1. Light Emitting Tiles

Innovator: Madhav V Sawant Overview The regular front loading washing machines carry a concrete block of approximate 30 kg for an 80 kg machine weight to stabilize the machine. This results in an unnecessary dead weight, higher powered motor requirement and power loss in vibration. The innovator has developed an anti-vibration mechanism for front load washing machines which eliminates this concrete block and compensates for the vibration. These tiles are meant for energy conservation. They absorb the light incident on it & illuminate in the dark. These tiles get charged within three hours with existing lighting sources & illuminate as much as eight hours. The illumination is as much as small night lamp. They can be used in places like lobby of building, offices, commercial places, institutes, etc. It may be noted that at any construction place like residential or commercial, the lights are continuously on throughout the night. The electrical energy at this place can be saved considerably.

Features • The property of emitting light is life long • Brightness of the emission does not deteriorate over the period. • It is free from any harmful toxicity. • These tiles can be installed in new or old construction place. • The installation does not need special skills. • Each tile of size 115mm X 115mm offers 48 mcd which diminishes over period of eight hours

Image of tiles in Light Image of tiles in Dark

Cost With current production process the cost of tiles per sq. ft. comes to be Rs. 260.00 per sq. ft. Current Status o Innovator has already developed & demonstrated the tiles o The innovator has applied the patent

Other Details The innovator wants to license this mechanism to a multinational vendor for international markets.

2. Supercapacitor Innovator: P B Karandikar, Pune Overview To reduce the battery sizing (Ah) and cost in all types of key start vehicles and electronic appliances havening DC motor by using supercapacitor in parallel with conventional d battery. Starting of any motor requires large current at very short time duration. Such current is presently delivered by battery and hence its size required is more. It can be delivered by the supercapacitor. Thus use of supercapacitor in parallel with battery will make it a hybrid power source. Innovator has developed supercapacitor which can be used directly in parallel with conventional batteries in applications like camera, PMDC motor starting in toys and small electronic appliances. The developed module can be used in series parallel with power electronic interface in all kinds of key start vehicles.

3. Digital Controlled Precise Dispensing Valve for Liquids under Gravity Flow

Innovator: Satish V. Pathak

Overview This is a precise dispensing valve to be used for gravity flow of liquid media. The valve is actuated by pneumatic power and regulated through a digital controller. Here, the term Precise Dispensing does not mean Small Quantity as interpreted many a time but used to mean delivering results more precisely, more accurate – beyond international standards. The main purpose of project is to set an edge above the current practices and standards in the design, concept of valves, its associated control action and the results we get as a final outcome of all.

Features Eliminate need of Dual Flow-rate / Two-Stage Flow concept i.e. Coarse & Fine flow using two

valves.

Eliminate dependency in Selection of pair of valves that are manufactured, tuned as per various factors like Media (fluid), Viscosity, Header Pressure and Limited Range of Target Quantity etc

Eliminate the current practice of defining accuracy achieved in terms of Percentage of Target Quantity.

Provide substitute to above as – Dispensing of any Liquid Media from same single valve by using new concept of Single Largest possible Flow-rate and varied range of dispensing packets that have very fine variation of quantity and this can be as small as a Drop weighing fraction of a gram. This makes the valve highly versatile that eliminated dependency on media, viscosity, and header pressure that further extends the range of target quantity to a great extent say replacing such 3 to 4 pairs of valves used for limited quantity targets. Further any flexible target can be achieved to absolute accuracy chasing till last drop, giving faster delivery and tight shut-off too. The valve is made out of machined SS316 parts and Teflon that makes it applicable for almost every liquid media say Milk to Acid. One can simply wash, thoroughly clean or sterilize the valve and use it for any other desired liquid media and may be for a different target quantity ranges that of used prior.

Cost

This would not be limited to simple calculations of cost of manufacturing + expected profits but will have scope to demand premium and a strategic decision. Expected price would be Rs. 70K for a single valve + its digital controller.

Current Status

Innovator is about to complete the task of building showcase of 8-10 valves having different characteristics. Interested in setting up own manufacturing company and spread across international market.
