History Of National Park

1872, United States National Park System grown from a single and public reservation. ( Yellowstone National Park ) Embrace over 450 natural, historical, recreational and culture areas. Idea credited to the artist named George Catlin. In 1932, George Catlin travelled the Northern Great Plains and concerned about Indian Civiliazation Wildlife. On August 25 1916, President Woodrow Wilson created the National Park Service.

History Of Taman Negara, Pahang

Originally during British rule, as a wildlife reserve in 1925:- To protect wildlife and game species. Gazetted in 1925 as the Gunung Tahan Game Reserve.1300 square kilometers of untouched natural tropical rainforest.Separate gazettes by the states of Pahang, Terengganu andKelantan in 1938-1939 and is later astablished as a national park. Originally named in 1939 as the King George V Park. After Malaysia achieved independence, the park renamed asTaman Negara so until today.

Characteristics of Taman Negara

Comprises 4000 square kilometer of mountain peaks, primaryforest, rivers and cascades. Great value of recreational resources and ecotourismdestination. Maintains a natural habitat for a variety of flora and fauna. Trees are hundreds of years old and form a giant canopy. Oldest tropical rain forest. More than 300 species are counted. Included the highest peak, Gunung Tahan at 2,187 metres (7,173feet) . 10,000 plants, 150,000 insects, 25,000 invertebrates, 675 birds,270 reptiles, 250 freshwater fish and 200 mammal.
