Somerville Suite: Supported self-management in action: a case study of HIV support services Voluntary sector services play a fundamental role in supporting the self-management that allows people to live well with HIV. In this panel session, Cheryl Gowar (National AIDS Trust) explains the current state of HIV support service commissioning in the UK; Garry Brough (Positively UK) reports on the lessons learned from implementing a nationwide peer support programme; and Alex Sparrowhawk (Terrence Higgins Trust) discusses the benefits and challenges of providing on-line self-management tools and support.

Trinity Suite: The perfect patient information journey The Patient Information Forum (PIF) is creating a model of what successful access to information for people with long-term conditions looks like in practice, and modelling it in a clinical setting. As well as providing an overview of the project, the workshop will offer participants the opportunity to reflect on existing barriers to information for their patient community, as well as to develop solutions to help overcome those barriers.

Trinity Suite: Addressing health inequalities amongst BAME and LGBT groups through community-based approaches Using learning from Compassion in Dying's My Life, My Decision programme, this workshop will explore the benefits of adopting community-based approaches to address the health inequalities experienced by Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans* individuals when planning for the end of life.

Jeremy Taylor Chief Executive @JeremyTaylorNV

Jeremy Taylor is Chief Executive of National Voices, the national coalition of health and care charities for England. Jeremy acts as a representative, expert advisor, writer, commentator and speaker on issues that National Voices champions, especially person centred care, and patient and public engagement.

Don Redding Director of Policy @MightyDredd

Don Redding is Director of Policy for National Voices, the coalition of national health and social care charities working to bring service user voice into policy making in England. He has led National Voices’ work on integrated care, including the production of five ‘narratives’ demonstrating what people themselves want from ‘person centred coordinated care’. This has helped define the purpose of integration across all system leading bodies and in local areas, and Don remains engaged with the integration pioneers programme. A former social care journalist, Don has worked for leading national voluntary organisations since 1991, and was previously head of policy and communications for Picker Institute Europe.

Sarah Hutchinson Policy Advisor @SarahHutchDPhil

Sarah Hutchinson is Policy Advisor at National Voices, focusing on the work of the Five Year Forward View People and Communities Board. She previously worked in policy and research at St Mungo’s Broadway, focusing on improving access to healthcare for homeless people, and on addressing women’s homelessness. She has also worked as policy officer at women’s charity Platform 51. Sarah has a doctorate in social policy.

Natalie Koussa Programme Lead – Wellbeing Our Way @nataliekoussa

Natalie leads National Voices’ Wellbeing Our Way programme. Wellbeing Our Way uses regional and national communities of practice to spread person-centred approaches like peer support, supporting self-management and care and support planning. Natalie began her career as a child in need social worker and has a background in involving children, young people and parents in commissioning decisions across a Local Authority and Clinical Commissioning Group. She is a Trustee of Ditch the Label, one of the UK's largest anti-bullying charities.

Emma Baylin Regional Coordinator – Wellbeing Our Way @emmabaylin

Emma has joined National Voices’ Wellbeing Our Way programme as Regional Coordinator for Greater Manchester. Emma has over 20 years' experience of working and volunteering in health and community organisations, leading on local, regional and national programmes. Emma’s roles have predominantly seen her based in the Voluntary Sector although she has also worked in local authorities and the Department of Health. Most recently Emma has worked for Regional Voices coordinating projects across Yorkshire and Humber as well as delivering on the Realising the Value programme with NHS England.

Andrew McCracken Head of Communications @hellomccracken

Andrew McCracken is Head of Communications at National Voices and leads on external communications and membership for the organisation. Prior to joining National Voices, Andrew was Head of PR and Communications at London South Bank University. He previously led the Public Affairs function at the Royal College of Physicians and has held a number of communications positions within the NHS.

Michael Bourke Membership Manager @MchlBrk

Michael Bourke is Membership Manager at National Voices and leads on all membership activities for the organisation. He is the coordinator of the Local Influencing and Campaigning Network and leads on member engagement and recruitment. Please contact him to discuss your existing membership or to find out more about joining our coalition. Prior to joining National Voices, Michael was Communications and Membership Officer at Irish in Britain, a charity leading in culturally-specific care models for BAME communities. Previous to this he has worked in the charity sector here in London, a Government Department in Ireland and a marketing body in Denmark.

Holly Dawson Communications and Membership Officer @whathollythinks

Holly Dawson has been the Communications and Membership Officer for National Voices since March 2016. She works on external and member communications, including the website, newsletter, social media and digital design. Holly has worked in the health and care voluntary sector since graduating with a degree in Psychology from the University of Oxford. Her previous roles were in communications, campaigns and volunteer management within a small learning disability charity.

Matt Lloyd Head of Operations

Matt is Head of Operations at National Voices. He brings 16 years’ experience in operational, membership, communications and IT roles across the voluntary and private sectors. Most recently Matt served as Operations Manager at the National Council for Palliative Care.

Pia Charles PA/Administrator

Pia has worked for the organisation since 2004 when it was still the Long-term Conditions Alliance. She balances giving PA support to an extremely busy chief executive with supporting the National Voices’ team with administration support. This includes involvement in finance, membership, purchasing, events, diary management and day to day troubleshooting.

Hannah West Projects and Events Assistant @hanwest94

Hannah is National Voices’ Projects and Events Assistant and assists the team in events organisation, administration and membership engagement. After graduating in 2015 with a degree in International Development, she has undertaken roles in several organisations, in areas including policy and campaigns, and diversity.
