Page 1 Find us at www.keysight.com Nemo Invex II TECHNICAL OVERVIEW Introduction Nemo Invex II from Keysight Technologies, Inc. is the most powerful and advanced benchmarking system for testing large wireless device configurations with high data rates LTE-A Cat 16 and beyond - with a rich suite of application testing options. The system enables testing with up to 50 compatible devices and with up to four scanners simultaneously with lower power consumption per device, giving operators, network vendors, regulators, and contractors the possibility to benchmark voice and data services on all available wireless technologies in one test drive. In the Nemo Invex II design, the main focus has been on reliability in extreme conditions. The design boasts sophisticated built-in cooling and heating and replaceable air filters. The enhanced capacity of Nemo Invex II offers support for the largest number of test devices in the world. IntroductionNemo Invex II from Keysight Technologies, Inc. is the most powerful and advanced

benchmarking system for testing large wireless device configurations with high data

rates LTE-A Cat 16 and beyond - with a rich suite of application testing options. The

system enables testing with up to 50 compatible devices and with up to four scanners

simultaneously with lower power consumption per device, giving operators, network

vendors, regulators, and contractors the possibility to benchmark voice and data

services on all available wireless technologies in one test drive.

In the Nemo Invex II design, the main focus has been on reliability in extreme conditions.

The design boasts sophisticated built-in cooling and heating and replaceable air filters.

The enhanced capacity of Nemo Invex II offers support for the largest number of test

devices in the world. Yet, power efficiency has not been overlooked: the power usage

per UIC has been cut in half thanks to the innovative design.

The system has improved UPS functions including backup for scanners as well as

built-in monitoring for power, temperature, and current maintaining the measurement

system at optimal temperature. Furthermore, USB charging 1.2 compliant ports enable

the charging of the measurement devices in long measurement sessions. Native

SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ports support LTE-A Cat 16 test devices and beyond.

The compact, standard chassis allows totally free mix and match modularity between

the chassis via the advanced Invex Chassis NET communication interface. Compared

to current commercial benchmarking systems, the need for manual cabling has been

reduced dramatically. The system is designed for easy installation and usage in cars with

wireless connectivity to the control PC, built-in ambient lights and keyboard, video, and

mouse (KVM) for improved usability – even in environments with low, ambient lighting.

Nemo Invex II System Management Module (SMM)• Interface between control PC and chassis

Nemo Invex II offers two types of enclosures for handsets: Handset Isolation Module

(HIM) and Single Handset Isolation Module (SHIM).

Working with Nemo Invex IIReliable and accurate measurements

Nemo Invex II sets the new standard for reliable and accurate measurements. Its

enhanced power efficiency reduces the power usage per test device approximately

50%. The innovative thermal design enables longer, uninterrupted and, therefore,

more reliable measurements. Improved UPS functions include back-up for scanners

as well as built-in monitoring for power, temperature and current, thus maintaining the

measurement system at optimal temperature. In addition, high-power USB ports enable

batteries to charge during long test drives.

With its easy-to-use features, Nemo Invex II offers the very latest measurement system

technology. Cabling has been reduced and the system is easy to install and use in

vehicles. It includes wireless connectivity to the management PC, built-in ambient lights

and KVM.

Quick and easy to deploy, Nemo Invex II provides critical quality-of-service (QoS)

measurements and a wide variety of quality-of-experience (QoE) service testing,

including the latest voice and video quality measurement algorithms. Nemo Invex II is

The supported test devices include the latest Qualcomm-based terminals as well as

scanning receivers from Keysight, PCTEL, and Rohde & Schwarz. What is more, they

are all conveniently connected to the same Nemo Invex II platform running on a single

laptop. Furthermore, combined with Nemo Server, it is also possible to carry out long-

term network performance measurements.

Web-based maintenance tool

The new web-based Nemo Invex II maintenance tool provides a quick and easy way

to update and configure the Nemo Invex II system using a web browser on the control

PC. If a wireless access kit is used with the Nemo Invex II system, the web-based

maintenance tool can be accessed with a smartphone.

Application TestingVerify and troubleshoot your wireless network

Nemo Invex II enables network operators to test their network using the same

application protocols as their customers and, therefore, provides results that correspond

with the end-user experience. The information provided by Nemo Invex II assists in the

verification and troubleshooting of new services reducing the time-to-market.

Perform application tests manually or automatically by taking advantage of user-

definable scripts. For all protocols, key performance indicators, such as data

throughput, access time, and success rate can be recorded simultaneously with the full

radio network information.

All services are supported in a single product, Nemo Invex II, providing an easy-to-use,

consistent interface for configuring the different applications. Different applications, such

as voice, SMS and packet-switched data can be launched in one measurement session

to simulate end-user behavior.

Nemo Invex II supports single and multi (parallel) SFTP transfers and single, multi

(parallel) and multithreaded FTP transfers. In single SFTP/FTP transfer, one file is

either sent or received. In multi SFTP/FTP transfer, one or more files are either sent or

received or both simultaneously. In multithreaded FTP transfer, the transferred file is split

into smaller fragments. You define the number of threads. Each thread creates a new

FTP session and transfers a fragment of the file. Multithreaded FTP transfer mode is

supported in the receive direction.

most popular social networking applications, and they produce significant amounts of

5G Measurement SolutionThe shortage of bandwidth has lead network vendors to explore the millimeter wave (mm-

wave) frequency spectrum and its applications for future broadband wireless networks.

Extensive measurements and research are needed to gather information about cellular

mm-wave propagation in densely populated indoor and outdoor environments.

Centrally Controlled Testing with Nemo CloudNemo Cloud is a one-stop-shop platform for centrally controlled network testing from

measurement session creation to final measurement reports (with Nemo Xynergy). It

allows network operators to remotely operate Nemo Outdoor, Nemo Invex II, and Nemo

Handy/Nemo Handy Autonomous test units and check their status. The location and

status of field units, including the driver’s contact details, are tracked in Nemo Cloud.

Configuration settings can be shared to and between all measurement units within the

same project quickly and easily. Nemo Cloud supports all devices and test protocols

currently supported with Nemo tools.

A single user is able to remotely monitor and manage numerous Nemo measurement

kits in the field thus eliminating the need for two technicians in a test vehicle.

Measurement sessions are created and scheduled in Nemo Cloud and they can be

assigned for individual measurement units or to groups of units. Field unit hardware

configurations and test device details can be verified remotely to avoid failed drive tests

caused by malfunctioning hardware. In addition, hardware failures, incorrect scripts and

other issues can be spotted and corrective measures taken immediately instead of at

the end of a one-week test campaign. By reacting without delay, both time and money

can be saved.

For locally controlled Nemo tools, Nemo Cloud provides file and configuration sharing

between measurement units. This reduces work before the start of the measurement

project in the field and eliminates human errors in local measurement unit configuration.
