New CVAD Order Entry Process

- Open Pt Chart

- Click on “Orders” Tab

- Click on “New Sets”

- Select an Ordering provider, then select “MEC Approved Protocol” for the order source.

- Click “OK”

- Select “Category

- Click on the “+” sign next to “Med/IV/Protocols” to open the choice string.

- Check the CVAD PROTOCOL

- Click “Next”

- Check the line type and the appropriate flush for that line

- Click “OK”

- A Pop-UP screen will ask you when you would like to have the flushes start, and if you want a “now” dose.

Select choice if different from default, and click “OK”.

- Manage “Conflicts” screen. This will populate if the patient is on SC Heparin, IV Heparin drip, etc.

- Click “Override” on the Footer.

- Select the override comment: “Not Clinically Significant”

- Then “Save”
