College Visits Seniors are allowed two college visitation days that are counted as excused absences. When you are ready to make a college visit, call the college’s admissions office and make an appointment. When you visit your college, have admissions write a statement on their letterhead verifying your visit. Bring that statement to Mrs. Smith in attendance when you return to school. Students interested in attending Midlands Technical College (or other technical schools) should take advantage of an excused college visit day by scheduling an appointment to visit the college campus and take the ACCUPLACER placement exam on the same day.

Financial Aid Information Grants and Scholarships do not have to be repaid.

Loans must be repaid and usually have low interest rates. Most payments do not begin until the student leaves college.

Student Employment is a job that the college assigns to help with the cost of attending school.

Institutional – most colleges and universities have their own scholarship and grant programs.

Federal Pell Grant offers direct aid to students based on financial need.

Federal Perkins Loan offers loans to students with exceptional need. No interest is accumulated during college.

Federal Stafford Loan offers low interest loans available to at least half-time students to help pay expenses related to attending school.

State Financial Aid, SC Tuition Grants provide assistance to eligible SC undergraduate residents who attend SC independent nonprofit (private) colleges. www.sctuitiongrants.com
