Notes for All Categories: Value of all elements is the value of the FIG-Code 2017-2020 *** Please note the body difficulty value restrictions for each level. Gymnasts entered in the wrong category, score will be automatically moved to the appropriate level.

Body Difficulties: Min 1 difficulty from each body group required. Less than 1 difficulties of each Body Group there will be a penalty of 0.3

Risks: We accept the Risk with single rotation for some of the levels; the value of this risk and symbol R 1= 0.1 App.Difficulties: Non-ordinary combination, we would like to see Min 1

* consists of 3 elements: 1 base + 2 criteria OR 2 bases + 1 criteria; Value of AD element =0.3 or 0.4

• National Championships Novice 1 and Novice 2 – May - day 1 (Qualifier to the National Series Super Championships)

COMPETITION RULES

Age Groups

• For all competitions, age is determined on the 1st of January of the year of competition.

• Gymnasts must be turning six in the year of competition.

• If there are insufficient numbers in an age group, Gymnastics Ireland may reduce the age categories

Music

• Music forms for all competitions must be completed and submitted at registration prior to each competition

Individual

• 2 music pieces can be with voice and words for 2 routines per individual

• Music time is 1:15 – 1:30 as per FIG guidelines

Group

• 1 music piece can be with voice and words for 1 routine per Group

• Music time is 2:15 – 2:30 as per FIG guidelines

Apparatus

• The size of the apparatus should be selected according to the age of the gymnast and her category in which she

competes. Juniors and Seniors as per FIG guidelines.

Judges

• Each club must supply a min. of 2 Judges for all sessions of the competition on the days they are entered.

• If a Club does not supply a Judge for all sessions a fine will imposed to each session for each Judge. (Fine as per events policy)

Individual Grading Competition (to qualify to the Nationals - all levels) – March/April

• Gymnasts must compete in the grading competition to qualify to the National Championships

• Clubs may enter as many gymnasts as they wish in each level and age group

• The top 10 gymnasts per age and per level will qualify to the Nationals

• 1st, 2nd & 3rd place grading medals will be awarded in each age group of each level for All Around

• Gymnasts must compete from Novice Level 1 in chronological order and may not skip levels

• It is the coach’s responsibility to ensure that gymnasts are entered in the correct levels

• Gymnasts may not move backwards in a level unless it is requested by a Club in writing to the Performance & Technical Manager for approval in advance

• New gymnasts competing must be entered in the appropriate level according to the gymnast’s ability

National Championships Novice 1 and Novice 2 (Qualifier to the National Series Super

Championships) – May (day 1)

• The top 10 gymnasts per age and per level from grading will qualify to the Nationals

• 1st, 2nd & 3rd place National medals will be awarded in each age group of each Level for All Around

• The top 8 gymnasts qualify per level and age to the National Series Super Championships in each Apparatus Finals

• The top 3 gymnasts in Novice 1, 2 and Intermediate must move up to the next level the following year

• Gymnasts must compete from Novice level 1 in chronological order and may not skip levels

• It is the responsibility of coaches to ensure that gymnasts are entered in the correct levels

• Gymnasts may not move backwards in a level unless it is formally requested by a Club in writing to the Performance & Technical Manager for approval in advance

• New gymnasts competing must be entered in the appropriate level according to the gymnast’s ability

National Series Super Championships – June

• The top 8 gymnasts in each apparatus finals per age and per level from the Nationals will qualify to the National Series Super Championships

• 1st, 2nd & 3rd place National Series medals will be awarded in each age group of each Level for the Apparatus Finals

• The top 3 groups from 2017 National Group Championships will qualify to the National Series Super Championships in 2018

National Group Championships – November/December

• 1st, 2nd & 3rd place National medals will be awarded in each age group of each Level for All Around

• Maximum of 5 gymnasts in one Group routine

• One gymnast may be allowed to compete in a different category to make up a Group

• The top 3 groups from the 2017 National Group Championships will qualify to the National Series Super Championships in 2018
