R Project Description The project includes: The existing 44 kV transmission line would remain in place and operational until the new Eaton-area substation to Cloverly Substation segment is constructed and energized; at which time the 44 kV line would be removed. Station 3 : Project Description • Board 9 A 230 kilovolt (kV) double-circuit transmission line from the Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) Ault Substation to the new Xcel Energy Husky Substation. One circuit would be installed initially and operated at 230 kV. The new Husky Substation would replace the Xcel Energy Ault 44 kV Substation, which would be decommissioned. (In November 2018, a site plan for the new Husky Substation in the Town of Ault was submitted and was approved in February 2019.) A 230 kV transmission line would be constructed to support two circuits (double-circuit) from the new Husky Substation to a new Eaton-area substation. A 115 kV circuit would be installed initially and a 230 kV circuit would be installed in the future when additional electric service is needed. The new Eaton-area substation would replace the existing Xcel Energy Eaton 44 kV Substation, which would be decommissioned. The new Eaton-area substation would accommodate upgrades to the local electrical distribution system.
