National Defense Authorization Act

A Threat to Democracy

So much for innocent until proven guilty. So much for limited government.

• The National Defense Authorization Act – a law passed by the Senate which would place domestic terror investigations and interrogations into the hands of the military and which would open the door for trial-free, indefinite detention of anyone, including American citizens, so long as the government calls them terrorists. Obama had issued a veto threat and after minimal adjustments he signed it into law.

“The legislation could give future Presidents the authority to throw American citizens into prison for life without charges or a trial, this bill also contains misguided provisions that in the name of fighting terrorism essentially authorize the indefinite imprisonment of American citizens without charges. While we must aggressively pursue international terrorists and all of those who would do us harm, we must do it in a way that protects the constitution and civil liberties which make us proud to be Americans.”-Senator Bernie Sanders

The “War on Terror”

Following the 9/11 attacks and under the guise of the war on terror the PATRIOT Act was passed, then the Domestic Security Enhancement Act, now the NDAA.We see it time and time again, government uses fear to manipulate the masses.

The American public in large part has become desensitized and compliant, they are distracted by useless sports stats, celebrity gossip, and fashion trends to keep us from discovering the corruption, fraud and now massive infringement on our rights.

The Media

Page 9: National Defense Authorization Act A Threat to Democracy

• The media who is supposed to be an invisible hand to the checks and balance system is in line with the government. They portray the protestors in an ill manner and often do compare them with terrorists. What is even more interesting is how quiet they have been through the signing of the NDAA. “The American broadcast media has been eerily silent on NDAA’s passage into law, despite the fact that foreign newspapers and broadcast networks have been covering this as one of their top international stories,”

Are you being labeled as a potential Terrorist?

• The NDAA was signed on the pretense that it is to capture terrorists, yet under this law anyone can be labeled a terrorist ! From my research this includes protestors, religious people, people preparing for any kind of disaster, students, people in debt, people who legally own guns, and many more.
