What is Neoclassical Architecture?

Neoclassical Architecture was created in 1563 by Giacomo da Vinqnola. He out lined the principles of Neoclassical Architecture in his written document. Neoclassical is almost like saying “new” classical because the art is more modern than regular classical. They are also described by people from buildings in ancient Greece and ancient Rome. Andrea Palladio is also another architect of Neoclassical Architecture. She has her own way and a different way of doing Neoclassical Architecture.

This is a picture of the inside of a neoclassical building.

The first of the fourcharacteristics

The first characteristic is symmetrical shape. Symmetrical shape

means you can cut in down the middle and it will be even on both sides. For

example in this picture you can split the building in half and it would be even.

This is a picture of symmetrical building.

If you would split this building down the middle it would be even on both sides

The second out of the fourcharacteristics

This second characteristic is tall columns that rise the whole length of the building. Down below is pictures of the columns on a building.

The third of the four characteristics

The third characteristic is having a Triangular pediment. A triangular pediment is the triangle that is in the middle of the roof. In this picture below this building has a Triangular pediment.

Where the pink and green triangle is that is where the triangular pediment is.

The last characteristic The last characteristic is a round

shaped dome. A round shaped dome is a rounded roof that is on the United States capital. But the rounded dome can be on any building, not just the U.S. capital. Down below however this is a picture of the inside of a dome roof. Not necessarily do they have to be made out of wood they can be made out of anything as long as it can be rounded.

This is a picture of a dome being constructed.

My opinion on Neoclassical architecture .

I think that these buildings are very unique because every building is a little different. I like these buildings because they are very calm and not so high tech. I would like to see these in Sheffield however the buildings would not fit Sheffield's community. They would be way out of place of where they should be. I think that these building would be a very cool attraction if we had one.
