I started playing golf in junior high school and became infatuated with the game. I played on my college golf team but after graduation took a hiatus from golf to further my education and raise my family. I was able to play again in the early ‘80’s which was like starting over but I made relatively quick progress back toward a satisfying game. My most unique golfing experience was getting a hole-in-one at Yankee Hill in Lincoln using a new golf ball imprinted with my granddaughter’s name that I specifically chose to hit on that hole! My second most unique experi-ence was having my second shot on the par 5, no. 8 at Johnny Goodman, hit the cup (but not stay in the cup!). After retiring from the University of Nebraska Medi-cal Center Faculty in 2008 I looked for more and different opportunities to be in-volved in golf. One of these was the NGA. This is my fourth year as a volunteer for the NGA and my first year as one of the Site Directors for the NJGT in the Omaha area. I particularly enjoy watching and guiding the junior golfers. Their earnestness
and sometimes naivety is fascinating. My wife and I are members at Sunset Valley Country Club and our travel plans include a variety of golf venues from Pebble Beach to Whistling Straits with an extended period of golf during the win-ter months throughout the Palm Springs area.
‘s Tour Tips
GolfTEC would like to congratulate all golfers on a wonderful season. We have been following the re-sults closely and are amazed at the talent we have here in the Nebraska area! The GolfTEC staff wish you the best of luck this fall and would like to give you this tip for playing in Nebraska’s shoulder month golf conditions: Nebraska springs and falls are famous for high winds and unpredictable weather. If playing into the wind a great tip is to take extra club and slow your swing down. This will allow you to make more solid contact and flight your ball with a lower trajectory which should fare you better this fall.
All Nebraska Junior Golf Tour Members receive a 60-Minute Performance Evaluation for $69 and 20% off all lesson plans and programs. Mention you are a NJGT Member when scheduling your first 60-minute evaluation. Offer good until August 31, 2013. Book a lesson with Mark Stava or any of the experienced in-structors at GolfTEC Omaha today! To learn more about GolfTEC Omaha, meet the in-structors and book a lesson; CLICK HERE.

Watching the PGA Champi-onship this last week you probably noticed all the commercials for Get Golf Ready. Now our junior golf-ers are already wonderful players, but golf is a game to be enjoyed with your families. If we have any parents, grandparents and friends who are interested in learning the game so they can join you on the course; encourage them to give Get Golf Ready a try!
Get Golf Ready is a fun and affordable way to enter the game using group instruc-tion based on best practices from across the country! A Get Golf Ready program is usually comprised of (5) 90-minute group lessons taught by a PGA or LPGA Professional for around $99.
Find a Get Golf Ready pro-gram near you at Get-GolfReady.com or by talk-ing to your PGA or LPGA Professional today!
