QI am having a vintage theme wedding and

in need of jewellery to match, what would you recommend? Question answered by Bryony Meredith at Fellows Auctioneers.

AThe beauty of vintage style is that so many options are

available, tailoring your jewellery to find something to suit your personality and dress can be lots of fun. Fellows hold eight Vintage Jewellery sales a year, each containing over 1000 lots and separated into sections so finding what suits your style in time for your big day is easy. Handle as much as possible in our public viewingss, from Vintage Christian Dior statement pieces, to more delicate Victorian sentimental jewellery to get a feel for the different vintage styles and discover what is right for you.

Go bold with a splash of vibrant red in a vintage coral necklace, or sparkle with some antique paste or marcasite jewels. If you want to be a bit more unique then get creative with less popular brooches, arranged creatively in your hair, pinned to the bottom of your back or your shoes, or as an alternative bouquet.

QCan you give me some advice and tips for

having children at your wedding?Question answered by Kristen Harding at Tinies Creches.

AMore and more couples are getting married later, which

means there is a high likelihood that not only the couple themselves will have children, but their guests too. A wedding crèche service is perfect for a bride and groom who have lots of young children attending on their wedding day.

Their parents can then relax and enjoy the day in the knowledge they are being taken care of. The market leader is Tinies, the UK's leading childcare agency who offer a Tinies Mobile Crèche nationallywww.tiniescreches.com, providing childcare professionals for any sort of event.

So many brides worry about babies and children attending weddings and it can be a really hard decision for many brides to make whether or not to invite children. On the one hand they want to be able to have the happy presence of children and on the other hand they want their guests to be able to relax and enjoy themselves without having to run around after their little ones!

Q Iwant the Grooms-men to match but they

are all different shapes and sizes. Tallest being 6ft 4” and shortest being 5ft 5”! Can you help please?Question answered by Stephen at Stephen Bishop Suiting.

Any reputable hire shop should stock all sizes

otherwise matching a group of groomsmen is impossible. Not just in colour, but style, fit and the overall look. You can’t have one of the guys looking fab’ and another looking awful. Choose a company that can back up their claim to be able to cater for such diversity by being able to physically try the goods on. How else are you going to be able to choose a grooms outfit let alone his groomsmen? Tailcoats are the most forgiving style for all shapes and sizes. Tails suit the taller man for obvious reasons but are surprisingly fantastic on the shorter gentleman. I (we) always advise to not rule anything in, or out until it is tried on. It really is amazing what clients end up in. Remember, choose a company where you can try every style on and see for yourself, which looks the best..

AskTHE EXPERTS

If you have a question for any of our experts please drop us an email at [email protected]

After talking to lots of brides at the Wedding Shows we attend we have selected a few of their questions...

1 Think about what YOU want to do“Brides-to-be often worry about making sure everyone else will have a good time. Don’t lose sight of what you really want to do. If you’re happy, chances are your closest friends and family will be too.”

2 Avoid “too many cooks in the kitchen”“Delegate the hen do planning to no more than three people. Choose your head bridesmaid and one or two others to handle everything, with or without you. This ensures decisions can be made quickly.”

3 Add excitement to an otherwise ‘simple’ do“When planning a simple hen do, such as a meal out, it’s good to keep things interesting. Run some game ideas past the venue and add a colour theme and/or goodies to the table to get people in the mood. For added excitement and variety try a cocktail-making class beforehand, or an indulgent spa day the morning after.”

4 Tailor activities to the guest list“Make sure this fits with the invite list. The hen might love inflatable props and a stripper, but will her future mother- or grandmother-in-law be as keen?”

5 Who said there can only be one do?If you’re looking for a wild night with the girls but something quieter with mums and nans, you could arrange a weekend with lots of activities so guests can dip in and out. Or, plan a couple of separate parties to celebrate with the different people in your life.”

6 Allow for time in between activities“The feeling of having to rush activities can take away from the enjoyment. Don’t over fill the weekend and leave time between activities. If there is time to be killed, make sure a bar or pub is never too far away.”

7 Ensure party members are comfortable with the budget“Glamorous hen dos, including those abroad, are great fun, but they can also be expensive. To make sure no one feels priced out, consider having a separate do closer to home.”

