STATE’S SEX OFFENDERS AT HOME ON ALL ISLANDSAbout 31 percent of Hawaii’s nearly 3,000 registered sex offenders have addresses outside Oahu. The state places information about where offenders live or are incarcerated plus other identifying characteristics on an online registry: sexoffenders.ehawaii.gov/sexoffender/search.html. Offenders are required to keep information current and are considered noncompliant and can be prosecuted for a felony if they don’t. The registry is designed to inform

residents about sex offenders in their communities. The online site can be searched multiple ways, including by ZIP code or street name. A current photo, if available, is included for each offender. Some duplication exists on the registry because offenders who hold jobs or volunteer outside the ZIP codes where they live or are incarcerated will be listed in that second ZIP code, too. The graphics below were based on registry data as of Nov. 19.
