On 1 st November 2015, GTU celebrated the National Days of Angola, Lebanon Myanmar and Panama. The Global Country Study Report (GCSR) is a two-semester project in the curriculum of GTU’s Global MBA program. Since, last three years, MBA students of GTU are studying various aspects like culture, politics, environment, economics and demography of countries of the world. They identify the bilateral trade opportunity of Gujarat and India with the country of study and propose a detailed business plan to establish or improve the business in a specific industry. During the academic year 2015-16, students of GTU MBA institutes are studying more than 100 countries. GTU has started the unique activity of celebrating the National/Independence Days of the countries, being studied under the GCSR program. On 1st November 2015, GTU celebrated the National Days of Angola, Lebanon Myanmar and Panama. The Global Country Study Report (GCSR) is a two-semester project in the curriculum of GTU’s Global MBA program. Myanmar and Panama

1st November, 2015, at GTU Chandkheda Campus

The National Day Celebration began with lamp lighting by all the guests. As a convention of the National Day Celebration, all the participants and Guests recited the National Anthems of India, Angola, Lebanon Myanmar and Panama.

Dr. Sarika Srivastava acted as the Master of Ceremony. Mr. Keyur Darji & Dr. Jyoti Srivastava welcomed the esteemed guests by offering them flower bouquet

Continent and Member – BOA, GCSR GTU, and Mr. K. H. Patel, Former Indian High

Commissioner to Uganda and Ambassador to Rwanda and Burundi & Member - BOA, GCSR

To celebrate the national days of Angola, Lebanon Myanmar and Panama faculty members and students of GIDC Rajjushrof Rofel Institute of Management studies Vapi - who are studying “Angola”, Ahmedabad Institute Of Technology - who are studying “Lebanon” Golden Jubilee Institute Of Management & Technology Sidhpur - who are studying “Myanmar” and Sigma Institute Of Engineering - MBA Programme - who are studying “Panama” participated in the event at Gujarat Technological University.

Dr. Akshai Aggarwal, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, GTU welcomed the audience and appreciated the initiative of National Day Celebration, organized by the Centre for Global Business Studies. He said that the global MBA program of GTU, in terms of structure, is one of the best programs in country, He highlighted the need to develop cross-cultural literacy by learning additional foreign languages. He told that learning foreign languages is not difficult task as substantial material is available on internet. He shared major historical facts of Myanmar.

Mr. K H Patel, Member, Board of Advisors Committee for GCSR and former Ambassador to Rwanda addressed the students and faculties. He highlighted major

historical facts and significance of diplomatic relationship between India and Myanmar. He said, “Both countries came under British

colonial rule, and Burmese leaders associated with Indian leaders during the struggle for national independence. Nehru and U Nu built up a personal friendship that formed the basis of good Indo-Burmese relations, which with ups and downs have lasted 50

years. In fact, India and Myanmar have traditionally much in common, with cultural, historical, ethnic and religious aspects.

Myanmar became a member of ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) in July 1997. As the only ASEAN country which shares a land border

with India, Myanmar is a bridge between India and ASEAN. Myanmar was given the status of observer in SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) in August 2008.”

Dr. Shivendra Gupta, Member, Board of Advisors Committee for GCSR, suggested students to develop interest in sports activities as sport plays important role in developing personality. He highlighted the importance of acquiring relevant information and English language proficiency. He offered some tips for English improvement.

Mr. Sunil Modi, Member, Board of Advisors Committee for GCSR and President, Babu Kakkal & Sons, Foreign Trade Advisor &

Consultant for African Continent, shared his personal experience of African countries and motivated the students. He shared the fact that GCSR is a unique program in the country and no other University of India is having similar program. He highlighted the facts of African country Angola.

Mr. Amit Parikh shared his global experiences and defined the term GTU as G means Guide for future, T means transform the personality, and U means uplifting the career. He motivated the students to take GCSR program seriously.

Mr. Keyur Darji, Deputy Director–GTU proposed the vote of Thanks to the speakers on behalf of GTU for gracing the National Day Celebration and sharing their experiences with the Participants and faculty members of all the four institutes.

In the Technical session, the students from all the institutes presented the brief on the STEEPLED Analysis done to their respective countries, analysis of the prospective industries of the GCSR country, prospects in Gujarat and the same at the allocated other states of India.

The panel members have given their comments about the area of improvements with respect to the presentations on specific country.

At the end of the celebration, Centre for Global Business Studies- Gujarat Technological University presented awards to all the four institutes for their active participation in the National Day Celebration of Angola, Lebanon Myanmar and Panama.
