FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK…
Congratulations to Rev. Gerard Skrzynski, along with Rev. Peter N. Bassey, Rev. Paul S. Cy-gan, and Rev. Peter J. Santandreu who all were ordained to the Holy Priesthood for the Dio-cese of Buffalo on Saturday, June 2 at St. Joseph Cathedral by Bishop Richard J. Malone. Rev. Skrzynski served as a Transitional Deacon here at Nativity while completing his last year of studies at Christ the King Seminary. He will be celebrating a Mass of Thanksgiving at our parish this Sunday, June 10 at 1:15 p.m. A parish reception will follow in the Narthex of the Church; all are invited to celebrate with Fr. Jerry and to wish him well as he begins his priestly ministry at St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Niagara Falls.
I am very pleased to announce that Rev. Peter Bassey has been assigned to our parish as a Parochial Vicar! He will begin his ministry here later in the month. Father Bassey was born in Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria and began his studies for Priesthood in his home country. At the age of twenty, he came to the United States and continued his studies at Provi-dence College, where he earned a Master’s Degree in Theological Studies. At the prompting of a friend, he came to Christ the King Seminary in East Aurora where he completed his edu-cation and formation for Priesthood in the Diocese of Buffalo. Prior to his Ordination, he had been serving as a Transitional Deacon at Annunciation Church in Elma. Please extend a very warm welcome to Fr. Bassey as he begins his ministry at Nativity. (More information will be forthcoming about a parish reception for our new Parochial Vicar.)
With praise and thanksgiving to Almighty God for the four new priests who were ordained to serve the Church in the Diocese of Buffalo on June 2, we offer our prayers and support in their ministries. Indeed, may God grant them many glorious years in service to His people!
Fr. Jim

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION
The other day I saw on the news a story about a Grammy Award nominated saxophone player that was in the area visit-ing a local high school to talk to kids about a career in music. What a thrill that must have been for the students, to sit in the presence of a musical legend like that. I see ads quite often for the UB “Distinguished Speaker” series where you can purchase tickets to be in the small audience of a famous au-thor, television personality or politician. If you have never attended one of these, imagine the thrill and inspiration an experience like that can be. Once when I was young I was able to attend in person the live broadcast of the Miss USA pageant. The memories of that night with all the stars, glam-our and excitement live with me still nearly 40 years later. All of these could be viewed as a once in a lifetime event, something to cherish forever.
Wonder if I told you that you have the opportunity every day to sit with someone that throughout His life performed mira-cles. This person did such things as healing the sick, feeding thousands with just a few loaves of bread and some fish, even raising someone from the dead. Imagine the awe of sitting with someone who created seas, mountains, trees and all the other wonders around us. You would have the opportunity to ask questions, receive guidance, have a conversation and actu-ally get to know this person one on one, as a friend. Well, it all exists for you right here at Nativity in our Adoration Chap-el. There, you can sit in the presence of Jesus in the form of the Eucharist and experience joys and memories that will sus-tain you throughout your entire life.
Jesus is waiting for you. Please take an hour of your time to sit with Him . View the schedule board and consider filling in some of our open hours. Contact Pat Longboat, email [email protected] or phone 998-0593 to get more infor-mation or to sign up for a regular hour. Thank you. Dan Bar-one

TRIVIA ANSWER:
The Chasuble is the outer garment worn by a priest when presid-ing as the principal celebrant at Mass. Chasuble comes from the Greek word meaning "little house". It is symbolic of the days when the apostles would travel from city to city with an outer garment similar in nature to the chasuble which would double as a blanket/tent to protect them from the elements
