EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Navjeevan press was started in Bombay. They havestarted small press with second hand machinery purchased Rs.

7,000. Finally Navjeevan Printing Press was started on 7th

September 1919 Sunday in Bombay.

The Navjeevan Presss main mission is that they want to

change the way of thinking and the new generation. They havechoose that location because Gandhiji came at Ahmedabad and

settled in Gujarat.

Production Process is in three parts.

(1) Pre Printing

(2) Printing stage

(3) Post Printing

1.3MISSION OF THE ORGANI SATION

(A) To propagate Gandhijis thoughts to the Literature.

(B) They wanted people read the book of Gandhiji and

Adopt their thoughts in their life.

1.4 H ISTORY OF THE ORGANISATI ON

In 1917, after returning from South Africa, Gandhiji

wanted to have two things.

(A) Community Life.

(B) Publish English and Gujarati weekly magazines.

Shankarlal Banker and Soheb Qureshi were started weeklymagazines by Gandhiji from Mumbai namely Navjeevan and

Satya. The word Satya was removed by Gandhiji and he said

that Navjeevan itself called a Satya.

Gandhiji thought that we should have our own press and

then Gandhiji purchase Manhar Printing Press at Manekchowk

for Rs.10000. Bapu started printing himself on one printing

machine given by Indulal Yagnik. They started two weeklymagazines Navjeevan and Young India.

In the 10 years of time savings of press was Rs. 1,00,000/-

Bapu converted 1,00,000/- into a trust and Navjeevan came into

existence.

From 1930 onward along with Journal books publishingwere also started. During freedom movement British

Government 3 confiscated this place to 4 times. Navjeevan and

Young India were wound up and restarted as Harijan in 4

languages namely,

(1) Harijan Sevak in Urdu

(2) Harijan Bandhu in English

(3) Harijan Bandhu in Gujarati(4) Harijan Bandhu in Hindi

In 1950 these premises were out side of Ahmedabad.

Selling rights are given to foreign publisher. Gandhiji said that

not except any donation and grants from Governments.

ORGANISATION

The achievements of the organization are as below.

(1) Gandhijis Autobiography has been released in 13

languages and now printed in 14 languages.

(2) Letters are received from students, especially from

Young Readers.

This trust was producing newspaper named Navjeevan but

now it is not producing newspaper. It has stopped producing

newspapers since long time.

Now days it is printing different books related to the whole

life of Gandhiji and articles novels and journals etc.

Navjeevan trust publish works of other authors who writeon subjects related to the Gandhiji thought and other on subjects

like health, which are useful for society.

These steps are in production process at NavjeevanPrinting Press.

(1) Computer Department

This computer department is called as Desktop Publishing

(DTP) Department and also called a Type Setting Department.

In this department, there are some Programme like oral

draw, Photoshop and Page Maker 5.0. The instruments like

Lesser Printer, Scanner and DOT MATRIX printer are in it.

The softer that is run in it is called as SHREE LIPI.

First for rough page connection, Print is done then it is

taken on for lesser print and then there is a Print on butter paper.

After that Mirror Print is done on Butter paper.

Scanner Machine

Photo scanners Document scanner

Scanner Machine is used for taking photos of print for this

photoshop 5.0 programme is used in computer HP SCANJET 5P

is used in this system. Then scanners have many sizes but A4 is

use more. With the help of this we can do colour collection,

change a size of photos and also done photograph touching.

Master paper print is made in Computer Department.

Vertical Camera

When computer was not there the machine which is called

Kaam Vertical Camera was used. Vertical Camera was used

for taking out negative and positive of photographs. With thehelp of this machine 5 time enlargement and 5 times deduction

can be done. This process is known ASTROLESSY

PROCESS.

(2) Pasting:-

After making butter copy pasting is done 8 page are pastedon 1 sheet. The sheet, which is used, is known as the

ASTROLEN SHEET.

(3) Plate Making Department:-

Whir ler Machine

In this department redial page is making on Aluminum

plate. Plate making is done where pasting is done. Aluminum

coating is done through light sensitive coating. This plate is

exposed to plate exposing machine. After that chemical process

on plate is done two chemical which names were Prit encil and

Stencil are used. Prit encil chemical is used for plate wash. RedDai is applied to on this plate.

After Appling it image is seen on the Aluminum plate

and then readable page is ready.

(4) Printing:-

HMT Offset Machine:

The plate which has been made ready is put on this

machine. The image is ready and seen reverse on blanket

cylinder. Ink comes from upper side. Image was first comes on

the plate then on the sheet. In this one sheet 16 pages are

included. The capacity of this machine is 5,000 sheets per hour.

In this speed is maintained through regulator. Navjeevan Press

has 4 offset machines.

Baby Off set Machine:

In this machine master copy is used some times instead of

butter copies. When there is less no. of copies to be printed in itis used special liquid (GP) is used to clean the machine. In

cleaning master copy soap is used.

Capacity of this machine is 3,000 papers per hour.

Navjeevan Press has only one baby-offset machine.

done this machine is used to give proper shape to the books.

Once at a time 100 books can be cut. This machine is made in

German. Capacity of this machine is 3,000 books per hour. Ifthree persons are there Navjeevan Press has two cutting

If the book is Rs.10/- then the price of the book is Rs.7/- to

the customer to there are 3/- is given to subsidiary to the

customer.

There is also given extra commission of 50% when the

distributors, are sales books for Rs.2 lacs or more.

This type of commission they give the bookseller and
