One RC-26 aircraft with Distributed Real-Time Infrared (DRTI) capability and support personnel from the 141st

Air Refueling Wing (Washington Air National Guard) have been deployed to Fairbanks, AK in support of

Predictive Services Discussion: A cold front will move into the Pacific Northwest, drawing monsoonal

moisture northward through the Great Basin and into the Northern Rockies. Scattered storms are

expected from the Rocky Mountain Front west over the Divide and into the Great Basin. Storms will

be mostly on the wet side, but lightning should be abundant. A few drier storms will be possible

across central Oregon and extreme northern California. A trough of low pressure located over the

East will keep temperatures slightly below average. Scattered storms will be possible across the

Carolinas and Georgia, as a weakening frontal boundary remains stalled over the region. In Alaska,

widespread showers will be possible through afternoon across the eastern Interior; while most of the

reminder of the state begins to dry out. Temperatures will be slightly below average as a trough

Spot Weather Forecast Weather- Fire Behavior Category

Spot weather forecasts should be requested or submitted online for those fires that have potential for extreme fire behavior, exceed initial attack, or are located in areas where Red Flag Warnings have been issued.

Basic elements needed for a spot weather forecast include:

Name of fire and management agency. Request time and date. Location by ¼ section. Drainage name. Exposure

Size

Elevation (top and bottom). Fuel type. Fire character (ground, crown, etc.). Weather conditions (place, elevation, observation time, wind direction, wind velocity, dry bulb, wet

bulb, remarks and important U.S. indicators).

Activity: Calibrate your Kestrel and review belt weather kit use.
