Year End Treasurer’s Report All Butler County 4-H Clubs are required to complete a YEAR END Treasurer’s Report. The 2017 End of Year Treasurer’s Report is a one
page form available from the Butler County Ex-tension Office or on-line at http://extension.unl.edu/statewide/butler/4h. Reports are due January 31, 2018. Direct ques-tions to the Extension Office, 402-367-7410 or [email protected].

On-line registration for 2018 is now open for 4-H members and 4-H leaders. All 4-H’ers (8-18, “4-H Age”) will pay a $10 registration fee with a debit or credit card. Clover Kids (5-7, “4-H Age”) will also pay the $10 registration and can redeem the registration fee for 2018 Clover Kid Day Camp or 4-H Fun Day.

Makers Workshop
Thursday, December 14, 2017 after school—5:30 pm
St. Luke’s Church
620 D Street, David City
This workshop is designed for youth 2nd—6th grades. Need not be in 4-H to attend, invite a friend! All supplies will be provided. Snacks are included.
Makers workshops are designed to
engage youth in problem solving as
they participate in creative, fun,
and hands-on activities.

4-H Clover Kid Workshop
Ages 5-7
Friday, December 29, 2017
10:00 am—noon Butler County Extension Office 451 N 5th Street , David City
Clover Kids will be completing activities in Theater Arts and Aerospace project areas. They will make musical instruments for Strike Up the Band and a wind-sock for Aerospace. There will be treats, games and lots of extras. This workshop is presented by Lori Shalon, Hilltoppers 4-H Club Leader.
There is no fee for this workshop. Call or email Butler County Extension to register. Limit of 12 participants.

Be sure to wear jeans and
leather shoes. If you have a
welding helmet, bring it along.
The workshop will focus on
safety and welding basics. Par-
ticipants will build a project which can be entered at the
Butler County Fair. There is no fee for this workshop.

4-H’ers should bring a size H or I hook and a 3.5 oz. skein of worsted weight yarn (Red Heart brand is available at Wal-Mart and would work well). Any color or even ombre (variegated) is suggested, avoid black or very dark colors. 4-H’ers will complete a beginning crochet project using beginning skills. There is no fee for this workshop. 4-H Council Scholarship for Graduating Seniors Butler County 4-H Council offers scholarships to graduating seniors. The scholarship application includes a registration form, a one-page essay and a completed 4-H Career Portfolio. Forms are available at the Extension Office and will be mailed to high school seniors. Complete applications are due April 2, by 5:00 p.m. to the Butler County Extension Office.
Butler County Fair July 17-22, 2018
This year the Special Garden Project is focused on the unique, Delft Blue Nigella. Delft Blue Nigella is named for the famous Dutch Delft blue pottery.
They have unique, 1½ - 2" flowers with blue splashes on flower petals in varying shades of blue and gray, and intricate deep-purple centers. Unusual seed pods are also used in fresh or dried arrangements. On av-erage it will take about 65-70 days from seeding date until the plant flowers and about 80-85 days for seed pods.

Youth will enroll in the Special Garden Project through 4-H Online and con-tact the Butler County Extension Office to order the seed packets by Febru-ary 1 for delivery in March/April.
