QUICK GUIDE

This quick guide will explain briefly how to set up the Nemo Handy measurement system and how to start the actual measurements.

♦ Note that GPS support, scripts, WLAN, data logging, indoor map, application testing, cell and time slot testing, voice quality, video quality, assisted handover, scanning, playback, and Multi Handy are available only if your Nemo Handy license supports them.

∇ Using Nemo Handy

1. If you are using a GPS receiver in the measurements, switch on the Bluetooth GPS receiver. Activate Bluetooth on your Nemo Handy mobile (see p. 15).

2. Select the Nemo Handy icon from the Menu | My own view on your Nemo Handy mobile. Nemo Handy detects the available Bluetooth devices or if you have used the GPS receiver before with Nemo Handy, the connection will be established automatically.

3. If you want to use scripts, load a script by selecting Options | Script | Load. Run a script by selecting Options | Script | Run.

4. To start recording manually, select Options | Start Logging or activate auto logging to start recording automatically when a script is started.

5. With the right and left arrow buttons, browse through the different views. With the up and down arrow buttons, you can scroll up and down the views. Press the navigation button to select different parameters visible in the view.

6. While Nemo Handy is logging, you can use the mobile normally for making calls, sending SMS messages, etc. Use the Menu button to switch between different applications or press the green button to make a call.

7. Stop the recording by selecting Options | Stop Logging. Select Keep to save the file with the default name, Rename to save the file with a new name, Delete to the delete the file, Send via FTP to send the measurement file to an FTP server, or Send via e-mail to send the measurement file to an e-mail address.

8. Export the measurement file for post-processing and analysis (see p. 120).

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

This manual explains how to set up and operate the Nemo Handy measurement tool software developed by Anite Finland Ltd.

Nemo Handy is a portable engineering tool for measuring and monitoring the air interface of digital networks. The supported network standards are:

GSM 850/900/1800/1900 EGSM GPRS EGPRS WCDMA 850/900/1900/2100 HSDPA HSUPA Wi-Fi 802.11b/g

Nemo Handy is an effective tool for tracing digital networks. Nemo Handy collects measurement results and stores them on a memory card. Measurement results provide useful information for network optimization, verification, and maintenance purposes. Results can be efficiently and easily viewed with the Nemo analysis tool Nemo Analyze for Windows®.

Nemo Handy uses licensed technology from Nokia. Nemo Handy uses IMEI-based software protection.

IMPORTANT

Upgrading Terminal Firmware with Nokia PC Suite

Do not upgrade your Nemo Handy measurement terminal firmware with Nokia PC Suite. Upgrading will cause the terminal to permanently lose its measurement capability. To restore the functionality of such terminal, it must be sent to Anite Finland Ltd for reconfiguration. You will be charged for the shipping and handling of the terminal.

With Nokia N97/N97US terminals, to disable terminal notifications for firmware update, go to Menu | Applications | Phone Setup | SW Update. Select Off in Options | Auto check for updates.

End-User License Agreement

The software described in this document is furnished under a license agreement and may be used only in accordance with the terms of that agreement. For full details of this agreement, see page 154.

Traffic Safety

Do not operate Nemo Handy and drive (or walk) at the same time. Remember, traffic safety comes first.

Operating Environment

Do not operate Nemo Handy without reading the User Manual, including its warnings, for the devices used by Nemo Handy.

Always stop using Nemo Handy and switch off the Nemo Handy test device(s) when it is forbidden to use radio equipment or when it may cause interference or danger.

Do not use the Nemo Handy test device(s) in a hospital. It may interfere with nearby electronic devices.

Never use Nemo Handy in an aircraft. The use of mobiles in an aircraft may be dangerous.

Observe restrictions on the use of radio equipment in gas stations, fuel depots, chemical plants, or sites where blasting operations are in progress.

NOTES

The Nemo Handy user must be appropriately trained and should be familiar with the signaling behind GSM, GPRS, EGPRS, and/or UMTS.

When using the Nemo Handy test mobile for measurement use, the battery operation time is reduced from normal use. The best operation times will be achieved when the batteries are regularly charged and discharged as instructed in the mobile user manual. See also other instructions and hints from the mobile user manual regarding the battery use.

NEMO HANDY SYSTEM OVERVIEW

The testing environment consists of a Nemo Handy compatible Nokia mobile. The package also includes the connecting cable, a memory card, and a Bluetooth GPS receiver (optional). For connecting the GPS receiver to the system, refer to the documentation in the GPS receiver package. The Nemo Handy software is preinstalled in the mobile so you can start measurements as soon as you receive the product package.

You can use the Nemo Handy mobile as a regular phone while Nemo Handy is logging in the background: you can make calls, send SMS/MMS messages, make data transfers, etc.

1) Not upgradeable to existing Nemo Handy units. A new Nemo Handy terminal must be purchased. The Master option is supported on Nokia 6720/6720US, N85/N85US, N97/N97US, C5, C5-03, C5-03US, C5-04AWS, and C7-00 terminals.

2) All currently supported Nemo Handy terminal types can be upgraded to include the Slave option. The terminals can be used both as a Slave in Multi measurements and as a regular Handy terminal.

3) The Slave only option is supported on all Nemo Handy terminal types. Nemo Handy with the Slave only option can only be operated as a Slave unit in Multi Handy measurements, and can only be controlled by the Master unit.

COMPUTER HW AND SW REQUIREMENTS

For Nemo Handy:

• Nemo Handy compatible mobile with free memory for FTP downloads

For post-processing with Nemo Outdoor:

• PC (IBM or Dell recommended) with Windows® XP Professional or Windows Vista

• Pentium III processor, minimum 850 MHz, preferably 1 GHz

• 1 GB RAM minimum

• 1 GB of free hard disk space for installation and use; 20 GB recommended

• USB port for memory card reader

• Nemo Analyze copy protection module, one parallel port or USB port for copy protection module

• Display resolution 1024x768; 1280x1024 or better recommended

For post-processing with Nemo Analyze:

• PC with Windows® XP Professional

• Pentium III processor or better, minimum 1 GHz, preferably 2 GHz

• 1 GB RAM minimum

INSTALLING NEMO HANDY

Nemo Handy mobiles are delivered preinstalled but you may need to update Nemo Handy yourself. Please follow these instructions carefully to install Nemo Handy.

∇ Installing Nemo Handy:

1. Connect the Nokia USB data cable to the Nemo Handy mobile and to the computer where you have the Nemo Handy installation files.

2. Select Data transfer as the Mode.

3. Copy the Nemo Handy .SIS file on the mobile memory card, for example, in the Nemo folder.

4. Disconnect the data cable from the mobile and computer.

5. Press the Menu/Applications button and press the round navigation button to select Tools.

6. Select File mgr.

7. Press the right arrow button to switch from the mobile memory to the memory card. Scroll to the folder where you saved the .sis file, for example, Nemo, and press the navigation button.

8. Scroll to the Nemo Handy.sis file and press the navigation button.

9. If a security warning appears, press Yes to continue.

10. Press Yes to confirm the installation.

11. Select Install and press OK.

12. If you already have Nemo Handy installed on the mobile, the installer program will ask to replace the old version. Press Yes.

13. Nemo Handy will be installed to phone memory (C:). Press OK. If you press Cancel, the installation is canceled.

14. Installation is started and when it is finished, you can start using Nemo Handy. Return to the menu view by pressing Back, Exit, and Back.

CONNECTING THE GPS

♦ Note that this functionality is available only if your Nemo Handy license supports it.

∇ Connecting a Bluetooth GPS receiver:

1. Switch on the GPS receiver. A green light will appear at the front of the device.

2. Activate Bluetooth on your Nemo Handy mobile ( | Tools | Bluetooth. Change Bluetooth status to On).

3. Return to the Applications menu. Start Nemo Handy, and select Options | Settings | General | GPS | Bluetooth GPS. Nemo Handy will automatically detect Bluetooth devices in its vicinity the first time you enable the Bluetooth GPS. You can also connect to the GPS by selecting Options | Connect GPS.

4. Alternatively, if the GPS is not enabled in the phone settings, enabling Bluetooth GPS in your Nemo Handy will trigger a prompt to enable the phone GPS as well. Select Yes.

5. Nemo Handy will automatically search for GPS devices in the vicinity. If your GPS is not on the list, select More devices.

6. From the Devices found list, select the GPS receiver, for example, BlueGPS 2E75AC.

7. The Status view in Nemo Handy will display the GPS Status. The status will be Connected and a blue led will blink on the GPS receiver when the connection has been established. Also the GPS view will display data from the GPS, such as, the latitude and longitude coordinates and number of satellites visible.

8. During measurements you can change the GPS device. Select Tools | Change GPS Device. The current GPS device will be disconnected and Nemo Handy will start scanning for other Bluetooth devices.

9. After measurements, switch off the GPS receiver.

∇ Activating the Internal GPS

1. First, go to | Tools | Settings | General | Positioning | Positioning Methods to make sure that Integrated GPS is enabled on your Nemo Handy terminal.

♦ With N97 terminal, select Menu | Applications | Location | Positioning | Positioning Methods.

2. In your Nemo Handy, select Options | Settings | General | GPS | Internal GPS.

∇ Connecting the assisted GPS

1. First, go to | Tools | Settings | General | Positioning | Positioning Methods to make sure that Assisted GPS is enabled on your Nemo Handy terminal.

♦ With N97 terminal, select Menu | Applications | Location | Positioning | Positioning Methods.

2. Next, select Options | Settings | General | GPS | Assisted GPS.

DISABLE GPS

You can disable the Bluetooth GPS in order to use a Bluetooth headset with Nemo Handy. In Nemo Handy, select Options | Settings | General | GPS | Off. To enable the GPS, select Options | Settings | General | GPS | Bluetooth GPS / Internal GPS / Assisted GPS.

BLUETOOTH PAIRING

It is possible to upload measurement files from your Nemo Handy to Nemo File Manager via Bluetooth connection.

To perform Bluetooth pairing between Nemo File Manager and Nemo Handy, you first have to configure your Bluetooth receiver. Enable your computer’s integrated Bluetooth receiver or connect an external one to one of the USB ports on your computer.

On your computer, select Control Panel | Bluetooth Devices | COM Ports.

Click Add.

The Add COM Port dialog opens.

Make sure that Incoming is selected and click OK.

The COM port assigned to the Bluetooth receiver is displayed in Port.

♦ This is the COM port you should select as Port in Nemo File Manager’s Bluetooth Options (see Send Log Files via Bluetooth on page 123).

Now that your computer’s Bluetooth receiver has been successfully configured, you are ready to perform Bluetooth pairing between your computer and Nemo Handy.

On your computer, select Control Panel | Bluetooth Devices | Devices.

