Since coal is essential for production of power in the
country and Coal Mining comes under “Essential
Service” in Emergency Services Maintenance Act
(ESMA, 1981) & services engaged in coal industry
fall under “Public Utility Service” thus NCL has to
keep its operations functional in order to ensure
uninterrupted coal production for the country.
In view of the outbreak of COVID-19 in India, NCL
has taken up several steps in order to prevent
spread of the disease in the Company as well as its
nearby areas.
NCL sets up 200-bed isolation facility
for admitting suspected cases of
COVID-19. The arrangement has
been made at various places of NCL.
Advertisement for hiring of medical professionals (23 Specialists & 7 GDMOs)
and paramedical staff ( 50) for fixed term appointment is in process.
One trained Nodal Medical Officer has been appointed along with his team to
look after the cases relating to the disease. This team is also in regular touch
with the District Administration of Singrauli.
All the doctors as well as paramedical staffs of NCL have been trained in order to
be able to treat COVID-19 patients. And, are provided with sufficient Personal
Protective Equipment for their safety.

All patients visiting hospital are being scanned through Infrared
Thermometer.
Dr. Pankaj Kumar, CMO of NSC, a hospital of Northern Coalfields Limited,
Singrauli made a ventilator which can ventilate 5 patients at a time. This will
be set in pressure control mode as per individual patient's requirement. It can
be used as an emergency arrangement to meet the patient requirements to
combat COVID19 pandemic.
Any cases with symptom of fever
and general cold are being dealt
immediately on priority basis in
separate wing and are being
referred to district hospital, as per
the instruction by District
Administration, Singrauli.
In order to tackle this emergency
situation and also to reduce crowd
in hospital, OPD services have
been limited.
NCL has setup 5 quarantine centers as
precautionary measure in order to
contain spread of Corona Virus.
NCL has campaigned vastly forcreating awareness about thecauses and precautions of COVID-19 through displaying severalposters and banners at workplaceand colony premises.
Also, at regular interval, NCLkeeps posting on its social mediahandles like WhatsApp, Facebook,Twitter, etc., to make people awareand cautious about spread ofdisease.
Awareness talks have been conductedwith employees adhering to safetynorms in order to inform them aboutprecautions to be taken.
Round the clock
sanitization,
disinfection and
fumigation is being
done in all shifts at
various places like
offices, canteens,
rest shelters,
washrooms,
machineries, shift
buses, dumpers, etc.
Necessary precautions are being
taken in canteens for providing
clean and disinfected services to
the workers.
Sanitizers/Hand Wash facilities are provided at the entry/exit gates of office
premises in order to avoid the transmission of virus.
Availability of sufficient hand wash has been ensured at suitable places like
washrooms, canteens and every wash basins for frequent hand wash while
working.
Thermal Scanning is being
done at workplaces to
ensure fitness of the
employees working.
NCL has also
sanitized
various
locations of
nearby areas
like market
places,
colonies,
buildings,
etc.
Sanitization of all residential areas are being done by NCL in
order to safeguard people.
NCL has taken up various measures in order to maintain social distancing
norms at workplace as well as public places.
Public gatherings and celebrations
have been discontinued. Various
sports and other events have been
cancelled/postponed.

Biometric/Physical attendance of
employees have been discontinued
and their presence on duty is being
certified by their GMs/HODs.
NCL has constituted a high-level “Quick Response Team” for reviewing the
situation and mobilizing the actions to be taken in any circumstances.
The team is also monitoring the arrival of employees and their family members
from abroad and other affected states/areas and ensuring such people are
quarantined for 14 days after their visit.

been set-up for taking
regular updates relating
to COVID-19. Team of
employees have been
deployed at HQ as well
as in all Areas/Units of
NCL, who are working
round the clock (24*7)
in all shifts for
maintaining records
relating to attendance of
employees as well as
data of suspected cases
and quarantined
people.
An “Apex Team” is constituted consisting of higher authorities for monitoring
of all the activities undertaken for prevention from proliferation of COVID-19.

NCL has distributed
various protective
equipments like
Masks, Sanitizers,
Hand Wash, Hand
Gloves, etc. to
employees,
contractual workers
and also to people
of nearby localities.
During this difficult time, NCL extended help to people of nearby villages and
has so far allocated expenditure of Rs. 4,08,33026 under its CSR initiatives
for prevention from COVID-19.
The villagers have been
provided nearly 27,617
numbers of food packets with
daily ration items like rice,
flour and lentils, salt,
potatoes, oil, spices, etc.
In one of its special initiative during this
testing time, Krishnashila Area of NCL took
responsibility of feeding 50 poor people for
the complete month.
NCL has also encouraged and helped those women who are getting training under the programme “Kaushal Vikas Unnayan Yojana”. Company bought
several masks made by these women in order to distribute the same to people of nearby areas.
Around 15,000 employees of NCL contributed one-
day salary amounting to Rs. 3.42 crores to PM
CARES fund.
NCL has donated Rs. 20 Crores under its CSR initiative to Madhya Pradesh
Chief Minister Relief Fund to fight against COVID-19.
One of the NCL employees, Sri Dayaram Singh
(Dumper Operator) donated Rs. 51,000 to PM
Cares Fund after getting inspired form CMD’s (NCL)
appeal.
NCL has also donated 600 packets of food
items like rice, lentils, flour, salt, oil, potato,
etc. to Sonebhadra administration for their
Public Police Annapurna Bank.
NCL has taken up

2500 families, earmarked by
District administration of
Sonebhadra.

.Mahila mandals of NCL actively participated in helping the needy
ones of the nearby areas by distributing food packets, masks,
sanitizers, etc., in order to safeguard and prevent them from the
challenges arising from spread of the Covid-19 and loss of work.