8 Avoid social media disasters“Ensure all party members are clear about what is and isn’t allowed to be shared on social media during the do. Some hens want a live stream of tagged photos while other prefer things stay under wraps.”

9 Stay central to avoid stray hens“If the hen do involves an overnight stay, choose accommodation that is in the city centre, near activities or easy to get to. Trying to herd a group of tipsy hens in and out of taxis can often be a challenge!”

10 Keep communication within the group simple“Too much detail and ambiguity within a large group allows for too much opinion. Give the group basic information on a ‘need to know’ basis and leave the rest as a surprise. Surprises are more fun anyway!”

10 TOP TIPS To avoid hen do planning stress...

1 Wedding dresses are sized up to 3 sizes larger than high street, ignore the numbers and embrace the fi t.

2 Buy a dress that fi ts today, not one you hope i get into through weight loss, most dresses can be taken in 2 sizes comfortably should you be successful.

3 Shop in a plus sized boutique for maximum choice and experience.

4 Love straps, they balance your shape and avoid any over spill, this is sound advice for most brides, not just plus sized brides.

5 Stay away from too much satin, light fabrics such as organza are far more forgiving.

Wedding HairTIMETABLE

It may seem ages until your wedding, but it’s really important to have your style consultations early just in case you’re planning any drastic changes. If you want to chop off your long hair, try out a new colour or have a go with hair extensions, now’s the time to do it.

If you change your mind, then you have time to put it right, and if you love your new do, perfect, you’ve found a new look for your wedding. It’s also a good time to get appointments booked for you, your bridesmaids and mum too. Wedding hair takes time and chances are if you leave it until the last minute, you’ll be fi ghting with other brides for those Saturday morning, pre wedding appointments.

Two months before the big day, start browsing magazines and websites to see which styles

will work best with your dress, veil and any hair accessories. Cut them out, print them off and keep

them altogether to show your stylist when you have your wedding hair trial.

Well-nourished, healthy locks don’t just happen, so treat your hair to it’s own pamper session. A hair mask will moisturise, repair and add shine. It’ll revitalize dull and lifeless hair leaving it feeling gorgeous.

A trial with your hairdresser is a must. This means you both know what to expect on the day, how much time to allow and gives you a chance to

experiment with a few styles, especially if you’re going for an up-do.

Make sure that fi nal cut and colour happens a couple of weeks before the wedding. Two weeks gives plenty of time for your hair to adjust to the colour and cut and keep any grey strands and split ends at bay.

The fi nal countdown in on! Confi rm all your appointments with your hairdresser just to make sure it runs like clockwork on the day. Treat your hair to another hair mask too. Do it too close to

the wedding and your hair may be too soft for your hairdresser to work with.

The day has fi nally arrived. First thing to do is think about what you wear for your hairdressers appointment. Don’t wear anything you have to take off over your head – if you have an elaborate style, you don’t want to mess it up. And remember, you’ll leave your hairdressers with your veil and hair accessories in.

You wouldn’t go on holiday without travel insurance and yet there are people who are willing to spend thousands upon thousands of pounds on their weddings without paying a small fee to prevent their big day from becoming the worst day of their life. If you have seen the movie “Meet The Parents” from the “Fockers” trilogy, then you will know how disastrous things can get.

What is Wedding Insurance?Wedding Insurance serves to administer financial protection in case things go wrong before or during your wedding day. For example, if you need to cancel your wedding as a result of an unexpected illness or due unforeseen and extreme weather conditions, then the wedding insurance will help cover the expenses to re-arrange the wedding.

How much cover do I need? The level of cover of your wedding insurance is based on the total cost of the wedding. The amount that you insure will be saved to re-arrange another wedding. You must be careful however, if you underinsure your wedding then the maximum you will receive from the insurance will be the amount of cover you have purchased.

