    We want to say thank you to all of HMC’s amazing employees across the United States who took initiative in helping families in need during the recent disasters taking place. Fortunately, none of our managed properties were directly impacted, but many were within short distances to those people having to travel outside the area for assistance. Here are just a few examples - but you have all represented our philosophies as a company in the best possible light and we appreciate all you’ve done, and do, every day for our guests.

    MICROTEL INN & SUITES BY WYNDHAM PEARL RIVER, LA

    Amy Molica Lazzaro and her team received multiple feedback from guests including “beyond exceptional customer service” and “congratulating you and ALL your staff on being so totally gracious, friendly and accommodating, that it felt like we were at home with family” for famlies and evacuees.

    RADISSON HOTEL DALLAS NORTH - ADDISON, TX

    The hotel hosted our finest, the US Department of Housing and Human Services Office team from the Florida “National Disaster Medical Service.”

    LA QUINTA INN & SUITES PEARSALL, TX

    Responsible for housing and caring for not only numerous evacuees, but their pets. They were able to accept donations and supply evacuees with food and water for the Pearsall Police Department.

    MICROTEL INN & SUITES BY WYNDHAM MIDLAND, TX

    Created an initiatve for local assistance in helping pets affected by the storm by collecting both dry and canned pet food and then distributing to Houston and the Texas Relief Center.

    FREDERICKSBURG INN & SUITES FREDERICKSBURG, TX

    Assisted with numerous Houston victims which included parents & family members of those unable to reach or care for them.

    HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS - ENNIS, TX

    They collected items for evacuees staying at the hotel over 2 days. However, after attempting to distribute donations to their guests, they declined (lots of big hearts in Texas) and stated they were more concerned about those victims who were more affected and asked that all donations go to them, so contributions were driven to the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas for distribution.

  • FULL-SERVICE STAR MANAGER FULL-SERVICE STAR ASSOCIATE

    This issue’s Full-Service Star Manager award goes to Gokce Sweetman, Food & Beverage Operations Manager at the Holiday Inn Memphis Airport.

    Gokce embodies the professionalism, determination and tact for the position she holds. She is always positive and encouraging in how she handles challenges with employees and guests.

    She started her career with the Holiday Inn Memphis Airport more than a year ago and has held multiple positions from Bartender to Food & Beverage Manager. She has always been recognized as an ambitious, outgoing and guest-oriented employee by her fellow co-managers and associates and has an approachable personality, which allowes her to build great employee engagement within her department.

    Gokce has an extreme drive to learn more and equip herself to be successful. Presently, she makes a point to attend any meetings regardless of discipline and thus explores other areas within the hotel business.

    Since her employment at the Holiday Inn Memphis Airport, there has been an approximate 20% increase in guest satisfaction scores and overall operation. Congratulations to Gokce and thank you for all you do representing the hotel and HMC.

    SELECT-SERVICE STAR MANAGER SELECT-SERVICE STAR ASSOCIATE

    Jose Berrios has been selected as the Full-Service STAR Associate by Hospitality Management Corporation (HMC).

    He has been employed by the Sheraton Harrisburg Hershey since November of 2005 as a Banquet Server. However, he wears many different hats since he has been working at the hotel: fill-in Banquet Captain, Coffee Break Captain, Room Service, and many more. He knows and acknowledges most of our return guests (in banquets) --- and they remember him.

    He is in charge of the Halloween Client Appreciation party (decorations, food, etc.) and each year is the sole participant in the Children’s Miracle Network meal that the hotel provides to the children/doctors/nurses at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center.

    Recently, he assisted with guests at the Front Desk who only spoke Spanish and when the kitchen got busy during a crazy Saturday night, Jose stepped behind the line and assisted with the cooking.

    Jose embodies the desire to be a team player and steps-up in any role deemed necessary to make hotel operations run smoothly. We are fortunate to have him as part of our staff. Congratulations!

    We are pleased to select Olga Deleon, Front Office Supervisor at La Quinta Inn & Suites, Pearsall, TX as our Select-Service STAR Associate.

    Olga was hired in 2015 to provide guest services during our social hour/manager’s reception. By March, 2016, she was promoted to front desk staff and excelled as an agent, showing consistency in guests’ expectation, problem solving and leadership. She consistently takes pride in sales promotions by conducting parking lot drives and connecting with new guests, as well as empowering our front desk agents to do the same. In November, 2016, Olga was promoted to Front Office Supervisor exceeding expectations for her 90-day evaluation.

    Brand Standard Review: For the 2016 year-end review, Olga developed substantial improvements with our Medallia Elite Gift Delivery, as well as Returns Enrollments (loyalty program). Elite Gift Delivery for 2016 was 40% vs brand standard of 100%. Year to date we have an increase of year over year benchmark of 33.3% .

    Guest Satisfaction: Medallia overall service scores have increased by 5.5% putting us currently at 91.7. Olga also received The HERE F
