Geography: Land features Ground:
• Hard in the winter , rocky and unleveled.
Soil:
• The soil was rocky and unleveled.
Hills
• Inland is mostly hills, rocky coastline.
Mountains
• Appalachians, inland is filled with mountains.
Coastline
• Flat, good to build homes on.
Climate: Typical weather
• They were farther north and therefore had longer and cooler winters than others.

• The winter in the northern is cold.
Summer:
• In summer the nights and days are warm or extremely hot.May get sick during summer. More of a risk for disease.

• Growing season is short because of weather.

• Forest= Wood. Forest=animals

• Subsistence farming- farming that provides for the family needs with little surplus for marketing.

City jobs
• Shoe maker- makes shoes for people.
Printer and Binder
• A powerful tool to print letters, names , etc.
Trade jobs:
• Weaver: a weaver made clothes. Traded clothes to gain wealth.
Tailor:
• A tailor is a guy who makes suits for every purpose. They traded suits along with clothes.
Mountains
• Mountains provide minerals so you could be a miner.
Woods
• The woods can allow to have wood industries or lumberjacks.
Ocean and trade jobs:
• Shipbuilding
• Whaling
• Fishing
• Shipping and merchants.

• Because they trade the supplies they make for wealth .
• Ocean= Trade, shipbuilding jobs.
• Deep ports= Cities and jobs.
• Soil= No jobs from it.

What big cities?
• Big cities are Falmouth, Portsmouth, Salem, Boston, Plymouth, Newport, New haven. They also traded with them.
What trading and with whom?
• They traded fish, timber, shipbuilding supply's. cattle, whale, rum.
Cities
• They chose big cities because it made large amounts of trade, they are on coastline making it easy to trade.
Economy:Triangular Trade
• Routes that linked American colonies, west indies, Africa, and England.
What is being traded?
• England: Sent manufactured goods to the us and west indies.
• US sent rum, fish, and lumber.
• West indies sent rum, sugar, molasses.
• Africa: Mostly slaves.
Religion:Puritans & Religious Intolerance
Puritans:
• Group of people of the English Protestants during the 16th and 17th centuries including English colonist.
Intolerant:
• They banished Roger Williams and Anne Hutchinson. They hanged Mary Dyer for defying the puritan law, banned Quakers from the colonies.

• Roger-Puritans disliked the fact he had an idea to separate from the church. Also founder of RI.
• Anne- Puritans disliked her claim that she possessed the authority to interpret the Bible.
Religion:Salem Witch Trials
• Started in January 1692 when daughter and niece of Reverend Samuel became ill.
How many punished/accused/executed.
• Hundreds faced accusations. Prisons filled with more than 150 men and women. 19 people who were accused we're hung. 4 women died in prison that were accused.
• It got out of control and innocent people died because of it. Governor said no more spectral evidence. Shut down because of it.