The Add Bluetooth Device Wizard dialog opens.

On your mobile, access Bluetooth settings by selecting Menu | Connectivity | Bluetooth. In Bluetooth settings, set Bluetooth to On and My phone’s visibility to Shown to all.

In the Add Bluetooth Device Wizard dialog, make sure that the My device is set up and ready to be found check box is selected.

Click Next.

The Add Bluetooth Device Wizard prompts you to select a device from the list of detected devices.

Select the device you want to add and click Next.

The Add Bluetooth Device Wizard asks whether you want to define a passkey for the connection.

Select Let me choose my own passkey, enter a number of eight to sixteen digits to the passkey field, and click Next.

The Add Bluetooth Device Wizard requests you to enter the passkey on your Bluetooth device.

Your Nemo Handy mobile will ask whether you want to allow connection with the Bluetooth receiver.

Select Yes to allow connection with the Bluetooth receiver.

Enter the passkey you defined earlier with the Add Bluetooth Device Wizard and select OK.

The pairing between your computer and Nemo Handy has been successfully established. Click Finish.

LOGGING OPTIONS

Under Options | Settings | Properties | Logging Options you will find settings related to log files.

Circular log file option refers to a logging mode where the log file has a fixed length after which the file will be overwritten starting from the beginning. Activate and deactivate the circular log file by pressing the Navigation button on your mobile.

Define the length of the circular log file by pressing the Navigation button on the Log Length item and then moving the slide with the left and right arrow buttons. The maximum length is limited by the amount of free storage.

Click OK to save the setting.

Log File Prefix defines a custom prefix to the measurement file names. Type the new log file prefix and press OK.

START LOGGING ON CALL

You can select to configure Nemo Handy so that it automatically starts logging when a call is made. To enable this option, go to Nemo Handy Options | Settings | Start logging on call, and select On.

Note that logging will not stop automatically when you end the call. Select Options | Stop logging to finish logging.

ENABLE STANDBY DISPLAY

It is possible to add Nemo Handy parameters to the Nokia standby display. To do this, first go to Menu | Tools | Settings | General | Personalization | Standby mode | Standby theme on your phone, and select Handy Standby.

♦ Note that the Nemo Handy Standby theme needs to be installed on your Nemo Handy terminal. It is supported in Nemo Handy 3.10 and later versions. The Handy Standby theme is available in the Nemo User Club.

♦ This option is available for Nokia N85/N85US, N96/N96US and 6720/6720US terminals.

Next, start Nemo Handy. Go to Options | Settings, and select On in the Enable Standby Display field.

Exit the Settings view, and go to a Nemo Handy view. Select a parameter using the Navigation button on the phone.

After selecting the parameter, select Parameter | Add to Standby Display.

Select a slot in the list of active idle parameters that appears. The parameter is shown in the phone standby display in the selected numbered slot in the list.

DISPLAY CONFIGURATIONS

The Nemo Handy data displays are user-configurable. Only the Status, Script, and GPS views are fixed and cannot be edited. The views can be edited with the Nemo Handy Configuration Editor tool that is included in the Nemo Handy package. All the display settings are stored in an .xml file. See the Nemo Utilities user manual for more information on the Nemo Handy Configuration Editor.

To change the layout of Nemo Handy displays, select Options | Settings | Properties | Display Configuration.

Select Load New to load a new display configuration.

♦ Note that the new configuration files must be saved to folder E:\Nemo\Config\ on the memory card or to C:\Data\Nemo\Config\ on the mobile. Otherwise Nemo Handy will not find them.

Select the location of the configuration files and select the new configuration file (.xml). The file is loaded and the Nemo Handy displays changed accordingly.

To restore the original layout, select Options | Settings | Properties | Display Configuration | Load Default.

ALLOW ALL CONNECTIONS

If you have not given Nemo Handy the permission to automatically make calls and other connections as part of manual or scripted measurement procedures, the Allow All Connections option in Options | Settings | General is set to No. With this setting, Nemo Handy will always ask a permission when a connection is needed in order to perform a measurement.

To give Nemo Handy the permission to automatically make calls and other connections as part of manual or scripted measurement procedures, go to Options | Settings | General and set Allow All Connections to Yes.

DURING MEASUREMENTS

After you start logging with Nemo Handy (Options | Start Logging), you can use the mobile as any regular mobile. Nemo Handy runs in the background recording all measurement data. With the button you can switch between active applications. Press down the button and select an application from the list. Make calls by pressing the green button and entering the phone number.

During measurements, calls and data transfers can be made and/or the phone can be left in an idle state, during which time measurements are carried out. Measurement results are stored into a file filename.nbl. You can view the measurement process in a number of bar, line, and textual views.

You are able to define when the phone is allowed to make voice calls and data transfer attempts. To do this, go to Options | Settings | 12 Allow script connection

Always – The phone is able to make voice calls and data transfer attempts no matter what the status of the network is.

In service – The phone is able to make voice calls and data transfer attempt when it finds a network.

In home – The phone is able to make voice calls and data transfer attempts only when it is in the home network

At any time during the measurements you can freeze the Nemo Handy display. Select Options | Freeze Display or press the C button on your mobile. The text Freeze is displayed at the top left corner of the Nemo Handy view. Logging will continue even when the freeze display option is activated. To continue viewing the data, select Options | Unfreeze Display or press button C on your mobile.

During measurements you can add markers in the measurement file to identify points of interest by selecting Options | Tools | Add Marker. To add a textual marker, select Options | Tools | Add text marker and type in the marker text. To configure predefined markers, select Options | Tools | Add predefined marker and type in the marker text. The markers will automatically be saved on the predefined textual markers list for later use. With the touchscreen phones you can add a marker by pressing the Marker button.

Shortcut button: touchscreen marker button, only for the “basic” marker.

After the configuration, the predefined markers are automatically saved as a list.

Alternatively, press the pencil button (N95), or the ‘1’ key on the mobile phone to add a marker. With touchscreen phones, you are also able to add markers by pressing the Marker button on the bottom of the screen.

You can view the markers when you play back the measurement file in Nemo Handy or in Nemo Outdoor.

You are also able to attach screen capture to measurement file when you take a screen capture while logging. A marker with a name of the date and time will be created. You can then use this information in post-processing, where you can see which of the screens captures were taken during that time.

You can view indoor maps in Nemo Handy and plot the measurement route on the map with markers.

Importing Maps and Defining Map Settings

If this is the first time you are performing indoor measurements with Nemo Handy, you will need to import an indoor map (i.e. a floor plan) to Nemo Handy as an image file. The following image formats are supported: .png, .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, .mbm, .tiff, .tif, and .bmp. Transfer the image file (e.g. Floorplan.jpg) to the memory card of your Nemo Handy terminal by using e.g. a Bluetooth connection, a cable connection, or a memory card reader. You can also take a photo, for example, of an emergency exit plan with the Handy mobile phone camera and use that as an indoor map.In Nemo Handy, select Options | Settings | Indoor Map.

Select Map File | Import Image and browse to the folder where you have the map image. Select the imported image file.

♦ If this is the first time you are performing indoor measurements, Nemo Handy will generate a MapInfo file (.tab) based on the image file. Next time you make measurements and use the same map, Nemo Handy will use the .tab file automatically. A MapInfo map always consists of two files: a MapInfo .tab file and an image file.

Next, define indoor map settings.

Map file allows you to load new indoor maps, as discussed above.

Display indoor map setting defines whether the map is displayed (On) or not (Off).

Draw route setting defines whether the markers placed on the map are connected to draw the measurement route (On) or not (Off).

Route Parameter defines which parameter is used in coloring the indoor route. Indoor route coloring is based on the selected parameter's values, and user-defined or pre-defined limits and color sets.

Pre-defined limits (On/Off) defines whether default limits and colors are used for route parameter, or whether the user would like to define the limits. Select Off to enter user-defined limits for parameter values, parameter color bad and good.

Use geodetic coordinates (On/Off). To define map size based on geodetic coordinates, set Use geodetic coordinates to On.

If Geodetic coordinates is set to On, you can set map scale based on two known coordinate positions. To do this, go to the Indoor Map view. Select Map Tools | Set Scale. Select the first coordinate position on the map with number keys (see table below), press Ok, and enter Latitude and Longitude for the position in decimal degrees (e.g. Latitude 65.0127, Longitude 25.4714). Select the second coordinate position on the map with number keys (see table below), press Ok, and enter Latitude and Longitude for the position.

Note: When entering negative coordinates with Nokia 6720/6720US terminals, read the following. If the existing coordinate value is positive, delete the figure and go one step down with the arrow button. The default value appears with a minus value. Go back, and delete all other digits except the minus character, and enter the negative coordinate.

Geodetic coordinates defines coordinates for the top left and bottom right corners of the map. Enter coordinates in decimal degrees (e.g. Latitude 65.0127, Longitude 25.4714).

Map width in meters displays the default value for the map width in meters.

Map height in meters displays the default value for the map height in meters.

Alternatively, you can also set map scale by selecting a distance from the map and defining the corresponding distance in meters. To do this, go to the Indoor Map view. Select Map Tools | Set Scale. Set start point on the map with number keys (see table below) and press Ok. Set end point and press Ok. Enter the actual distance between the start and end points in meters to the Set distance in meters field and press Ok.

Embed files to log allows you to define whether indoor map and marker files are embedded to the .nbl log file upon export. File manager will separate the map file from the measurement file upon post-processing. You can select among Never, Always, and Ask.

After defining indoor map settings, you are ready to begin measurements.

Performing Indoor Measurements

Go to the Indoor Map view.

To start logging, select Options | Start Logging.

You can move and zoom on the map with the following buttons:

2 = Up

4 = Left 5 = Marker 6 = Right

7 = Zoom out 8 = Down 9 = Zoom in

The same commands are available in the Map Tools menu.

To add a marker, press the button 5 twice.

After the measurements have been performed, stop logging and save the measurement file by selecting Options | Stop logging and Keep. For transferring saved files at a later time, see Exporting and Converting Files on page 120.

Alternatively, you can send the log file via E-mail, FTP or Bluetooth by selecting Options | Stop logging | [Send via FTP/Send via E-mail/Send via Bluetooth]. Both the .mrk marker file and the .nbl measurement file will be automatically sent. Define the settings for your chosen connection if you have not previously done so. For defining connection settings, see Exporting and Converting Files on page 120.

Nemo Handy will ask you whether you want to delete the sent files. Select No to keep copies of the files on the memory card of your Nemo Handy terminal. Select Yes to delete the sent files from the memory card.

If you have performed the measurements using a new map file, you must transfer the new map in both image file and MapInfo file (.tab) format from the folder \Nemo\Maps on your memory card to the computer with the post-processing software.

