About National CME on Diabetes

The Department of Community Medicine, Smt. Kashibai Navale Medical College and General Hos-pital, Pune, Maharashtra, India in collaboration with The Pune Regional Centre, The Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (IAPEN) invites perioperative physicians, teaching staff, PG stu-dents, UG students, academicians, dietitians, nutrition support clinicians and allied professionals from India to join us at the National CME on Diabetes in the beautiful Pune City, Maharashtra. The theme for this year is “Beat Diabetes : Halt the rise ” and we hope you will join us as we explore the challenges and celebrate the achievements in preventing Diabetes.

This conference provides the most up-to-date information on diabetes and practice recommenda-tions; latest assessment tools; and the knowledge and resources you need to take your diabetes practice to the next level. We in our Department of Community Medicine have a dedicated core group for this programme which is interested in taking Diabetes concept in a bigger way to physi-cians, surgeons, nutrition support clinicians and dieticians in the hospitals.

About Departmen of Community MedicineThe mission of our founder President Professor M.N.Navale to serve the under privileged rural poor and urban slum peo-ple by providing free of cost but quality medical services is harnessed & nurtured by Community Medicine depart-ment. Since its inception, SKNMC has been contributing significantly in the provision of primary health care free of charge to the poor and needy. It is also contributing in generating and advancing knowledge to improve the provi-sion of comprehensive health care to the people in the field practice areas. The Department of Community Medicine is well equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for the training of undergraduate, postgraduate medical and paramedical students. Postgraduate students from other disciplines are also imparted training in Community Medicine. The depart-ment has been actively involved in planning, implementa-tion, monitoring and evaluation of health programs and ac-tivities in the local community.

The Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (IAPEN) is an organization in the field of parenteral and enteral nutrition and promotes basic research, clinical research, advanced education, organization of consensus statements about clinical care and quality control.

IAPEN (The Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metab-olism) is a registered charity under Society Registra-tion Act, 1960 of Government of India.

Smt. Kashibai Navale Medical College & General Hospital under the able guidance of our founder President Prof. M. N. Navale has grown to be a state of art institution in the field of Medicine. Named after the reverent Mother of Prof. M. N. Navale, the hospital was started in 2006 with just 300 beds. It is now 1044 bedded hospital with 800 teaching beds, 80 ICU beds, 30 Casualty beds, 20 beds for Oral and Maxillofacial surgery, 64 Day Care beds, 2 Pain Clinic and 48 Recovery beds in OT. The medical college was started with an intake of 100 students for MBBS course in Septem-ber 2007. The intake capacity now has been increased to 150 students Our MBBS degree is recognized by medical Council of India and also by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India-New Delhi. The college is affiliated to Maharashtra University of Health Sciences Nashik.
