Have you ever started out a prayer in this way, “Lord, it’s me again…” because inside you feel as if you don’t deserve to pray to the Lord? I have. In those moments I have felt the weight of sin and guilt on my shoulders. It was almost as if I didn’t deserve to pray to God for forgiveness and strength. You may have felt the same way in the past or feel that way today. But what if I told you that it’s possible to rid yourself of the guilt and let God’s grace and forgiveness fill your heart today?

Ephesians 2:1-10 tells us that we were

at one point “dead in the trespasses and sins… carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind (vs. 1, 3).” That life sounds so bleak and hopeless. But some of the most hopeful words in all of Scripture says, “And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ by the Spirit of our God.” (1 Corinthians 6:11) We, who at one point were outside of Christ, lost in sin, through God’s grace and forgiveness received in a believer’s baptism, have been found and saved!

Most of us acknowledge God’s grace mentally, but our emotions speak a different

story. We allow sin and guilt to cloud us and separate us from this wonderful blessing of God. If you feel ashamed today because of past sin in your life, it is time you realize that God’s grace (through the blood of Jesus) is what cleanses us, completes us, and will one day save us. If you have truly repented of sin, the earthly consequences may still exist but the eternal ones are gone. I do not want anyone to be confused; we have to deal with the consequences of our sins even after God has forgiven us. However, just because earthly consequences exist does not mean that God is still holding us eternally responsible any longer, because the sin has been forgiven!

So be courageous today knowing that God’s faithfulness to us has never been

dependent upon our faithfulness to him. You may be down because of the hardships of the consequences, but be of good cheer, God has forgiven us and will always love us. It is now our privilege to draw near to him in love through obedience, accepting the grace he offers so freely. Will you allow yourself to feel free today? If so, it’s time to pray with love and thankfulness in your heart, “Lord, it’s me again…”

“Thank You!” to all those who came last week for our Monday Night for the Master ministry. There were cards, notes and messages of encouragement sent by the ones led by Ronnie and Janet Putnam. There were ladies who came early at 2:00 pm to work on pillowcases for DHR children and to sew binding on quilts, and cut bibs for nursing home residents. Thank you especially for that service! Linda Young and some of her helpers continue to work each week on the Route 66 Bible Study lessons, coming up with new ideas for the Diner and Craft rooms. Phone calls were made to many of our members who have been sick or shut in recently, and several other good works were done for hospital patients and their families. We invite everyone out tomorrow night to keep up this good work at 6:45 pm.