Using Nokia N97/C5-03/C5-04/C7 Touchpad in Indoor Measurements

The Nokia N97 phone has two input methods in indoor measurements: the keypad and the touchpad.

Go to the Indoor Map view.

To start logging, select Options | Start Logging on the screen by pressing on Options on the touchpad, or by selecting it with the navigation button.

To pan the map, press lightly on the screen until a blue frame appears around it. Alternatively, select Map tools | Show controls to enable controls, or Map tools | Up/Down/Left/Right.

You are also able to lock the screen to prevent you from accidentally switching between different views. To do this, select Map Tools | Lock view. To unlock the screen, select Map Tools | Unlock view. When the screen is locked, a lock icon is shown on the top left side on the screen.

Add a marker by pressing lightly on the touchpad for a couple of seconds until a dialog button with a text Mark opens. Press the dialog button and a marker is added. You can also do this by selecting Map tools | Mark.

To zoom in or zoom out, you can press Zoom in or Zoom out in the touchpad, or select Map tools | Zoom in/Zoom out.

Route plans in indoor measurements

When importing an indoor map into Handy-S, you are also able to import a route plan that you want to follow. First, create a route plan file (.rpf) with Nemo Outdoor. Please refer to the Nemo Outdoor User Manual for instructions. Save the created route plan file and map file and import them to Handy-S. See importing indoor maps for more detailed instructions. Select Options | Settings | Indoor Map file and select the map and route plan. Make sure that the Display indoor map is set On.

Go to the Indoor view and the map will open automatically. Turn logging on by selecting Options | Start Logging and walk according to the route plan. Press Mark button always when you reach the next waypoint on the map. If you make a mistake, it can be cancelled Map Tools | Remove last mark and the measurement can be continued normally.

Start Nemo Outdoor.

If you have performed the indoor measurements using a new map file, select Data | Indoor | New.

Browse to the folder with the .tab file. Select the .tab file and click the Open button.

Post-Processing with Nemo Analyze

Open Nemo Analyze.

Load the measurement file(s) to the Nemo Analyze database by selecting File | Measurement | Open Measurement from the Ribbonbar. This is necessary only if this is the first time you load these particular files to the database.

♦ Note: If you have Nemo File Manager installed on your PC, it is not necessary to convert the files to the Nemo file format before loading them to the Nemo Analyze database. GPS TIME

Time synchronization can be set to occur based on GPS each time before logging begins.

To enable GPS time, select Settings | General and set Use GPS Time to Yes. To disable GPS time, select Settings | General and set Use GPS Time to No.

BTS FILES

Nemo Handy supports BTS files. BTS information, i.e. cell name, site name, distance to site, and cell ID, can be logged and displayed as part of the 1/9 data view.

Note: It is a feature of UMTS technology that cell identity is not reported when the phone is in active state (e.g. during a voice call). Nemo Handy BTS files enable cell identity information to be logged and displayed also in active state based on the following conditions:

• If Nemo Handy has a GPS fix and the BTS file contains the BTS CI in addition to the mandatory parameters Scrambling Code, Channel, and Cell Name, the following cell identity information can be logged and displayed: Cell Name, Site Name, BTS CI, Distance, BTS CI List, and Cell Name List.

• If there is no GPS fix, the following cell identity information can be logged and displayed if the BTS file contains the BTS CI and there are no overlapping scrambling codes: BTS CI list and Cell Name List.

• If Nemo Handy has a GPS fix and the BTS file contains only the mandatory parameters Scrambling Code, Channel, and Cell Name (but no BTS CI), the following cell identity information can be logged and displayed: Cell Name, Site Name, and Cell Name List.

• If there is no GPS fix and the BTS file does not contain the BTS CI, the following cell identity information can be logged and displayed if there are no overlapping scrambling codes: Cell Name List.

• If the BTS file contains characters with ASCII code over 127 (Standard ASCII), the file must be in UTF-8 format. If the file is not in UTF-8 format, and contains characters that require it (e.g. ä, ö, and Chinese characters), an error message appears asking you to save the BTS file in UTF-8 format.

Copy a BTS file (.nbf) to phone memory or memory card.

To select a BTS file, select Options | Settings | BTS | BTS file.

Browse phone memory or memory card for BTS files.

Select a file by pressing Select. BTS file setting displays the name of the BTS file.

SCRIPTS

♦ Note that when the battery on your mobile phone is running out, a prompt appears asking if you would like to stop the script. If there is no reply, Nemo Handy will stop the script automatically.

It is possible to use script files to run measurements with Nemo Handy. When a script is used, Nemo Handy makes voice calls and data transfers automatically.

Scripts can be created and edited either with Nemo Handy’s integrated Script Editor functionality (see Creating scripts p.55) or with the PC software Nemo Handy Script Editor (see the Nemo Utilities user manual for more information). There are also example scripts included in the Nemo Handy package. Script files can be stored both in mobile memory (C:\Data\Nemo\Script folder) and on the memory card (E:\Nemo\Script folder).

♦ Please use only the folders specified above for storing scripts.

To open a script in Nemo Handy, select Options | Script | Open.

Next select a script file from the list of available scripts and select Options | Load. The selected script is loaded. Nemo Handy asks if you would run the selected script now. Select Yes if you want to start running the script now or select No if you want to start it later.

A new Script view appears with information about the selected script.

Once you have loaded a script, you can open it in Script Editor for editing by selecting Options | Edit <scriptname.nsf>. For more information on editing scripts, see C on page 55.

With the AutoLogging option you can force Nemo Handy to start logging when you run a script and stop logging when the script is finished. Select Options | Script | Turn AutoLogging On/Off to activate and deactivate the option.

If you did not start the script directly when it was loaded, select Options | Script | Run to start the script. Nemo Handy starts making the calls/data transfers as defined in the script file. If the autologging option is activated, Nemo Handy will start logging the measurement. The Script view displays the script status.

The script will finish automatically but to interrupt the script, select Options | Script | Stop. If the autologging option is activated, Nemo Handy will stop logging and save the file.

Note that it is also possible to pause a script. When pausing the script, the script will run to the end of the current round and only then is it paused. In this way, no current calls or data transfers are interrupted in the middle, but finished to wait for the next round. When you start the script again, it will start from where it was paused earlier.

When you want to pause a script, select Options | Script | Pause. You can see the status preparing to pause. This means that the round will be finished before pausing the script. You can also cancel the pausing process by selecting Options | Script | Cancel pause.

At the end of a script Nemo Handy asks if you would like to repeat the same script. If there is no reply by the user, the prompt will disappear in 15 minutes and the script will not be run again.

You can follow the script by scrolling down all the way to the end of the script view. The script history view displays the progress of the script from beginning to end.

CREATING SCRIPTS

You can create scripts with Nemo Handy’s integrated Script Editor functionality. First define your access point. Select Options | Script | Select Access Point and select your access point from the list. If you do not select an access point, Nemo Handy will use the default access point.

After you have defined the access point, select Options | Script | Open.

In the Script Files view, select Options | New.

An empty script is created and opened in the Script Editor main view.

To add script commands, select Options | Add Script Command | [command type]. For more information on individual script command options, see page 59.

To lock a script to a specific system, channel, carrier or scrambling code, select System, Channel or Carrier item from the settings bar at the top of the Script Editor view using the Navigation button. Press the Navigation button center to select one of the lock types. Note: When using locks with scripts, it is recommended that a 10-second Wait command be added to the beginning of the script. This ensures that the lock has enough time to activate before other script commands become active. For more information on the Wait command, see Loop on page 69.

♦ Note that with Nokia N97 you can use the touchpad for the same commands.

Add loops in a script to repeat other script commands or the whole script. You cannot loop other loops.

To add a loop in a script, select Options | Add Script Command | Loop in the Script Editor main view.

In the Repeat the Loop field you can determine how many times the loop is repeated.

Any script command can be looped within the script, also the whole script. Place the LoopStart and LoopStop commands before and after the command(s) you wish to loop, respectively. Use the Move command in the Options | Add Script Command menu for this.

Alternatively, you can lock a script to a specific system, channel, or scrambling code by selecting Options | Forcing | [Channel Lock/Scrambling Code Lock/Carrier lock/System Lock].

Voice and Video Call

Phone Number defines the recipient phone number.

Call End Condition (Note: Call End Condition supported with voice call only) defines an end condition for the call based on the active system (When system is GSM/When system is UMTS), i.e. the call is terminated when a specific system becomes active. Note: If a Call End Condition is defined, Call Duration (see below) countdown will begin only after Call End Condition terminates the call. Thus it is recommended that also Call Duration (see below) be defined. This is to ensure that the events after the handover are logged as well.

Ping

Server Name defines the name of the server.

Size defines the size of the ping package in kilobytes.

Timeout defines the maximum duration (in seconds) of the ping attempt.

Delay defines the delay time in seconds.

Delay Type defines the type of delay. Select Delay between requests to set a delay time between ping requests. Select Delay from reply to request to set a delay time between a ping reply and a new ping request.

Repeat Type defines the type of repeat. Select Repeat times to repeat ping for a defined number of times. Select Repeat until stopped to repeat ping an undefined number of times from ping start command to ping stop command while running other script commands in between.

Repeat times defines the number of times ping is repeated.

IPerf TCP/UDP

♦ Note that the iPerf TCP/iPerf UDP command must be situated in the script between the Packet Session commands PacketActivate and PacketDeactivate.

Host name is the IP address used in Nemo Server.

Port refers to the port used by Nemo Server. For TCP and UDP protocols, the default port is 5001.

Connection timeout defines the time in seconds for how long Nemo Handy waits for the connection to be established. If a connection is not established within the defined time, connection attempt will fail.

Direction defines whether you are sending or receiving data, or both.

TCP window size defines the size of the receive window during TCP/IP transmission. If it is too small, it can decrease the maximum data throughput, and if it is too high it can increase the retransmission round-trip time (RTT). To be able to avoid decrease of data throughput, the window size should be at least the maximum throughput multiplied by RTT. For example, with HSDPA with category 8 the maximum throughput is about 7.3 Mbit/s and RTT is about 100 ms. To avoid reduction of the throughput the TCP window size should be set at least to 7.3 Mbit/s * 0.1 s = 730 kbit = 91.25 kB.

UDP bandwidth defines how much data is attempted to be transmitted. Since UDP does not guarantee successful data transmission, it is not limited by maximum throughput of the lower layers. If higher data transmission rate is used, the packet error rate (PER) increases. For example, if lower layers are capable of transmitting 100kbit/s and UDP bandwidth is configured to 400kbit/s, there should be a 75% packet error rate (only every fourth packet has been able to transmit successfully). Naturally UDP bandwidth should not be configured too small since it limits the maximum throughput that is not normally desired.

