To Parents of all 8th Grade Students and 7th Grade Algebra Students

**PLEASE READ** Dear Indianola Middle School 8th Grade Parents/Students and 7th Grade Algebra Parents/Students,

Indianola Middle School is excited to move our teaching and learning forward with a Digital Learning

Environment (DLE). This year your student will receive a brand new 11” HP Chromebook to be used for

curriculum, assessment and instruction while at school and at home. We will be rolling out the new

Chromebooks on December 4th. There are no fees associated with students receiving their Chromebook.

We ask that you read the information in this letter carefully and review the Indianola DLE Student Handbook &

Indianola Device Acceptance Agreement by November 27. The handbook and agreement can be found on our

district website, www.indianola.k12.ia.us, under Departments -> Information Technology -> Digital Learning

Environment. The Indianola Device Acceptance Agreement form must be initialed and signed by a

parent/guardian and the student before the device can be issued for take-home use. For this year only, we will

be sending a paper copy of the DLE Device Acceptance Agreement home with each student. Next year, the

agreement will be available online for electronic signature as part of online registration.

Please view an online DLE orientation presentation by November 27 and have your student return the signed

DLE Agreement as soon as possible. 8th graders should return the agreement to their Language Arts

teacher. 7th grade Algebra students should return the agreement to Mrs. Asell. The DLE orientation video may

be viewed here - https://tinyurl.com/MS-DLE-OR; the orientation slides may be viewed here -

https://tinyurl.com/MS-DLE-Preso.

Another option is to RSVP to attend an on-site orientation the evening of November 29th at 7:00 PM in the

Middle School Library. To RSVP, please navigate to - https://tinyurl.com/MS-DLE-RSVP. Please note, it is not

necessary to attend an on-site orientation; it is entirely optional, but please do RSVP if you plan on attending.

This is an exciting time for Indianola Middle School as we prepare our students to be competitive in a global

market by utilizing a Digital Learning Environment. The immediate access to computers will have a positive

impact on student engagement and educational outcomes. We will bring the 21st Century Technology Literacy

Skills to the forefront as well as engage students in critical thinking, collaboration, and communication.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at the numbers/emails below.

Sincerely,

Annette Jauron Ray Coffey

Middle School Principal Director of Technology
