WHAT IS “INDANGAMUCO”?

Indangamuco is a cultural troupe that stands for promote and protect Rwandan traditional culture.

It was created in 1995 at National University of Rwanda.

OBJECTIVESOBJECTIVES Achieving - through traditional

values - the objective of Unity, Reconciliation and Rehabilitation of broken mind of Rwandans who were affected by 1994 Genocide.

because many sons and daughters of Rwanda were coming back from different countries where they had stayed over thirty years and they had different culture and values.

It is through the formation of a cultural troupe that can also plant Rwanda culture to its sons and daughters.

To extend the traditional culture values of Rwanda to different categories include intellectuals, youth and other categories of people.

To show the role of traditional Rwandan culture in the development of the country.

Sensitize the youth to know the history and background of Rwandan cultural values through cultural arts.

To promote cultural exchange between University students at different level and without bounds.

Emphasizing on social and cultural behavior

between INDANGAMUCO Members and other NUR students.

STRATEGIESSTRATEGIESIn order to achieve all above objectives, we set a

strategic plan like:

Hold much cultural concerts with dances, theaters, poems in different areas and at different levels.

Holding conferences on a specific theme in order to contribute to the development of the country,

We participate in much competitions at national and international levels,

Make strong partnerships with secondary cultural troupes in the aim of initiating them to be also involved in this straggle of cultural promotion,

Making international and National network through partnerships with other Universities.

MISSIONS MISSIONS

–Provide strong tools in culture field to University students –Participate in country development

especially unity and reconciliation, through cultural activities like conferences, tours, dances, theaters,…–Create a centre for cultural dances,

theaters,… for Rwandan and foreign youth.

ACHIEVEMENTSACHIEVEMENTSThe followings are the festivals and other

achievements of Indangamuco:

1995-2002:Performances at: Bujumbura, Ngozi and in France, Fundraising to NUR Home building(TITANIC, NYARUTARAMA)

2003: Attend FIAB I (Festival Interuniversitaire des Arts de Butare) with first price.

2004: Attend FIAB II, with first price.2005 : Attend FIAB IIIMarch 2005 : Participate in Cultural Week at KIE

role of University artist Students as a light of Population in fighting against and uprooting Genocidal Ideology in Rwanda”

We were invited to hold cultural show with AMARIZA Cultural Troupe of ENDP KARUBANDA. This because we want to encourage and help the children in secondary schools in cultural field promotion.

guidelines to follow for the artists.

In the purpose of advertisement of the activities of Indangamuco, we made so many cultural emissions on Radio Salus. We also made a clip of one song in collaboration with the Coordinator of “Maison des Jeunes Kimisagara”

We have attended the Education Exhibition of UGANDAN AND RWANDAN Universities, High Institutions and High Schools. At this Day we hold a cultural show at SERENA HOTEL.

In the aim of promoting public Relations and cooperation, we have a partnership with the Students from WASEDA University from Japan. This partnership aims at cultural exchange and mutual understanding through traditional values.

We danced in EACSU 2007 to open and close the General Assembly of this Students’Union in East Africa.

Others are ordinary « spectacles » such as Graduation ceremony of NUR, Welcoming NUR guests, opening some conferencies in NUR, AGEUNR Expo Opening and closing, etc.

12th anniversary of INDANGAMUCO has been cerebrated.

5 members of INDANGAMUCO have been selected by MIJESPOC for attending the 2nd Afro-Arab Youth festival in UGANDA and the theme was “youth in partnership for Peace and development”

We have organized the Workshop of all INDANGAMUCO members which took place in Escale du Sud Hotel, during this we discussed about the future of the troupe and took the new strategies and plans to develop the Ballet.

During the Olympics Games in Beijing, one member of INDANGAMUCO has been called in National Ballet to join other dancers in opening of these Games in China.

We have signed new partnership agreement with Japanese students from Waseda University and we end by organizing a 4 days workshop with them and our members have been issued Certificates after discussions about different topics.

At the SADAKO Ogatta causa honoris, we welcomed the guests by entertainment in NUR and at le Petit Prince.

There are so many other performances done during this year like: opening and closing AGEUNR 09 Expo, Graduation ceremony, closing the Masters program of Agriculture faculty at SERENA Hotel-Kigali, Closing RPF congresses at le petit Prince, opening private Sector Expo 2008 in Southern Province, perform in Rwanda Revenue Authority tax payers days.

Purchasing materials of dancing again in progress,

UMUGANURA Cultural evening show with Album launching “TURATARAMYE” of 6 audio songs which will be followed by Clip elaboration.

Elaborating a video Clip of the cultural evening show done in NUR.

CHALENGESCHALENGES• Lacking of Means to accomplish our plan of

Actions.• No enough materials such as Clothes, drams

and other traditional materials to use in our cultural Shows.

• No informatics materials(Computers,…) to conserve our products (Songs…,) and after some years nothing will be available.

RECOMMENDATIONSRECOMMENDATIONS The Ministry of Education should establish

a policy for improvement of traditional cultural in Universities and other High Institutions.

The University should consider that a student without culture will not be a good people because the science only doesn’t make a good person as Culture.

Indangamuco members should be the first one to support their brothers.
