(NGCP) brings together

organizations that are

committed to informing

and encouraging girls to

pursue careers in

science, technology,

engineering, and

mathematics (STEM).

Goals1. Maximize access to shared resources with public

and private sector organizations and institutions

interested in expanding girls’ participation in STEM.

2. Strengthen the capacity of programs by sharing

exemplary practice research and program models,

outcomes and products.

3. Use the leverage of a network and the

collaboration of individual girl-serving STEM

programs to create the tipping point for gender

equity in STEM.

Eco Explorers Module

1. Youth learn about watersheds by

exploring a 3D simulation

environment as a scientist.

2. Youth apply what they learn to their

own communities.

3. Youth capture and share their

knowledge using technology and

transmedia tools.

Expectations

• Implement Eco Explorers activities with a minimum of 10 youth per program

• Access to computers and internet to fully utilize the transmedia resources

• Installation of 3D simulation software

Expectations

• Attend ALL training sessions:

– June 19, July 10, AND July 31

• Complete Eco Explorers Activities by the end of September, 2014

• Participate in program evaluation activities at the end of September, 2014

Criteria for Successful

Participation

• Implementing STEM programs this summer

• Access to computers and internet

• Experience and comfort working with online tools and

technology

• Experience with project-based learning and media

making

Participation

• Work with Middle School Latina and other underserved youth

How To Apply

• Download a Word version of the application and prepare your application

• Submit your application online by June 9, 2014.

• All programs will be notified by June 12, 2014 about the status of their application.

Project Timeline• June 9, 5:00pm-PST: Applications Due

• June 12: Notifications are sent out to applicants

• June 19, 10:30am-PST / 1:30pm-EST: 90 minute Training

• July 10, 10:30am-PST / 1:30pm-EST: 90 minute Training

• July 31, 10:30am-PST / 1:30pm-EST: 60 minute Check-In

• September (Date and Time TBD): Evaluation and Feedback
