National Philanthropy Day is a special day to recognize and pay tribute to the great contributions that philanthropy—and those active in our own philanthropic community—make to our lives, communities and the world.
AFP Golden Gate will join chapters across the country and globally on November 18 to present National Philanthropy Day 2021 virtually, and honor individuals, organizations and businesses in the San Francisco Bay Area who generously give their time, talents and resources for the enrichment and benefit of our communities. Over 2,500 Bay Area nonprofit professionals are invited to attend this event, with a typical attendance of 600.
We invite philanthropic leaders in the San Francisco Bay Area to join the Celebration as Sponsors, and in doing so, pay tribute to these exceptional members of our community. Proceeds from National Philanthropy Day help sustain the Chapter’s professional development programs, supporting fundraising professionals across the Bay Area.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of our Golden Gate Chapter of AFP (Association of Fundraising Professionals). To mark this milestone, we have invited Michael Krasny, long-time host of KQED’s Forum, to MC this special event.

In addition, you will be recognized before, during and after the event in all media outlets, both social and traditional, as well as acknowledged during the program by our MC, Michael Krasny. You will receive 6 tickets to attend our in-person Honoree Reception on September 29; 5pm, at the Fairmont Hotel, and unlimited registrations to National Philanthropy Day. (Tickets are free, but registration is required.) Your logo and website will be linked from the AFP Golden Gate website. You will receive the opportunity to name a Spirit of Philanthropy honoree as well as a full page advertisement in the event program.
PLATINUM SPONSOR $10,000As a Platinum Sponsor, you will be recognized before, during and after the event in all media outlets, both social and traditional, as well as acknowledged during the program by our MC, Michael Krasny. SPIRIT OF PHILANTHROPY $1,000 This special award category is a way to publicly recognize an outstanding volunteer, employee, board or community member in your organization. Along with the sponsoring organization, honorees will be recognized during the virtual event and their picture and biography will be included in the event program (PDF). Sponsoring organizations will also receive a framed certificate and special gift to present to their honoree after the event.
