Why Cool the Materials ?

1. Wide Tuning Range of Emission Cross Section (Saturation Fluence)

→ Realize an efficient energy extraction without optics dam

ages

2. 4-Level Laser System

→ Enough Laser gain even in diode-pump

3. Improved Thermal Conductivity

→ High average power operation

Because there are dramatic Improvements.
