Why do we get headaches?

a. Brain cannot feel pain itself – it is sensing pain in other part of body

FROZEN, not the movie, but my BRAIN! Not really….What causes a brain freeze?

a. When something cold touches the roof of your mouth, the sudden change in temperature causes the nerves to swell up the blood vessels – it tries to send the blood back to warm up again.

b. The nerve that signals the problem also senses face pain, so the brain thinks the pain is coming from your forehead.

Does the brain work after death?

a. Brain can survive up to six minutes after the heart stops beating. Brain can still function if CPR is given.

b. Brain cannot feel pain, cannot store oxygen, cannot store glucose (sugar)

a. Concussion = usually, brain is cushioned by fluid. If hit hard enough, the brain can hit the skull.

b. Neurons get damaged when smashed against the skull.
