Our District has an operational levy on the ballot on March 17. This ballot issue will not raise taxes; it is a continuing levy that would replace a levy that is set to expire at the end of 2020. This levy represents 12% of our budget, and it is crucial in funding daily expenses such as teachers, utilities, and supplies. What a week! Things are changing so quickly it is hard to keep up. We will send things home for students to complete during the next 3 weeks. As the Coronavirus situation continues to evolve, we will continue to share information through Schoology. Neighborhood Bridges, a non-profit charity headquartered in Westerville, Ohio will be launching its Gateway for Kindness to serve the Big Walnut Schools community in Sunbury, Ohio. A 501(c)(3) organization, neighborhood bridges has driven direct support and care to more than 35,175 children and families in just 3 years by inviting school districts, mental health agencies, and clergy to advocate for those in need – then engaging each community to come together to help solve those needs. Discovery Day is fun-filled day at Souders each spring. Students have the opportunity to learn about a variety of topics. In the past they have learned about pythons, karate, bee-keeping, backpacking and much, much more. Do you have a career or hobby that you are passionate about? We are looking for more people who would be available to present our students. Discovery Day is scheduled for May 19, 2020.