UDP datagram size defines the size of the UDP packet in bytes. It should be smaller than the maximum packet size of the lower layers to be able to avoid packet fragmentation in the lower layers. Packet fragmentation has a huge negative impact to the achieved data throughput and it should be avoided. On the other hand if too small UDP packet size is used the portion of the UDP and IP header increases which decreases the amount of transmitted user data with the result of smaller data throughput. Normally good maximum value for UDP datagram is a little bit less than maximum Ethernet packet size which is 1,500 bytes. A good default value for the UDP datagram size is 1,460 bytes.

Transfer limit defined whether transfer limit is defined in terms of duration or data size.

Transfer duration(s) defines the length of the data transfer in seconds.

Transfer data size defines the length of the total data transfer in kilobytes; that is, the transfer finishes when the defined amount of data has been transferred. The size of the individual data packages is defined in the Packet Size field.

Transfer duration defines the length of the data transfer in seconds.

Transfer timeout(s) determines the maximum waiting time in seconds after data connection. If the transfer attempt timeout value is exceeded before data connection, the data connection attempt will be stopped and the attempt will be marked as a failure. The range of Transfer Attempt Timeout values is from 0 to 60 seconds. The value is recommended to be at least 10 seconds.

Receive E-mail

♦ Note that Receive E-mail command must be situated in the script between the Packet Session commands PacketActivate and PacketDeactivate.

To add a script command for receiving e-mail, select Options | Add Script Command | Msg/E-mail | Receive E-mail in the Script Editor main view.

Server Name defines the e-mail host address.

User Name defines the host site logon user name

Password defines the host site logon password.

Port defines the host port.

Attempt Timeout defines the maximum duration (in seconds) of the transfer attempt.

Maximum number of messages defines the maximum number of messages the terminal will receive from the server.

Delete messages from server (On/Off), if set to On, deletes the retrieved messages from the server.

Send E-mail

Video Streaming

To add a script command for video streaming, select Options | Add Script Command | Streaming in the Script Editor main view.

Url defines the Url address.

Duration (seconds) defines the duration (in seconds) of the video streaming connection.

Attempt Timeout defines the maximum duration (in seconds) of the video streaming connection attempt.

Loop

Add loops in a script to repeat other script commands or the whole script. You cannot loop other loops.

To add a loop in a script, select Options | Add Script Command | Loop in the Script Editor main view.

In the Repeat the Loop field you can determine how many times the loop is repeated.

Any script command can be looped within the script, also the whole script. Place the LoopStart and LoopStop commands before and after the command(s) you wish to loop, respectively. Use the Move command in the Options | Add Script Command menu for this.

Wait

To add a pause in the script, select Options | Add Script Command | Wait in the Script Editor main view.

Wait(seconds) defines the wait period in seconds.

Wait Condition defines an indefinite wait period until a specific system is active (Until system is GSM/ Until system is UMTS).

♦ If a Wait Condition is defined, it is recommended that also a wait period (i.e. Wait(seconds), see above) be defined. This is to ensure that logging starts only after handover has successfully occurred.

From defines the condition for the pause to occur: Current time defines a wait period between two commands in the script, Call Attempt, Video Call Attempt, and Context Activation Attempt define a wait period after the selected event notification.

MEASUREMENT LISTS

Measurement lists enable you to run automated measurements combining multiple scripts. You can use measurement lists to run several scripts one after another.

Start Nemo Handy and select Options | Script | Measurement List.

In the Measurement list view, select Options. In the Options menu you can choose whether to save each script in the Measurement list as a separate log file or collectively as a log file. You can also do this later on after selecting scripts in the measurement list.

Select Options| Record as single log file to save each script in the measurement list in the same log file.

Select Options | Record as separate log files to save each script as its own log file.

Select Options | Add to select the scripts that you wish to add in the measurement list. Note that you need to have existing, previously created scripts to choose from.

After adding scripts to the new measurement list, you can change the order of the scripts by selecting Options | Move. After moving the script up or down in the list, select Options | OK to finalize the move.

Select Options | Delete to remove a script from the measurement list.

To edit individual script durations, select a script, then Options | Edit.

Use the Navigation button on your Nemo Handy terminal to select a condition for the script. The selected condition will define the duration of the script, after which the following script in the list will start.

Press the centre of the Navigation button to view all of the options at once, and select one.

Press right or left on the Navigation button to scroll through the options.

Select the Run script | Until finished option to run the script until it is finished.

Select the Run script | Until file size to specify the file size (in kB) at which the script should be stopped.

Select the Run script | Max. time of option if you wish to define a time limit for the script. When the script reaches the defined time, it will be stopped.

Select the Run script | Specified time option if you wish to specify the length of the script. The script will be stopped when it reaches this time limit.

Note that you can only scroll to the left and right when the Run script field is selected.

To stop the current script in the measurement list, select Options | Script | Stop. The currently running script is stopped, and the next script in the list is started.

To stop a measurement list, select Options | Script | Stop meas. list.

Select Options | Save to save the measurement list. It will be saved in the phone memory, Nemo | Config folder as a MeasurementList.dat file.

Select Options | Back to exit the Measurement list view.

Note that the user needs to manually start the measurement list through Options | Run.

AUTO ANSWER MODE

When Nemo Handy is in auto answer mode, it answers all incoming calls: voice calls and 3G video calls. This feature is especially useful when you are making video calls between two Nemo Handy mobiles. Just set the other mobile in auto answer mode and run a video call script on the other mobile. Select Options | Settings | Auto Answer to activate/deactivate the mode.

♦ Note that when you are running a script or making manual calls from Nemo Handy, the Auto Answer option is turned off.

NOTIFICATIONS

Audio notifications and notification icons can be used to notify you of important measurement events. Notification icons, when enabled, appear in the measurement graphs when important measurement events happen. Notifications are edited with the Nemo Handy Configuration Manager tool and stored in the configuration file (.xml).

Select Options | Settings | Properties | Notifications. A list of available audio notifications and notification icons is displayed.

Selected notifications are marked with a check mark. You can select and deselect each notification by selecting an item from the list and pressing the navigation button.

To deselect all notifications at once, select Options | Mark/Unmark | Unmark All.

♦ Note that when the mobile is in silent profile, the notifications are muted as well.

You can test how the notifications sound like by selecting a notification from the list and selecting Options | Test Sound.

To adjust notification volume, go back to Options | Settings | Properties and select Notification volume.

Adjust the volume using the left and right arrow buttons and select OK.

Below are listed all the default notifications in Nemo Handy and the conditions when each notification is triggered. You may notice some differences between the notifications in Nemo Handy and in Nemo Analyze/ Nemo Outdoor. For example, Nemo Handy classifies all calls that were originated from Nemo Handy but terminated from another mobile as dropped calls, even if it were a normal call disconnect. In Nemo Analyze, these calls are classified as normal disconnects.

Channel Lock

With Channel Lock Nemo Handy can be locked on a GSM channel. Select Options | Forcing | Channel Lock. Select Lock to activate the channel lock. Enter the number of the channel that you want to lock to and press OK.

When you wish to unlock the mobile from the channel, select Options | Forcing | Channel Lock | Unlock.

Scrambling Code Lock

With the Scrambling Code Lock the mobile can be locked on a carrier and a scrambling code. Select Options | Forcing | Scrambling Code Lock. Select Lock to activate the scrambling code lock. Enter the number of the carrier (UARFCN) and the scrambling code that you want to lock to and press OK.

When you wish to unlock the mobile from the carrier and scrambling code, select Options | Forcing | Scrambling Code Lock | Unlock.

Carrier Lock

With the Carrier Lock the mobile can be locked to a carrier. Select Options | Forcing | Carrier Lock. Select Lock to activate the carrier lock. Enter the number of the carrier (UARFCN) that you want to lock to and press OK.

System Lock

With the System Lock feature, the mobile can be locked to a specific system. Select Options | Forcing | System Lock. Select Lock to activate the system lock. Select the system that you want to lock to.

When you wish to unlock the mobile from the system, select Options | Forcing | System Lock | Disable.

Cell Barring

In Cell Barring the options are accept, reverse, and ignore. The Status view will display the status for each forcing feature. Select Options | Forcing | Cell Barring. Select Reverse or Ignore to activate the cell barring.

When the Accept option is selected, only those cells that are accessible to all end users can be accessed; with the Ignore option, all cells, that is, also cells that are barred can be accessed; and with the Reverse option only barred cells can be accessed.

When you wish to disable the cell barring, select Options | Forcing | Cell Barring | Accept.

Assisted Handover

Nemo Handy offers support for manually initiated handovers from the current serving cell to a selected target cell.

Manually initiated handovers require an active voice call connection. To initiate a voice call, press the green Make Call button, select Voice call, enter the number to the To field, and press the green Make Call button again.

During the voice call, in Nemo Handy, select Options | Forcing | Assist handover.

Define handover settings.

Suppress HO after assisted defines whether handovers are to be suppressed after the initial handover to the selected target cell. To suppress subsequent handovers, select Yes. To allow subsequent handovers, select No.

Select from list opens a list of available cells. Select a target cell from list.

Carrier defines the target cell using carrier code.

Scrambling code defines the target cell using scrambling code.

Enhance Ec/No increases the Ec/No of the selected target cell by the value entered. The enhanced target cell Ec/No value is reported to the base station to facilitate handover to the selected cell.

Enhance RSCP increases the RSCP of the selected target cell by the value entered. The enhanced target cell RSCP value is reported to the base station to facilitate handover to the selected cell.

Degrade Ec/No decreases the Ec/No of all potential target cells other than the selected target cell by the value entered. The degraded Ec/No values are reported to the base station to prevent handover to other optimal cells.

Degrade RSCP decreases the RSCP of all potential target cells other than the selected target cell by the value entered. The degraded RSCP values are reported to the base station to prevent handover to other optimal cells.

To perform a handover to the selected cell, press OK.

If Yes was selected in Suppress handover after assisted, further handovers are suppressed.

To disable handover suppression, select Options | Forcing | Disable HO suppression.

Suppress Handover

MULTI MEASUREMENTS

The Nemo Handy Multi option allows for large-scale measurements with up to seven (7) test terminals. One Nemo Handy (Nokia 6720, 6720US, N85, N85US, N97, N97US, C5, C5-03, C5-03US, C5-04AWS terminals) acts as a Master unit, and conducts measurements while sending commands to 1-6 Slave terminals through a Bluetooth connection. One GPS device, connected to the Master unit, is shared among all Nemo Handy Multi units. When using Nokia N97/N97US as Master unit, you can deploy 1-5 Slave terminals and one GPS device in Multi measurements.

The Nemo Handy Multi configuration allows for both manual and scripted measurements, controlled through the Master unit.

