab page, provided you use multiple ledgers in the company code and show the indicator by means of thefield status in the account group for the G/L account.

Since the new transactions resemble the transactions that were previously available, users donot require any additional training.

Effects on Data Transfer

Page 14: New GL 1

It is possible to use the ALE interface to transport the indicator value Clearing Specific toLedger Groups.

Effects on Customizing

We recommend that you create new accounts so that you can use clearing specific to ledgergroups.

In the master record of the new account, you have to set the Clearing Specific to LedgerGroups indicator.

When you have set this indicator, it replaces both of the indicators Line Item Display and OpenItem Management in terms of the functions it provides.

Notes:

Instead of creating new accounts, however, you can alternatively convert existing accounts thatare managed on a line item basis into accounts that are managed on an open item basis(provided certain prerequisites are met). You do this in Customizing for General LedgerAccounting (New) by performing the activity Activate Open Item Management for AccountsManaged on Line Item Basis. However, once you have converted an account into an accountmanaged on an open item basis for specific ledger groups and you have since made postings tothis account, you cannot convert the account back into one using ordinary open itemmanagement.

When you call the G/L Account List (RFSKVZ00) program or the G/L account list query, youcan only select G/L accounts using the characteristic Clearing Specific to Ledger Groupsonce you have made the corresponding settings in the logical database SDF. These settingsare described in SAP Note 1086335.

FIN_GL_CI_1: Ledger Group-Specific Provisions for Doubtful Receivables(New)

Use

From SAP ECC 6.0, Enhancement Package 3, Business Function New General LedgerAccounting, you can post provisions for doubtful receivables for specific ledger groups.

For this, you use transaction FAGL_104 with program FAGL_DR_PROVISION.

Transaction FAGL_104 replaces the previous transaction F104, which cannot be used in newGeneral Ledger Accounting.

The new program FAGL_DR_PROVISION reads provisions for each valuation area andprovision method:

o Doubtful receivables on the basis of the Special G/L Indicator for DoubtfulReceivables

o All doubtful receivables on the basis of the selection criteria

On the basis of the valuation area, the system determines the corresponding ledger group forwhich the posting needs to be made. In this way, the posting can be made specific to thatledger group.

The system then outputs the selected receivables and the postings made.

For more information, see the program documentation for FAGL_DR_PROVISION .

Attention:Transaction FAGL_104 is only intended for specific countries. With the standard settings, program SAPF107 is still applied for posting flat rate individual value adjustments.

Effects on Existing Data

The previous transaction F104 is not supported in new General Ledger Accounting. Iftransaction F104 has been performed after new General Ledger Accounting was activated, youhave to clear any provisions for doubtful receivables generated previously and generate themagain using the new transaction FAGL_104.

The provision amount is no longer logged in field HWZUZ or FWZUZ of table BSEG but instead intable BSBW under METHD = #50'.

The system logs the provision runs in table FAGL_BSBW_HISTRY.

To call the new transaction FAGL_104 from the SAP Easy Access screen, choose Accounting-> Financial Accounting -> Accounts Receivable -> Periodic Processing -> Closing ->Valuate -> Reserve for Bad Debt (Gross) (New).

Effects on Customizing

To be able to post provisions for doubtful receivables to specific ledger groups, you need tomake the following settings in Customizing:

1. To define the provision method with which the provisions for doubtful receivables iscreated, perform the activity Define Methods (New) in Customizing for AccountsReceivable and Accounts Payable.

2. To specify the percentage of the receivable that is posted as a provision and the numberof days in arrears after which a provision posting is made for the receivable, go toCustomizing for Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable and perform the activitySpecify Periods and Amount of Reserve for Bad Debt (New).

3. To specify the accounts to which the provisions are posted, go to Customizing forAccounts Receivable and Accounts Payable and perform the activity DefineAccounts for Reserve for Bad Debt.

Page 16: New GL 1

Account determination occurs on the basis of the chart of accounts, the valuation area, and the provision method.