Why I should buy wedding insurance?Wedding insurance can protect you against many unfortunate events that can occur and prevent you from being in financial trouble due to a cancelled wedding. Underinsuring your special day would mean settling for a cheaper wedding but paying the price of your original wedding. Here at Black Cat Publishing, we recommend you take the necessary precautions in insuring your wedding as it is arguably the most important and memorable day of your life. Imagine you’re the soon-to-be wife walking down the aisle until sudden freak weather conditions prohibit the ceremony proceeding. Or imagine you’re the husband and you have unexpectedly fallen ill the day before your wedding. By insuring your wedding, you can get married and not have to worry about anything ruining your chance of happiness. By Cameron Stewart

ON seven Sundays this summer, couples can marry for less at a top North East wedding venue. Starting on June 21- the longest day of the year - and on a further six dates, Matfen Hall Hotel, Northumberland, is offering a special, summer solstice wedding package. The package, which costs just £55 per guest, gives the wedding party exclusive use of the four star hotel’s East Wing for their big day, along with a range of treats for the happy couple and their guests.“Nowhere is as lovely as Matfen Hall on a summer afternoon,” said General Manager Bernard Bloodworth, “and by serving a hog roast instead of a traditional wedding breakfast, wedding parties can enjoy the grounds and, hopefully, the sunshine.” For more information contact Matfen Hall’s Wedding Manager Victoria Paterson on 01661 855 709 or visit www.matfenhall.com

How exciting, making all of your wedding arrangements, the fl owers, fi nding the venues, the list of guest, the wedding cake, the wedding dress and of course you’re delicious wedding shoes.

Every bride wants to be able to wear her high heel wedding shoes for the duration of her very special day. However I can almost hear the moans and sighs of ‘I love these heels, but there’s no way I can wear them, and especially not all day’ coming from the lips of the bride to be. Is this you? Wouldn’t you rather know that you can glide down the aisle effortlessly in high heels, know how to negotiate

those uneven surfaces around the church, swan up and down stairs, and enter in and out of your car with elegance and ease, and dance the night away? Remember ladies, it’s always a picture moment, and you really don’t want to be caught off guard being photographed with an expression of agony on your face, from suffering in high heels! That defi antly isn’t glamourous!! All newlyweds treasure their wedding photographs…but thanks to a novel suggestion from their photographer one York couple will also have a spectacular pictorial celebration of their engagement!

Tom Douch and Jemma Holmes, of Oaklands, Strensall, met when both were stationed at RAF Benson in Oxfordshire, and Tom proposed last autumn when the couple were holidaying in Portugal.

When they started laying plans for their wedding - set for December 16th in Edinburgh - Jemma contacted Nottinghamshire-based photographer Ed Godden after seeing his work on Facebook.

Award-winner Ed suggested an ‘engagement shoot’ so he could gauge how ‘to read the couple best’ before the big day…and the result was a stunning souvenir of a memorable day in Scarborough.

“The fi rst place Tom and I visited when we moved to York was Scarborough Sea Life

Centre,” said 26-year-old Jemma, a technician with the Food Environment Research Agency.

“We both love fi sh and plan to visit every Sea Life centre in the UK, but Scarborough seemed the perfect choice for our photo’ assignment.”Tom, 25, is originally from Dalby Forest near Pickering and joined the RAF in 2011, later than he had originally planned after being hit by a car when he was 16 and spending months recovering in Scarborough Hospital. He only narrowly avoided losing a leg! He is now based at RAF Linton on Ouse.

Thanks to their day out in Scarborough, which also saw Ed capture a great selection of images along the seafront, Jemma and Tom already have a stunning photo album to fl ick through…even before tying the knot offi cially.

During a recent visit to London, I was fortunate enough to stay at the luxury

Jumeirah Carlton Tower. Situated on Sloane Street, Knightsbridge, London’s first ‘Tower Hotel’ is an established landmark of the London scene, welcoming guests since the early 60’s. The hotel’s staff and guests have altered, but one thing has remained the same, the hotel’s mission to provide guests with ‘the best of everything’. This is evident from the moment you enter.

Over the years, the hotel has welcomed Royalty and Celebrities alike. However, the staff endeavour to make every visitor feel special and ensures everyone receives the same exceptional, friendly service. It’s clear to see why so many guests have become regular visitors to this exceptional hotel.

The location of Jumeirah Carlton Tower is superb. Situated in the heart of the city, the hotel is close to many of London’s attractions and are easily accessible by both tubeand foot.

