About NBN
• The National Broadband Network is committed to providing access to fast, reliable and affordable broadband services throughout Australia.
• Aims to improve the existing infrastructure from HFC to FTTP and FTTN all over Australia.
• Aims to provide Fixed line, Fixed wireless, Satellite based internet services.
Key aspects
• The NBN aims to improve the existing infrastructure from Hybrid Fibre Cable (HFC) to Fibre To The Premise(FTTP) and Fibre To The Node(FTTN) configurations.
• Improving infrastructure will increase the broadband speeds and provide uninterrupted connectivity.

Coverage Status
• Federal Investment of about $40 billion.
• About 1,969,933 premises ready to be served.
• Aims to deliver a network speed of 50mbps up to 1Gbps in the metros by 2020 .

Future course
• Currently using a mix of FTTP,FTTN, satellite technology.
• Aim to provide 2.4 million premises by 2020
• Will dismantle Telstra’s HFC( currently used by NBN) network for FTTN.