Make sure that you have selected a Nokia 6720, 6720US, N85, N85US, N97, N97US, C5, C5-03, C5-03 US, or C5-04AWS terminal as the Master unit (Options | Multi | Start master mode). Any Nemo Handy terminal with the appropriate Slave option can be used as a Slave unit.

♦ Note that you need to set the APN for each Nemo Handy terminal separately. It is not possible to configure the Slaves’ APN’s from the Master unit. Go to Options | Script | Select access point in each Nemo Handy to configure the APN. If the APN is not configured correctly, data transfers will not work.

1. Check that Bluetooth is turned on in all Nemo Handy terminals (Menu | Tools | Bluetooth). In addition, check the Bluetooth name for the used test terminals. This way you can more easily distinguish among the slaves when sending commands to them from the Master unit.

♦ Note that it will also be useful to attach the unit names on the terminals to make their recognition during measurements easier.

2. Start Nemo Handy one terminal at a time.

3. In the Nemo Handy Master terminal, go to Options | Settings | General | GPS. Make sure that Bluetooth GPS is selected in the menu.

4. Connect the GPS device with the Nemo Handy Master unit. See page 16 for information on how to do this.

5. In Nemo Handy Slave units, select Options | Multi | Start slave mode.

6. Next, in the Master unit, select Options | Multi | Start master mode.

♦ The Nokia N97 terminal has a slightly different user interface for the Master terminal. See page 90 for more information.

7. The Master unit automatically detects the Slave units and displays a list of available slaves. Select slaves with the right arrow button and press the Navigation button to connect to the slaves.

8. If you wish to connect more devices later on, or if you for any reason need to reconnect the devices, select Options | Multi | Discover slave units/Reconnect slave units in the Master unit. Detecting the Slaves may take a while.

9. Make sure that you are in the Status view in Nemo Handy in the Master unit. Press the Navigation button on your Master terminal to view the Device Info view at the top of the Nemo Handy view. The Device Info view will show you the detected Slave terminals and their status: Disconnected or Connected.

♦ Note that pressing the # button in the terminal keypad will zoom in on the view, and * will zoom out of the view. Pressing the Navigation button again will make the Device Info view disappear.

♦ Note the functionalities of the Navigation key:

Navigation button (middle): View Device Info view/Exit Device Info view

Navigation button (right): Press once to select a device in Device Info view. Press again (on the selected device) to activate the script list, so a script can be selected for the device. At this point the Device Info view turns darker, and the script list is lit up.

Navigation button (left): Deselects a device in the Device Info view, or reactivates the Device Info view when the script list is activated.

Navigation button (up/down): Lets the user go up and down in Device Info view and in the script list

Running Scripts

1. To go to the Script view, select Options | Script | Open.

2. Next, select the Master unit or one of the Slaves with the Navigation button. Press on the right arrow button once to select a unit, and for the second time to select a script for the device in the script list.

3. Press on the Navigation button to select a script for the selected terminal in the script list.

4. Next, press on the left arrow button in the Navigation to reactivate the Device Info view. Select a terminal and a script for it, as instructed in steps 10 and 11.

5. The selected script for each unit will show in the Device Info view next to the Device name under the Script name column.

6. To change a script selected for a device, press twice on the Navigation right arrow button on the device in the Device Info view, and select a new script in the script list.

7. If you want to deselect a script that has been selected for the slave, select the device in the Device Info view and press the C key. Note that you can only deselect a script for a slave unit, but not for the Master unit.

8. When you are done selecting scripts for the terminals, select Options | Run.

♦ The duration of the script running in the Master unit determines the total length of the measurement. Consequently, you need to pay attention to the duration of the scripts sent to the Slaves, as those scripts will also end the moment the Master unit script is finished.

9. The Slave units receive the commands and start running the scripts. Note that you can only end the scripts via the Master unit.

10. To stop the scripts, select Options | Scripts | Stop. Note that when you enter this command, all scripts will be stopped. It is not possible to only stop one or some of the scripts.

11. To remove a slave from the Multi configuration, select Options | Multi | Remove slave unit in the Status or Script view of the Master unit. This will remove only those devices that are selected in the Device Info view.

12. After the Master script is finished, the Slave units go to rest as well. Each terminal has a measurement/log file (.nbl) stored in the default measurement file folder on the phone.

13. You have two options regarding the storage of the measurement files. First, if you want the Master unit to retrieve the measurement files produced by the slave units, go to Options | Multi | Collect log files. If you decide not to do this, the measurement/log files will remain in the slave units, and need to be exported to another location separately.

Manual Measurements

1. If you want to perform manual voice calls using a Master unit and slaves, do as instructed above regarding the terminal settings for Bluetooth, and for the Master and Slave terminals.

2. Select the Slaves you want to use for voice call measurements, and press the green call key to make a call.

3. To conduct SMS/MMS/Video call measurements, select one or more Slave terminal in the Device Info view, configure the measurement settings as instructed in SMS/MMS/Video call testing in this manual, and send the command to the Slave unit(s) via a Bluetooth connection.

4. Similarly, you can opt to collect the log files from the Slaves to the Master unit by selecting Options | Multi | Collect log files, or leave them in the Slave units.

Nokia N97 as Master Terminal in Multi Measurements

The main difference between Nokia N97 and the other Handy terminals is the touchpad in N97. Note that mostly there will be two ways of input: the touchpad and keypad on the terminal. At times only touchpad can be used. You can use 1-5 Slave terminals with Nokia N97/N97US Master unit.

1. Check that Bluetooth is turned on in all Nemo Handy terminals (Menu | Tools | Bluetooth). In addition, check the Bluetooth name for the test terminals. This way you can more easily distinguish among the slaves when sending commands to them from the Master unit.

♦ Note that it will also be useful to attach the unit names on the terminals to make their physical recognition during measurements easier.

2. Start Nemo Handy one terminal at a time.

3. In the Nemo Handy N97 Master terminal, go to Options | Settings | General | GPS. Make sure that Bluetooth GPS is selected in the menu.

4. Connect the GPS device with the Nemo Handy Master unit. See page 16 for information on how to do this.

5. In Nemo Handy Slave units, select Options | Multi | Start slave mode.

6. Next, in the Master unit, select Options | Multi | Start master mode.

7. The Master unit automatically detects the Slave units. However, if you wish to connect more devices later on, or if you for any reason need to connect or reconnect the devices, select Options | Multi | Discover slave units/Reconnect slave units in the Master unit. Detecting the Slaves may take a while.

9. Press Change on the touchpad to go to MultiHandy Master view. Similarly, exit the MultiHandy Master view by pressing Change on the touchpad. The same function can be performed by pressing on the Navigator button. The MultiHandy Master view shows the status of the selected terminal.

10. In the Device info page, to view each device box magnified, press on the box for a couple of seconds or select Zoom in on the touchpad.

Running scripts

13. To run scripts, select a unit in the Device info view, and press on Load on the touchpad.

14. Select a script for the unit in the list of scripts that appears.

16. To select the same script for one or more units, select the check box at the upper left hand corner of each unit box through the touchpad or pressing down on the Navigation button, then Load.

♦ The duration of the script running in the Master unit determines the total length of the measurement. Consequently, you need to pay attention to the duration of the scripts sent to the Slaves, as those scripts will also end the moment the Master unit script is finished.

19. To stop the scripts, select Stop script on the touchpad, or select Options | Script | Stop.

20. After the scripts have finished or have been stopped, there are two ways of reaching the script log. Basically, the Change button works in the following way:

• When Device info view is selected, Change/Navigation button will take you to MasterHandy view. Similarly, pressing Change/Navigation button in MasterHandy view will take you to Device info view.

• When script log view is shown, pressing Change/Navigation button will take you to Device listing view, and vice versa.

If the scripts were stopped by pressing on the Stop script button on the touchpad, the Device info view appears after the scripts are stopped.

Select a unit whose script log you wish to view in the Device info view. Press on Change to enter the MultiHandy Master view.

Press the right arrow button on the Navigation button or touchpad to enter the script log.

The Master unit and all the slaves are listed in the device listing at the top of the screen. The selected unit, in the case above N95 Slave unit, determines the script log shown at the bottom of the screen. To view the script log in full screen, press on the Navigation button, or Change on the touchpad.

You can see the unit name at the top of the screen and script below it. Press on Change to view the device list again, and do the same as instructed above to view each unit’s script log separately.

If the script was stopped through Options | Script | Stop, the Device listing view appears immediately. Select a unit in the Device info box, and press Change to see the unit’s script log.

Select Change again to select another device and view its script log.

To remove slave units, go to the units you want to remove, and press left or down on the Navigation button or use the touchpad. A check mark appears in the left upper hand corner of the unit’s box. After selecting the units you wish to remove, select Options | Multi | Remove slave unit. If no units are selected, all units will be removed.

After measurements have been completed, collect the log files from the Slaves to the Master unit by selecting Options | Multi | Collect log files, or leave them in the Slave units.

Manual Measurements with Nokia N97 Master Terminal

1. If you want to perform manual voice calls using a Master unit and slaves, do as instructed above regarding the terminal settings for Bluetooth, and for the Master and Slave terminals.

2. Select the Slaves you want to use for voice call measurements by pressing left or down on the Navigation button or use the touchpad while the unit is selected in the Device listing or Device info view. A check mark will appear in next to or above the unit. Next, press the green call key to make a call. Define a phone number and press the green call button again.

3. To conduct SMS/MMS/Video call measurements, select one or more Slave terminals in the Device Info view, configure the measurement settings as instructed in SMS/MMS/Video call testing in this manual, and send the command to the Slave unit(s) via a Bluetooth connection.

4. You can also do all of the above through Options | Tools | <the command>.

5. Collect the log files from the Slaves to the Master unit by selecting Options | Multi | Collect log files, or leave them in the Slave units.

CELL TESTING

Nemo Handy offers support for cell testing. This feature makes it possible to test the voice and PDP services of the cells on the neighbor list and voice handovers. During PDP Context testing you can also do a HTTP transfer.

To initiate cell testing, select Options | Testing | Cell testing. Define testing session properties.

Test mode defines the services that are to be tested. Select Voice, PDP, Voice and PDP, Voice and HTTP, HTTP or Voice handover.

With Voice, PDP and Voice and PDP modes, when testing is started the monitored neighbor cells exceeding the specified threshold (RX Level for GSM default -95, Ec/N0 for UMTS, default -12) are stored, and the mobile will be locked to each neighboring cell in turn after which a voice call and/or PDP context is performed to test the channel.

Tested channels/scrambling codes will be displayed as a table with status indicating voice and packet test results. Outputs are also written to a CSV file.

With HTTP (HTTP Transfer) mode, the user can load a webpage during the Cell Testing process to check that the application data works in the tested cell.

