Turff TeensFantasy Football 4 Teens

Teens (Entering Grades 6-9)Mike Seavert, CommissionerCo-Op with Various Recreation Departments in the area.

Calling all diehard NFL fans…whether you’re a beginner or pro, come play a fantasy football game with a uniquetwist, one that you won’t find on any of the online sites. TURFF stands for “The Ultimate Re-Draft Fantasy Football”,where it combines traditional fantasy football with an eliminator-type game. No two weeks are the same, so noworries if your team does awful one week, as you draft a new team of players each week, so you could still be in therunning for the championships at the end of the season. The twist here is that once you choose a player, you cannotchoose them again the rest of the season, so this is not only a game of skill, but one of strategy while learning moreabout the players from all NFL teams. Can you continue to make a winning combination each week or will you hitthe “turff”? Three games will be played each week. Along with TURFF, we will also play a traditional fantasy footballwith a salary cap format and head-to-head matchups, along with team pick ‘em. Encourage a friend to sign up andcompete with other teens from our area. We meet only three times throughout the season, the draft/rules meetingis on August 31st, and a mid-season party is Sunday, November 4, and the end-of-season football watching party onSunday, December 30 at the Greenfield Community Center. The rest is all done from home through a custom web-site for our program, so participants will need to have an e-mail address to participate. Dogs in ParksSeveral citizens have recently expressed concern about dogs notbeing on a leash and concerns about citizens not removing dogwaste while walking their dogs in park areas. Dogs are welcome inthe parks as long as the handler has the animal on a leash (less than6 ft. in length) and properly cleans up after the animal. The citationfor violation of ordinance 184-14(B) Dogs not on leash is $101.40and the citation for violation of ordinance 152-10(I) Dog wastenot removed is $120.30. These ordinances will be enforced bythe New Berlin Police Department. However, during softball andsoccer seasons, the Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department has ex-perienced some problems with dogs in the parks mixing with sportsparticipants and spectators. With public safety in mind, the Parks,Recreation & Forestry Commission decided to not allow dogs inthe spectator areas and on the athletic fields. Signs will be postedin the parks. If you have any questions or concerns, please contactthe Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department at (262) 797-2443.
