NEED OF ENERGY STORAGE

The share of renewable energy sources

in the energy generation mix is

steadily growing worldwide.

In Europe this share is expected to

reach 36% by 2020, 45-60% by 2030

and over 80% in 2050.

This energy transition leads to

significant amounts of excess renewable

energy which will challenge the grid

capacity. To cope with these intermittent

energy sources, integration of large

scale energy storage is needed and

hydrogen is foreseen to play a key role.

HYDROGEN SOLUTION

Access to low cost electricity during

periods of surplus energy production

will also benefit industrial hydrogen

consumers, helping them to reduce

their carbon footprint.

This situation will soon contribute to

turn Power-to-Gas and the production

of synthetic fuel into economically

viable business cases, simultaneously

stimulating the transition to

hydrogen mobility.

NEL A•485 - PERFECT MATCH

Regardless the use of hydrogen,

electrolysers will both today and

tomorrow play a paramount role in

the conversion of energy.

In this context, large scale hydrogen

plants are required where NEL A•485

with over 2.2 MW installed power is

a perfect match. This well-proven,

highly efficient, reliable and robust

technology also offers a substantial

economy of scale for multiple MW

hydrogen plants as illustrated in the

above chart.