With the Voice handover option, the first step is finding the neighboring cells. Second, an assisted handover is performed from the original cell to the neighboring cell. In the third phase an assisted handover is performed back to the original cell. Consequently, the second and third phases are repeated until all neighboring cells have been tested. The initial call to find neighbors is not disconnected in this test, but the whole sequence of testing is performed during the same phone call. If the call drops/disconnects, then a new call is attempted for the next cell test. In the result file the first line is "Cell Testing Report (Voice handover)".

Rx level defines the minimum required Rx level the cells must have in order for them to be tested.

EcN0 defines the minimum required EcN0 the cells must have in order for them to be tested.

Phone number defines the test number to which the calls are to be made during the testing session.

Call duration(s) defines the duration in seconds for a voice call when Voice or Voice and PDP is selected in the Test mode field.

Max attempts defines the maximum number of calls to be made during the testing session.

Access point defines the access point that is to be used during the testing session.

URL defines which file is being downloaded from the HTTP server during HTTP test. For instance, when URL has been given as http://www.csc.fi/logo_footer.gif, a file named logo_footer.gif will be downloaded from www.csc.fi server if HTTP or Voice and HTTP is selected in the Test Mode field.

Result file defines the name of the result file.

Monitor the testing session results via the Testing View.

To cancel a cell testing session before it has ended, select Options | Testing | Stop cell testing.

TIMESLOT TESTING

Nemo Handy offers support for timeslot testing. The feature makes it possible to test the timeslots of a particular channel.

To initiate timeslot testing, select Options | Testing | Timeslot testing. Define testing session properties.

BCCH defines the channel number of the channel that is to be tested.

Phone number defines the test number to which the calls are to be made during the testing session.

Number of attempts defines whether the number of calls made during the testing session is Unlimited or Limited.

Max number of attempts defines the number of calls to be made during the testing session. This option is displayed only if Number of calls is set to Limited.

Result file defines the name of the result file.

If it is known that certain timeslots in the network have been dedicated for purposes other than voice calls, these timeslots should be disabled. This is to prevent these timeslots from being incorrectly marked as failures in the testing session results.

System defines the system and bandwidth for the scanning session.

RSCP limit (UMTS only) defines an RSCP limit that enables the exclusion of distant cells. Values range from -120 dBm to -25 dBm.

Channel range from defines the start point for the range of included channels. Values range from 128 to 251.

Channel range to defines the end point for the range of included channels. Values range from 128 to 251.

Report defines whether All results or only 30 best are displayed.

BSIC decoding defines whether base station identification codes are decoded. This affects the duration of the scanning session.

To initiate a scanning session, select a scanning session in the Scanning editor and select Options | Start. To open an existing scanning session for editing, select the session in the Scanning editor and select Options | Edit. To remove an existing scanning session, select the session in the Scanning editor and select Options | Remove.

With UMTS scanning it is possible to hide unwanted carriers in the scanning results. In the results view, select Display | Filtered UARFCNs.

Select a carrier in the Scanned UARFCNs list, then Options | Add to filtered list. If you want to remove a filtered carrier, select the carrier, then Options | Delete. You can also add the carriers to the Filtered UARFCNs list or remove them by selecting the carrier and pressing on the phone Navigation button.

Go to the Filtered UARFCNs list, and select Options | Add new if you want to manually enter the carrier number to be added. Select OK.

To manually test sending SMS and MMS messages, turn logging on by selecting Options | Start Logging, press the green Make Call button, and select SMS or MMS.

Nemo Handy offers support for SMS and MMS end-to-end logging between two Nemo Handy terminals. The message is sent from Client to Server and the end-to-end time is logged. These end-to-end log entries can be post-processed and analyzed with Nemo Analyze and Nemo Outdoor.

Bluetooth Synchronization

First the time of the two terminals must be synchronized. Start by enabling Bluetooth on the terminals. After that, select Options | Tools | Synchronize System Time. Select Bluetooth (Server) for one of the Nemo Handy phones, and Bluetooth (Client) for the other. A successful connection synchronizes the Client phone’s time with that of the Server phone.

Infrared Synchronization (N95)

First the time of the two terminals must be synchronized. Select Options | Tools | Synchronize System Time. Select Infrared (Client) for one of the Nemo Handy phones, and Infrared (Server) for the other. Place the Nemo Handy phones in infrared connection position. A successful connection synchronizes the Client phone’s time with that of the Server phone.

SMS Sending

Next, select Options | Start Logging.

VOICE QUALITY TESTING

Nemo Handy-S supports both manual and scripted voice quality measurements. Voice quality measurements enable the evaluation of both up and downlink voice quality of a live network based on the 'average' listener's perception of voice quality represented as a Mean Opinion Score (MOS). Downlink voice quality is measured using Psytechnics’ PSM Mobile module and uplink using Perceptual Evaluation of Speech Quality (PESQ). There is an option to use either PSM or PESQ with Nemo Handy-S voice quality measurements. Downlink PESQ calculation, based on the ITU-T P.862.1 standard, is performed by File Manager. File Manager processes all the voice quality measurement samples and uses the PESQ algorithm to calculate the MOS score, and writes it to the log file.

To prevent interference when calling to a voice quality test server or when receiving an audio test packet, mute phone microphone by setting Mute Microphone (On/Off) On. Initiate audio test sample sending with another Nemo Handy.

Call an audio test server or call/receive a call from the other Nemo Handy. Monitor downlink voice quality MOS and the related parameters via the appropriate data views.

To measure voice quality using Perceptual Evaluation of Speech Quality (PESQ) select Options | Settings and browse the Settings pages with the right Navigation button until you reach Quality settings. In the Voice quality field, select PESQ downlink/uplink.

In order to make PESQ Voice Quality measurements, you will also need the Nemo Audio Quality server.

During PESQ voice quality measurements, Nemo Handy will record the voice samples and save all files. After the measurement is completed, Nemo Handy uploads all the measurement files and samples to the Nemo Server. Nemo File Manager will process all the files, calculate the MOS score for each recorded sample and write the time stamped scores in the log file.

Downlink sample defines the downlink reference sample (.wav). You will find preinstalled audio files on your Nemo Handy-S.

Downlink sync defines the downlink voice quality synchronization file (.wav).

Uplink sample defines the uplink reference sample (.amr).

Uplink sync defines the uplink voice quality synchronization file (.amr).

Nemo Handy offers support for video streaming quality testing. The feature makes it possible to measure video streaming quality with Nemo Handy while receiving a video stream from a URL.

To measure video streaming quality based on Mean Opinion Score (MOS):

Select Options | Settings and browse to Quality settings with the Navigation button right.

Set video streaming quality testing mode on by setting Video Quality (On/Off) On.

Run a video streaming script or open a video stream manually. To open a video stream manually, select Options | Tools | Video test | Open URL and define the URL you want to open. Select OK.

Monitor video streaming quality MOS and the related parameters using the appropriate data views.

ENDING MEASUREMENTS

The measurement is being recorded when Logging State is Logging in the Status view. Follow these instructions to stop the measurement.

∇ To end the measurements:

1. Stop all calls and data connections.

2. Select Options | Stop Logging. Nemo Handy will stop the recording.

3. Select if you wish to save the measurement with the default name (Keep), save the measurement with a new name (Rename), delete the file (Delete), send it to an FTP server (Send via FTP), or send it to an e-mail address (Send via e-mail).

4. If you wish to exit Nemo Handy, select Exit.

The measurement file (.nbl) can be exported to a computer and converted into Nemo File Format. After conversion, the Nemo Handy measurement files can be viewed and analyzed in Nemo Outdoor and Nemo Analyze.

EXPORTING AND CONVERTING FILES

Measurement files need to be exported from Nemo Handy and converted into standard Nemo File Format. You can export files automatically on an FTP server (see page 120), via e-mail (see page 121), or manually on a PC (see page 121).

Send Log Files via FTP

You can configure Nemo Handy to automatically send measurement data on an FTP server.

♦ Note that this functionality is available only if your Nemo Handy license supports it.

First define FTP Settings. Select Options | Settings | Transfer | FTP for log files.

Server address defines the IP address for the FTP server, for example, 12.34.56.78

Port defines the port number for the FTP server, for example, 21.

FTP subdirectory defines the folder on the FTP server where files can be uploaded, for example, upload.

♦ Note that the FTP subdirectory, username, and password are case sensitive. Also note that Nemo Handy uses passive FTP connection mode by default.

Identification mode defines whether a user-defined prefix or the mobile IMEI code is added to the log file name when files are sent from Nemo Handy.

Prefix adds a user-defined prefix to all log files that are sent from Nemo Handy.

For configuring your computer’s Bluetooth receiver and for performing Bluetooth pairing between your computer and Nemo Handy, see Bluetooth Pairing on page 19.

Once you have configured your computer’s Bluetooth receiver and successfully performed Bluetooth pairing between your computer and Nemo Handy, open Nemo File Manager (PC software).

Send Custom Configuration Files between Nemo Handy Units

You can transfer custom configuration files between Nemo Handy units using an FTP connection.

♦ Note that when sending custom configuration files between Handy terminals, the sending and receiving terminals should be of the same model, e.g. Nokia N96 and N96, or Nokia 6720 and 6720.

The receiving Nemo Handy terminal should receive an SMS message with the name of the sent script file, as well as the folder location, FTP server address, port number, username and password information so it can retrieve the script file from the described FTP server.

Exporting Files Manually

Connect the Nokia USB data cable to the mobile and to a USB port on a PC. Windows will automatically detect the USB device. Select Data Transfer Mode on your Nemo Handy mobile. The measurement files (.nbl) will be on the memory card in folder Nemo\Results. Copy and save the files on the PC where you have installed Nemo File Manager.

Converting Measurement Files to Nemo File Format

♦ Please note that a Nemo File Manager USB copy protection dongle with the voice quality option is needed to convert Nemo Handy log files with AQDL events (MOS scores). Without the dongle, the converted file will not include the MOS scores.

Start the Nemo File Manager utility by selecting Start | Programs | Nemo Tools | Nemo File Manager.

To select measurement files to be converted, click the Add Items button. This opens the Rule Settings dialog.

In the Rule Settings dialog, click Add File to browse to the appropriate folder, select the file(s), and click OK or click Add Folder to select a whole folder. The selected file appears in the New Source view.

File extension filtering makes it possible for you to define which file extension will be used in the conversion rule.

Uncompress archive files enables you to uncompress zipped archive files.

Convert .nbl files allows you to choose files with .nbl endings to be converted.

No timing disables Conversion Timing.

Conversion timed between defines a time range during which conversion operations are allowed to be performed.

Source File Actions defines how the source files are handled after they have been converted.

