Evidence Supports Certification 73% of patients are more likely to select a hospital that
employs a high percentage of nurses with a specialtycertification (Harris Poll)
Every 10% increase in the percentage of baccalaureate
nurses in hospitals was associated with a 6% decrease in theodds of patients dying (both 30-day mortality and failure torescue).
Every 10% increase in baccalaureate nurses with
certification was associated with a 2% decrease in theseodds. (Kendall-Gallagher, et al, 2011)

What is it?
The CCRN Adult, Pediatric, or Neonatal KnowledgeProfessional is for RNs or APRNs who in their practiceapply knowledge in a way that influences patients,nurses and/or organizations to have a positive impacton acutely and/or critically ill patients and families.
How can I obtain it? Initial exam will be available September 10, 2014 Renewal option from CCRN or CCRN-E

Revised eligibility requirementsfor CCRN and PCCN
Option 1
Practice as an RN orAPRN for 1,750 hours
during the previous two(2) years, with 875 ofthose hours accrued inthe most recent yearpreceding application.
Option 2
Practice as an RN or APRNfor at least five (5) years
with a minimum of 2,000hours, with 144 of thosehours accrued in the mostrecent year precedingapplication
