We all know how important it is
to follow up on the childrenbeing referred for possible eye
problems after our screening is
over. As many of us have indi-
cated, our screening work is not
helpful if the referred child does
not then get help.
Most of our children being
screened have young parents,
who grew up with all the latest
technology, so it makes sense to
become more tech savvy in
our approach to follow up.
Some suggestions and ideas to
make this easier are to:
Include an email address for the
organization and/or a QR code
so they can go right to the web
site and fill out a simple form.
This form is a simple yes and no:
Did the child see an eye care
specialist? Y or N
If so was the problem: A,B or C
In addition obtain e mail ad-dresses so you can send a re-
minder to the parents about
follow up.
Follow up with the teacher is
sometimes very successful as
they know the parents well and
can approach them as to
whether or not the child has
received eye care follow up.
