The National STEM League (NSL) is a practice league for future professionals, one in which students learn the skills to thrive in a team-oriented atmosphere while also learning why algebra and physics are useful tools for daily life. Students prepare for competition through classes and clubs using Ten80’s Student STEM Challenge curriculum. Schools and organizations in their startup year of Student Racing , AV or UAV Challenge are automatically entered into the Face-to-Face (F2F) series and though competition is optional, it is highly recommended! Two Series: F2F or Online Face-to-Face (F2F) Competitions combine high-tech STEM fair and high-drama head- to-head competition. Invitational winners are invited to the NSL Finals. Online Points Race: No Travel Required! Between September and May, students share work to get feedback from remote STEM mentors and earn points. Points categories include Race Engineering, Marketing, Data-Driven Design, etc. Points leaders are invited to the NSL Finals. Three NSL Challenges. Four Technology Platforms. Teams compete in one of these Challenges: • Student Racing Challenge • Student AV Challenge AV teams declare Rover OR Robo Racecar platforms • Student UAV Challenge See the order forms and online store for details on your startup and renewal years. Competition & Curriculum Categories Teams in all NSL Challenges compete in these categories. • Head to Head: Racing, UAV and AV teams compete in dramatic and strategic events. Innovation teams pitch their business plan. • Innovation throughData-Driven Design: Teams get and stay ahead through Research & Development. • Enterprise: Teams manage and market themselves. • Community Leadership: Teams do well by doing good. PROJECT-BASED LEARNING THAT DOESN’T FORGET THE LEARNING

NSL*: Student Racing ChallengeStudents own a technology team and their ultimate goal is to engineer personal performance, team performance, and race performance. The base technology is an RC car that comes ready-to-run so initial engagement is learning how systems operate and how to collect, organize and use data to make design decisions. Students ultimately rebuild the car with improved parts, honing in on an ideal system for racing success.

Elementary Division, Grades 5 - 6Modifiable 1:18 scale RC car with training mode

Secondary Division, Grades 7 - 12Modifiable 1:10 scale RC car

*NSL = National STEM LeagueTeams earn points by uploading work to an online dashboard as well as competing face-to-face (F2F) locally and nationally.

NSL: Autonomous Vehicle (AV) Challenge Students integrate electrical, mechanical and computer systems, the three systems at the core of every robot, to meet a series of challenges that parallel AV operations on streets and highways, in remote areas of land, sea and space.

Novice Robo Racecar • 1:18 scale electric RC car• Micro:bit and motor shield use input from multiple sensors• Drag & drop coding with option for text-based coding

Advanced Robo Racecar• Highly modifiable 1:10 scale electric RC car• Arduino + motor shield that requires soldering complex wiring • Input from multiple sensors• Text-based coding

Advanced Rover• Students assemble the Ten80 Rover or one they design• Arduino + motor shield that requires soldering complex wiring • Text-based coding

NSL: Student UAV (Drone) Challenge

Novice Division: Students cultivate teamwork, communication, aeronautics and piloting skils using an entry level drone.

Hacker’s Division: Students reverse engineer the drone brain and systems, ultimately replacing the stock systems with a custom Arduino-based brain.
