Intellectual Foundations Program Requirements
All freshmen students and any transfer students with less than 30 credits must fulfill the University's IFP requirements as part of their pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree. While IFP courses do not necessarily relate to your major, they do provide a
foundation of knowledge that all well-educated students should possess.IFP courses are diverse, covering a wide variety of subjects within 6 categories:
Written Communication, Society & Human Behavior, Science, Math, Global Citizenship, and Humanities.
Major CoursesWritten Communication
Society & Human Behavior
Science & the Natural World
Math and Quantitative Reasoning
Global Citizenship Humanities Ratio of IFP CoursesCompared to Major Courses
ACADEMICS
IFP Course Breakdown The 36-40 credits of required IFP courses are broken down into 6
categories, as shown in the previous slide and pie chart. You are required to take a minimum of 2 classes in each IFP category.
