The bill will now be forwarded to the Cabinet for further approval.  Noted film-maker Rituparno Ghosh (49) passed away.  During his two-decade long filmy career, he made 19 movies and won 12 National Awards and several international honours. His acclaimed and award winning  Bengali films include Bariwali, Asukh, Utsab, Shubho  Mahurat, Chokher Bali, Dosar, Shob Charitro Kalponik and Abohoman. The telecom ministry has decided to set up mobile towers in 9 Naxal-affected States [Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha,  Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh,  Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh] to give operational advantage to security forces while dealing with the menace of Left Wing Extremism (LWE). Of the total amount, 1,469 crore would go for setting up of 2,199 cellular towers, while around 1,600 crore would be spent on operating these towers over the next 5 years.  JUNE 2 Oil prices were lower in Asian trade on 2nd June 2013 after OPEC kept its output ceiling unchanged and voiced concerns over weak global economic growth dragging crude demand.

 JUNE 1

 In view of extensive use of IT based gadgets in every sphere

of life and increasing incidents of cybercrime, the Haryana

 government has decided to constitute special teams of 

 persons possessing professional skills so as to detect and 

investigate cybercrimes.

TCS has bagged a 6-year ` 1,100-crore systems integration

contract from India Post as part of the latter’s ‘India Post 

2012’ programme including developing and supporting 

mail, finance and accounts, HR, and customer interaction

management solutions for all channels including Rural ICT 

 platform. TCS will also manage data migration,

infrastructure, Service Level Agreement (SLA), call centre

and centralized 24x7 service desk operation for Department 

of Post (DoP).

 Faridabad and Gurgaon (Haryana) will soon have ‚One-

Stop Crisis Centre‛ (OSCC) facility which will 

 provide legal aid, police services and counseling women

victims under one roof.

 NSL Renewable Power which develops and operates

renewable energy projects across India, will be provided 

 funding of $5 million by the International Finance

Corporation (IFC)  – a member of the World Bank Group

(not to be confused with World Bank) to support the

company to double its power generation capacity over the

next 18 months. This is the 2nd time this company isreceiving funds from the IFC after getting a $20-million

equity investment that IFC had made in the company in

2011.

 JUNE 3

S. Ravind has been appointed as Director of the Bangalore-

based Electronics & Radar Development 

 Establishment (LRDE), a unit of the Defence Research and 

 Development Organisation (DRDO).

 After probing various aspects of bribery scam in railways,

CBI is all set to question former Railway Minister Pawan

 Kumar Bansal this week.

Union Minister Charan Das Mahant was on Monday

appointed as the acting President of the Chhattisgarh

 Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said 

that the state government is formulating an ambitious plan

 for development of Faridabad. Hooda stated this at a

 function organized by Faridabad Industries Association

(FIA) in Faridabad, said an official release.

 Bollywood actress Jiah Khan of Nishabd fame was found 

hanging from the ceiling at her Juhu residence on late

 Monday night.

 Bihar government has set a target to enhance the skills of 

one crore people in various works in the next five years so

as to lift them above the poverty line, Chief Minister Nitish

 Kumar said today.

 National Commission for Protection of Child Rights

(NCPCR) today came down heavily on the Meghalaya

 Labour department for its failure in handling the issue of 

child labour in the state and directed it to conduct a

comprehensive child labour survey in all districts of the

 state to draw plans to eliminate the problem.