• None leaves the source file in the original folder but adds the extension ‘processed’ in the file name.

• Delete deletes the source file after conversion.

• Move to folder moves the source file to a selected folder after conversion. Click the Browse button to select a folder.

Use source folder as destination folder, when selected, enables the source folder to act as a destination folder

Destination folder defines a location for the converted files. Click the Browse button to select a folder.

The Embed indoor marker coordinates option allows you to embed marker coordinates from a separate .mrk file to the .nmf file that is created with the File manager. This allows the user, for example, to export indoor measurement files to MapInfo files without losing the coordinates.

After you have added all the files and folders, click OK to start the conversion process. When the conversion is finished, the Status column will display Finished. The converted file will be in the selected destination folder with the same file name but with a new extension.

∇ Converting measurement files:

1. Start the Nemo File Manager utility by selecting Start | Programs | Nemo Tools | Nemo File Manager.

2. To select measurement files to be converted, click the Add Items button.

3. In the Rule Settings dialog, click Add File to browse to the appropriate folder, select the file(s), and click OK or click Add Folder to select a whole folder. The selected file appears in the New Source Items view.

4. Select the destination folder for the converted files and define the post-processing method for the source files.

5. Click OK to start the conversion process.

When the Status column displays Finished you can close the utility by clicking Exit.

NEMO HANDY PLAYBACK

It is possible to view Nemo Handy measurement files immediately after a measurement also via the Nemo Handy playback functionality. This feature is convenient when you, for example, want to solve a specific problem in a certain area, and would like to obtain quick answers.

1. You first need to have saved measurement files on your Nemo Handy.

2. Next, start Nemo Handy, and go to Options | Tools | File Manager. Select a measurement file in the list, select Options, and Playback.

3. The Status view displaying log file related information appears. Select Options | Play. You can now browse through the different Handy views.

4. By pressing down the C key you can enter the time control view. It appears in the middle of the screen. Pressing the Navigation buttons left and right you can move backward and forward in the measurement time. A single click will move the measurement by a minute, and pressing the left and right buttons down will rewind or forward the measurement at an increasing speed. By pressing the Navigation button down you can pause and play the measurement file. Press C to exit the time control.

♦ Note that with Nokia N97 touchpad, you can also rewind and forward the measurement by pressing lightly on the touchpad until a frame appears around the screen, then sliding your finger left or right.

5. To jump to a selected event in the measurement file, go to Options | Jump to event.

6. In the Event window you will see a list of markers or notifications depending which check box is selected. Move up with the Navigation button to select your option. When you select a notification or marker in the list, Nemo Handy will jump to that time in the measurement when the notification occurred.

♦ Note that the notifications appearing in playback depend on which notifications you have selected in Options | Tools | Properties | Notifications. Selected notifications are marked with a check mark. You can select and deselect each notification by selecting an item from the list and pressing the navigate button.

7. To jump to a specific time in the measurement, select Options | Jump to time.

8. In the view that appears, you can scroll forward and backward in the measurement in the Playback time timeslider with the Navigation left and right buttons. Selecting the Time from start field you enter a time field in which you can manually set a time to which you want to jump in the measurement.

9. Select Timestamp to jump to a specific timestamp in the measurement. The Playback speed bar defines the speed at which the measurement is played back in terms of percentage. Use the Navigation button left and right to increase or decrease the speed.

10. Select Back to exit the view.

11. You can play the measurement by selecting Options | Play, or by pressing down the C key and then the Navigation button. To pause the measurement, select Options | Pause, and similarly when you want to stop the measurement, select Options | Stop.

Indoor Map in Playback

Before playing back indoor measurements with Nemo Handy, you need to have an indoor measurement (.nbl) file and a marker (.mrk) file associated with the measurement route in the same folder in your Nemo Handy terminal. You also need an indoor map file. See page 34 for more information on indoor maps.

Start Nemo Handy, and select Options | Tools | File Manager.

USER INTERFACE

Nemo Handy offers a set of different views that can be configured with the Nemo Handy Configuration Editor. See the Nemo Utilities user manual for more information on the Nemo Handy Configuration Editor.

GENERAL INFORMATION

You can browse the various views with the arrow buttons. Note also that some views, for example, the Settings view, contain several pages that can be browsed with the left and right arrow buttons. With the navigation button you can switch between different parameters in the view. Note that the scales in the line graphs will change according to the selected parameter. All Nemo Handy displays are described in more detail in the Nemo Handy Display Guide included in the product package.

You can also use the following shortcut keys in graphs:

2 = Select parameter

5 = Set active

8 = Select parameter

0 = Auto scale

Select Options | Settings | General | Backlight to switch the background light on and off.

Handy gives a warning if HSDPA is disabled in the phone settings while you are trying to run a script. To enable or disable the HSDPA, go to Settings | Connection | Packet Data High Speed Packet access.

SERVING INFO

Select Options | Settings | General | Serving Info to display/hide the serving channel information on every page. Alternatively you can toggle the serving channel info on and off with the # button. You can define the contents of the serving info display with the Nemo Handy Configuration Editor tool.

SCREENSHOTS

You can take screenshots (.jpg) of Nemo Handy displays. Press the * button to take a screenshot. With N97, C7, and E7 lightly press the camera button. The image file is saved in the E:\Nemo\Results folder. In the Settings menu, you can define whether the screenshot will be saved of the current view or of all views. Select Options | Settings | Screenshot type. Select Current view or All views. If you select Always ask, Handy will ask you to select between the two options every time you press the * button.

SIGNALING MESSAGES

To select which messages are displayed in the Signaling Messages view, go to Options | Settings | General | Signaling messages. In the list of signaling messages you can select or deselect, unmark or mark the messages you wish to view.

Signaling messages are displayed in a Signaling Messages list view towards the bottom of the 1/10 view in Nemo Handy. You can select and move up and down the list of messages with the 2 and 8 keys. By pressing down the 5 key, the view zooms in on a message and displays the time of the message. Press 5 again to exit the zoom view.

The statistics view (view 9/9 or view 10/10) displays some voice and video call related and application testing related statistics. To reset the statistics view, select Options | Tools | Statistics Reset. To collect statistics from multiple successive measurement sessions, select Options | Settings | General and set Save statistics to Yes.

To save statistics as CSV file, select Options | Tools | Export statistics and enter a new file name. The csv file will be saved to the result folder of the phone.

To define the measurement system used in displaying units on the displays, go to Options | Settings | Units, and select between Imperial and Metric.

To reorient screen from vertical to horizontal or horizontal to vertical, select Options | Tools | Reorient Screen.

You are also able to hide screens. To do this, go to the screen you wish to hide and select Parameter | Hide view and click OK. To control which pages are hidden and which are not, go to Options | Tools | Page Collection. You are able to select and deselect whether a page is shown or hidden by using the mobile’s navigation button. You can also hide/show all pages.

CUSTOM VIEW

With Nemo Handy’s custom view you can tailor a view to your own needs. Go to the custom view with the Navigation right button on your phone’s keypad, and select Display. Here you have the option to choose Parameter or Page. The End editing option will end the editing mode.

Selecting Parameter will enable you to add a parameter in the view. Scroll down the menu to select the parameter you are looking for.

To add a new parameter, select Display | Parameter again, and click OK. Note that with some parameters it is possible to make changes to the parameter configurations. These changes include, for example, Min. and Max. Value, Text style, and a choice to view the parameter in a graph. If you select to view a parameter in a graph, an option appears to select a color from a list to differentiate the parameter values in the graph as good or bad.

All parameter-related configuration options will appear upon selecting a parameter if they are available. You will now see the added parameters in the Custom view.

Note that you can edit, move or remove a parameter by selecting one with the number keys (2 and 8) or with the Navigation button. With Nokia N97 you can also select a parameter by pressing on it on the touchpad with your finger. Then select Display | Parameter | Edit parameter to make changes to the parameter’s name or configuration. Similarly, if you want to delete a parameter, first select a parameter, then Display | Parameter | Remove parameter, or move the parameter by selecting Display | Parameter | Move. After making changes, select Display | Save to save the custom view.

To add another page in the custom view, select Display | Page | Add page. Type a description for the page, select the font size, and page layout. Click OK.

You can continue by adding parameters as instructed above. You can also edit the page by selecting Display | Page | Edit page. In the same location you can also select the following functions: Clear page, Remove page, or Move up and Move down.

♦ Note that you can also add any parameters from Nemo Handy’s various views by selecting a parameter, then Parameter | Add to custom view. Select Yes or No when Nemo Handy asks you if you want to create a new page in the Custom view.

If you are done with the page(s) and parameters, and want to save the custom view, select Display | Save. To finish editing, select Display | End editing. To continue editing, select Display | Edit.

PARAMETER MENU

Through the Parameter menu you can access some tools for viewing line graphs. When you are in a line view where there are several parameters, you can select a parameter by pressing the navigation button or the 2 and 8 buttons. When a parameter is selected, the Parameter menu appears on the screen.

Select Set Active to set the selected parameter active. This means that the scales will display values for that parameter. Select Auto Scale to zoom on the line view. See the following chapter for more detailed information.

Automatic Scaling

In line graphs you can use the auto scale function. Press the navigation button to select a parameter in the line view. When a scalable parameter is selected, press the Parameter button. Select Auto Scale. Alternatively press 0 to switch between the different auto scale modes.

♦ Note that you can define the scaling individually for each parameter in the line graph.

Select Both and Nemo Handy checks the minimum and maximum values for the graph from the visible area and zooms in on the view so that the line is in the middle. The ↕ symbol appears next to the parameter name at the top of the view.

Select High and Nemo Handy changes the scales and zooms in on the view so that the line is at the top of the graph and the minimum value is at the bottom of the scale. The symbol changes to ↑.

Select Low, and Nemo Handy changes the scales and zooms in on the view so that the line is at the bottom of the graph and the maximum value is at the top of the scales. The symbol changes to ↓.

Select None and the scales return to normal.

This section gives some tips and hints for using Nemo Handy.

STARTING MEASUREMENTS

Before you start logging with Nemo Handy, please check that the mobile is in idle mode, i.e., there are no data connections or calls ongoing. If there is a call on when you start logging, it will affect the measurement events logged and you will not have the signaling at the beginning of the log file.

FILE LOCATIONS

The various files associated with Nemo Handy have specific file locations. When adding files to Nemo Handy, you should only use these specified folder locations for the files. However, note that you can select between two or three memory locations for the files depending on your mobile terminal model.

With Nokia 6120/6121/6720/6720US/N85/N85US/N95/N95US you can select between

• C: drive, i.e. mobile memory • E: drive, i.e. memory card. With Nokia N96, N96US, N97 and N97US you can select among

• C: drive, i.e. mobile memory • E: drive, i.e. internal (flash) mass memory • F: drive, i.e. memory card.

