SPECIAL NATIONAL CONFERENCE SUMMARY

In January 2016, Mortar Board held a virtual Special National Conference to vote on incoming officers of the National Council and to decide matters of governance. Amendments to the Bylaws of Mortar Board, Inc. declared that members may not run for collegiate office unless their membership fees are paid. Also, chapters may not elect co-officeholders unless their section coordinator and the National Council approve. The length of active collegiate service was also clarified.

Elisabeth Shelby HorneDrury University, 2016, PresidentMajor and minor: Psychology and pre-med

My undergraduate education has taught me that successful leadership is rooted in ones ability to adapt to change and

engage in group collaboration with individuals from various backgrounds. I am confident that the aforementioned skills will not only serve as invaluable tools when I matriculate to medical school in one year, but also when serving as a member of the National Council.

Robert KichakUniversity of Cincinnati, 2014, Vice PresidentMajor: Communications

I believe that as a board member, it is important to have a strong personal vision that is still malleable by other experienced

and passionate individuals. This is the primary way that I would contribute to the National Council of Mortar Board. I would contribute my ideas and vision based on the best interests of my fellow students.

Victoria Lynn O’BrienGrove City College, 2016, PresidentMajor and minor: Communication and Visual Arts, Pre-Law, Entrepreneurship

As the future president of GCC’s Mortar Board Chapter Alpha Theta Mu and

potential representative to the National Council of Mortar Board, I desire to aid in the long term success of the organization through quality communication, the promotion of service and provision of equal opportunity through impactful leadership.
