1. International
a. WHO has said that an extra 10,000 children per month may die this year from
malnutrition due to the COVID -19 crisis.
b. Britain has called for more global cooperation in response to the pandemic and
a push to ease the debt burden on the world's poorest countries.
c. World Bank (WB) said its executive board has approved $12 billion in new
funding for developing countries to finance the purchase and distribution of
COVID-19 vaccines, test kits and treatments for their citizen.
d. Several coronavirus clusters have emerged in Australia's two most populous
states, prompting the biggest, New South Wales, to delay easing some restriction.
e. Facebook Inc has decided to ban ads that discourage people from getting
vaccinated.
f. Russia has granted regulatory approval to second COVID-19 vaccine
EpiVacCorona.
g. Indonesian Foreign Minister has said that AstraZeneca is set to provide Indonesia
with 100 Mn COVID vaccines next year.
h. A Japanese supercomputer while predicting the effects of humidity on the
dispersion of virus particles has simulated that humidity lower than 30 % resulted
in more than double the number of aerosolized particles compared to levels of
60 % or higher.
2. National
a. Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal has tested positive for COVID-19.
b. Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has directed all of its officials, except
directors, to work from home for the next two days due to recent cases of the
coronavirus detected in the department in Islamabad.
c. World Economic Outlook (WEO) report published by IMF has predicted
Pakistan’s economy could grow by only 1%, by the end of this fiscal year.
d. Federal Minister for Planning and Developing Asad Umar said coronavirus cases
are increasing in some parts of the country due to social gatherings and non-
compliance of SOPs.