USING THE GPS RECEIVER

If you move too far away from the Bluetooth GPS receiver or the receiver battery goes flat, the GPS state in the Nemo Handy GPS view switches to ‘Not connected’. In such a case, you do not need to restart Nemo Handy. Just re-establish the Bluetooth connection by selecting Options | Connect GPS in Nemo Handy.

If you want to change to another Bluetooth GPS receiver, you need to delete the pairing between the existing GPS receiver and Nemo Handy first. Go to the main menu of the Nokia mobile and select Menu | Connectivity | Bluetooth | Paired Devices | Delete. Then connect the new GPS receiver as instructed on page 15.

Q: I forgot my wallet code?

A: You can only reset the complete wallet which means that all codes you have saved are also deleted. Enter *#7370925538# and then enter the security code (12345 by default).

Q: How do I make calls when using Nemo Handy?

A: Hold down the Menu button for a couple of seconds. This will give you a shortcut for telephone. Alternatively press the Menu button twice. This will take you to the main menu.

Q: How to go online from offline mode?

A: Press the power button of your mobile and select, for example, the General profile. Note that you need to have a SIM card in the mobile. Please refer to the mobile manual for instructions on how to insert a SIM card to the mobile.

Q: How do I play back files recorded with Nemo Handy?

A: After a measurement, or later on, go to Nemo Handy Options | Tools | File Manager. Select a log file, Options | Playback.

To play back Handy measurement file with Outdoor or a third-party tool, you have to copy the files to your PC from your Nemo Handy mobile using the USB data cable. After that you need to use the Nemo Handy File Converter to convert files to Nemo File Format. After that files can be analyzed in Nemo Analyze, Actix, etc., or be played back with Nemo Outdoor.

Q: How do I use e-mail? I do not have any e-mail settings preconfigured.

A: E-mail settings are operator and user specific and therefore cannot be preconfigured to the mobile. Please refer to the Nokia manual where the settings are described.

Q: I lost my short selection key configurations?

A: You can configure shortcuts to different keys from Menu | Tools | Settings | Phone | Standby Mode.

Q: When I start to use Nemo Handy with a GPS it asks for a code? What is the code?

A: With Pretec GPS receivers it is 0000 (zeroes). If you are using some other GPS model, please refer to the GPS manual.

Q: When I try to activate the system lock, Nemo Handy says that ‘Phone must be idle when using forcing commands. End all connections and try again.’ I do not have any calls or data connections on?

A: Please check from your mobile settings that you do not have the auto attach setting on. Go to Menu | Tools | Settings | Connection | Packet Data | Packet data connection. Check that the setting is ‘When needed’.

END-USER LICENSE AGREEMENT

IMPORTANT - READ CAREFULLY: This End-User License Agreement ("EULA") is a legal agreement between you (either an individual or a single entity) and Anite Finland Ltd for the Anite Finland Ltd software product(s), in whatever form, identified above ("Software Product" or "Software"). The Software Product includes computer software, the associated media, any printed materials, and any "online" or electronic documentation. By installing, copying or otherwise using the Software Product, you agree to be bound by the terms of this EULA. If you do not agree to the terms of this EULA, Anite Finland Ltd is unwilling to license the Software Product to you. In such event, you may not use or copy the Software Product, and you should promptly return the unused product(s) in their original packaging to the place of purchase within thirty days of the date of original purchase.

SOFTWARE PRODUCT LICENSE

The Software Product is protected by copyright laws and international copyright treaties, as well as other intellectual property laws and treaties. The Software Product is licensed, not sold.

1. GRANT OF LICENSE. This EULA grants you the following rights:

Software. You agree that the Software product is licensed to you to be used with the mobile phone(s) and software protection key designated by Anite Finland Ltd for such use ("Designated Hardware"). You also agree that you shall not have more than one copy of the Software Product in use at a time for any Designated Hardware in which the Software Product is to be used or to be distributed except as expressly provided for in this EULA. You may use one copy of the Software Product in binary code form only on one computer at a time in order to conduct system measurements using the Designated Hardware at various locations to the extent necessary for the permitted operation of the application software but may not duplicate the Software Product.

Storage/Network/Single Use. You may also store or install a copy of the Software Product in binary code form only over an internal network, and distribute the Software Product to your other computers over an internal network. However, you must acquire and dedicate a license for the Software Product for each Designated Hardware on which the Software Product is used or to which it is distributed. A license for the Software Product may not be shared or used concurrently on different computers.

2. DESCRIPTION OF OTHER RIGHTS AND LIMITATIONS.

Limitations on Reverse Engineering, Decompilation and Disassembly. Removal, emulation, or reverse engineering of all or any part of this product or its protection constitutes an unauthorized modification to the product and is specifically prohibited. Nothing in this license statement permits you to derive the source or assembly code of files provided to you in executable or object formats.

Limitations on Modifications, Adaptations and Other Changes. You may not modify, adapt or otherwise make any changes to the Software Product except and only to the extent you are expressly permitted to do so under the applicable mandatory law notwithstanding this limitation or by Anite Finland Ltd's prior written consent.

Separation of Components. The Software Product is licensed as a single product. Its component parts may not be separated for use on more than one Designated Hardware and computer as designated above.

Not for Resale. This Software Product is “Not for Resale" or "NFR" and your license only permits personal use and you may not sell or otherwise transfer the Software Product for value except as specified below.

Software Transfer. You may not otherwise give or permanently transfer any or all of your rights under this EULA without the express prior written consent of Anite Finland Ltd which such consent shall not be unreasonably withheld.

Duration and Termination. This EULA is effective from the day you open the sealed media package or download and continues until termination. You may terminate this EULA at any time. Without prejudice to any other rights, Anite Finland Ltd may terminate this EULA if you fail to comply with the terms and conditions of this EULA. In either event, you must destroy all copies of the Software Product and all associated media, printed materials, updates and component parts and verify to Anite Finland Ltd in writing that such has been done.

3. SUPPORT SERVICES. Anite Finland Ltd may provide you with support services related to the Software Product ("Support Services"). Any supplemental software code provided to you as part of the Support Services shall be considered part of the Software Product and subject to the terms and conditions of this EULA. With respect to technical information you provide to Anite Finland Ltd as part of the Support Services, Anite Finland Ltd may use such information for its business purpose, including for product updates and development.

4. COPYRIGHT AND TRADEMARKS. All title and copyrights in and to the Software Product (including but not limited to any images, photographs, animations, video, audio, music, text and "applets", incorporated into the Software Product), the accompanying printed materials, and any copies of the Software Product, are owned by Anite Finland Ltd or its suppliers. The Software Product is protected by copyright laws and international treaty provisions. You may not copy the printed materials accompanying the Software Product. You may not remove, modify or alter any Anite Finland Ltd copyright or trademark from any part of the Software Product, including but not limited to any such notices contained in the physical and/or electronic media or documentation, in the Anite Finland Ltd Setup Wizard dialogue or 'about' boxes, in any of the runtime resources and/or in any web-presence or web-enabled notices, code or other embodiments originally contained in or dynamically or otherwise created by the Software Product.

5. DUAL-MEDIA SOFTWARE. You may receive the Software Product in more than one medium. Regardless of the type or size of medium you receive, you may use only that one medium that is appropriate for the systems you use to operate the Software Product. You may not use or install the other medium on any system. You may not loan, rent, lease or otherwise transfer the other medium to another user, except as part of the permanent transfer (as provided above) of the Software Product.

6. CONFIDENTIALITY AND NON-DISCLOSURE. You agree to keep in confidence and not to disclose in any manner or form to any third party nor publish any such data or information related to the Software Product. You agree to protect all information and data provided to you by Anite Finland Ltd related to the Software Product with the same degree of care that you use to protect your own like data and information, but with not less than that due care exercised by a reasonably prudent person under the same or similar circumstances.

7. U.S. GOVERNMENTAL RESTRICTED RIGHTS. The Software Product and documentation are provided with Restricted Rights. Use, duplication, or disclosure by the Government is subject to restrictions as set forth in subparagraph (c)(1)(ii) of the Rights in Technical Data and Computer Software clause at DFARS 252.277-7013 or subparagraphs (c)(1) and (2) of the Commercial Computer Software - Restricted Rights at 48 CFR 52-227-19, as applicable.

8. LIMITED WARRANTY. Anite Finland Ltd warrants that (a) the Software Product will perform substantially in accordance with the accompanying written materials for a period of three (3) months from the date of receipt, and (b) any third party hardware accompanying the Software Products will be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service for a period of one (1) year from the date of receipt. To the extent that implied warranties are disclaimable, they are disclaimed in paragraph 10. Some states/jurisdictions do not allow disclaimers of or limitations on duration of an implied warranty, so the above limitation may not apply to you. Any implied warranties on the Software Product and, as applicable, third party hardware that is not disclaimable are limited to three (3) months and one (1) year respectively.

9. CUSTOMER REMEDIES. Anite Finland Ltd and its suppliers' entire liability and your exclusive remedy shall be, at Anite Finland Ltd option, either (a) return of the price paid, or (b) repair or replacement of the software or hardware that does not meet the Limited Warranty contained in this EULA and which is returned to Anite Finland Ltd. The Limited Warranty contained herein is void if failure of the software or third party hardware has resulted from accident, abuse, misapplication or events beyond the control of Anite Finland Ltd including, but not limited to Acts of God, acts of nature or acts of war. Any replacement Software Products or hardware will be warranted for the remainder of the original warranty period or thirty (30) days, whichever is longer. Anite Finland Ltd is not responsible for ensuring adequate backup and storage for your data or records.

10. NO OTHER WARRANTIES. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Anite Finland Ltd disclaims all other warranties, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement of third-party rights, with regard to the Software Product, the accompanying written materials, and any accompanying hardware. This limited warranty gives you specific legal rights. You may have others which vary from state/jurisdiction to state/jurisdiction.

11. NO LIABILITY FOR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall Anite Finland Ltd or its suppliers be liable for any damages whatsoever (including without limitation, special, incidental, consequential, punitive or indirect damages for personal injury, loss of business profits, business interruption, loss of business information, or any other pecuniary loss) arising out of the use of or inability to use this Software Product, even if Anite Finland Ltd has been advised of the possibility of such damages. In any case, Anite Finland Ltd and its suppliers' entire liability under any provision of this EULA shall be limited to the amount actually paid by you for the Software Product and/or third party hardware accompanying the Software Product. The Limitations of Liability contained in this Section apply to claims of every kind, whether based on contract law, tort law or otherwise, even if these limitations have the effect of exculpating a party from responsibility for its negligence, fault or other conduct. Because some states/jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of liability for consequential or incidental damages, the above limitation may not apply to you.
