Find the Netflix app

Ask your adult learner to find the

Netflix app. They can look for it on the

device’s home screen or in the app

launcher.

Ask your adult learner to tap on the

Netflix app to open it

If Netflix is not installed on the device,

ask your adult learner to open the App

Store. They can search for Netflix to

download it. If your learner has never

downloaded apps before, do this lesson

first.

Sign in to Netflix

Explain to your adult learner that Netflix is an app where they can watch movies and TV shows

Explain to them that Netflix is not free and that this is a paid subscription. This lesson is for adult learners who already have a Netflix account.

They can sign up for a free trial, but

they will have to give Netflix their

credit card information

Explain to your adult learner that

their Netflix account has to be

connected to the internet at all

times. That means it’s best that they

use it when connected to wifi.

Searching on Netflix

Explain to your adult learner that they can search for any movie or TV show to see if it is in the Netflix library

Explain that if the show or movie they search for is not on Netflix, it will suggest similar things to watch

Ask your adult learner to search for a movie or TV show. If they can’t think of one, give them a suggestion.

Downloading movies or shows

Explain to your adult learner that Netflix requires internet at all times. They can also download a movie or TV show to watch later when they don’t have internet access. This is a popular way to watch something on your device while travelling on a plane.

Explain to them that downloading means the movie will be stored in their phone’s memory and will take up space on their phone

Show your adult learner the Download icon. Show them how to download a movie or TV show.

When it’s finished downloading, ask your adult learner to tap the Download button on the menu bar. Explain that this is where they can see all the movies and TV shows they’ve downloaded.