The 216 guest rooms and luxurious suites are all decorated to the finest of detail. My Junior Suite certainly had the ‘WOW’ factor and was beautifully decorated, boasting breathtaking views over central London. Each room affords all the amenities you would expect to find in a five star hotel. The relaxing bath, slippers and dressing gown were an added comfort after a hard day exploring London.

My breakfast was fit for a queen and included a sumptuous buffet of fruits, breads, pastries. It was delivered to my suite, to my specified time after an exceptionally comfortablenight sleep.

There are three restaurants in the hotel, one of which offers signature dining at the acclaimed Rib Room Bar & Restaurant, holder of three AA Rosettes. The menu offers imagination and is a delight to the taste buds.

Facilities at The Peak Health Club & Spa are outstanding. The Spa offers award winning treatments, a gymnasium and a 20 meter indoor swimming pool, perfect for keeping fit or for indulging in a little relaxation.

Winning many awards and offering a personalised service with attention to the finest of details, Jumeirah Carlton Tower is the perfect venue for your Wedding Day. With elegant rooms catering for up to 400 guests and a licence to host weddings and civil partnerships, their experienced team will create a bespoke package to meet specific needs and requirements.

Having stayed in many hotels across the world, Jumeirah Carlton Tower is most certainly one of my favourites.

The London borough of Ealing is lovingly dubbed the ‘Queen of the suburbs’ and is known for its gorgeous architecture and vibrant multi-culturism. Located in the centre of this dynamic borough is Ealing Town Hall, one of the most sought after wedding venues in Ealing. The breath-taking architecture of the 19th century building is offset perfectly by all the modern conveniences you would expect to fi nd at a fi rst-rate venue, giving you the best of both worlds for your wedding.

Built in 1887, this dramatic Grade II building offers 6 stunning rooms that can cater for ceremonies and receptions of all sizes, from an intimate soirée of ten to a grand gathering of 450. The rooms present an exciting combination of original architectural features

and contemporary facilities. From the grand gothic revival Victoria Hall to the contemporary split-level Princes Hall, there is certain to be a room to suit your needs. The elegant and distinctive setting serves as the perfect backdrop for your wedding celebration with endless opportunities to capture the memories and treasure the day forever.

Our highly skilled and experienced team of event managers will be on hand to provide you with a personalised and dedicated service and will work with you to ensure every element of your wedding is exactly how you imagined it. THE PERFECT PLACE

New Wedding Venue is Written in the StarsWhen searching for the perfect wedding venue, couples will be able to add a certain out of this world attraction to their wish list, as the National Space Centre has received their Approved Premises Licence. When searching for the perfect wedding venue, couples will be able to add a certain out of this world attraction to their wish list, as the National Space Centre has received their Approved Premises Licence. The Centre has hosted receptions in the past, including a television special for Don’t Tell the Bride, but now couples will be able to say “I do” under giant rockets, beneath the stars in the Sir Patrick Moore Planetarium or beside space suits and satellites. Not a “traditional” venue, the National Space Centre has gained a licence after being approached by a growing number of people looking for something unique, unusual or just downright fun!One bride to be said; “We got engaged under the stars and when we heard that we could get married there too, it was like a dream come true. The Centre is not

at all what I imagined, we have planned romantic photos on the waterfront, dry ice cocktails on arrival and a menu that is everything we asked for. I can’t wait for the big day, we are both so excited. It will be perfect.”Malika Andress, spokesperson for the National Space Centre said; “We never thought of holding weddings at the Centre, but a family approached us and asked us to create their perfect day. They wanted something their children could enjoy and something to wow their guests. We achieved that and the flood gates opened. We have had requests for civil partnerships, Star Wars weddings, renewal of vows for two space scientists and numerous enquiries from couples wanting something tailor made and different. We are delighted to be working with them all and look forward to many exciting events.”Choosing the wedding venue is one of the most important decisions any couple will make when planning the big day. The National Space Centre is a flexible space that can offer all things to all people, from exclusive use of the galleries to entertain your guests, menu planning with our in-house team with fantastic and seasonal locally sourced produce, unique and memorable settings to say “I do” and an all-weather location to do it all beneath the stars. For more information please visit www.venuehire.spacecentre.co.uk/weddings
