NAMRC Timeline: Goal Area 1 – Organization Development (cont’d)

Support and resources to carry out the proposed goals and objectives:

In general, the current NAMRC resources should be adequate but will need to be reassessed by each

committee (a small allocation for teleconferencing at least two times a year may be needed).

Likely impact of the proposed goals, objectives and outcomes:

The primary impact of the three proposed goals will hopefully be a positive one on how NAMRC

functions and will allow for communications between the leadership and the members. In addition, the

reorganization of the Publication Committee to include external marketing responsibilities will also

provide support to the outreach functions identified.

Roles and responsibilities of the Board Members and NAMRC membership:

The roles of the elected officers have been redefined (e.g., president-elect has specific roles and

responsibilities).

Likely impact of the proposed goals, objectives, and outcomes:

Increased awareness of NAMRC’s mission. Increase membership. Stronger voice on the hill. Increase

quality of service delivery. Increased knowledge of multi-cultural concerns.

Determine how each goal and objective will be evaluated to provide feedback and assessment

of progress being made toward achieving the proposed goal area:

The success and/or progress associated with each activity will be assessed and measured by the

contents of the written feedback by the responsible parties. Hence, the feedback required should

contain information related to progress or problem areas and offer alternatives.

It is intended that the mentoring program will be beneficial in helping the mentorees to learn new skills, clarify values and ultimately aid in the individuals in the program and Association in advancement.

Support and resources to carry out the proposed goals and objectives:

NAMRC has adequate support and resources to carry out proposed four components outlined in the

professional goal area. Developing flexible timeline and committee member’s assignments, creating a

line item in the association’s annual budget will assure the success and contribution of the identified

activities. In addition, NAMRC’s commitment to partnerships and fund development will provide other

means of support; however, the committee will need to make appropriate matches among activities,

timeline, and partnerships.

Likely impact of the proposed goals, objectives, and outcomes:

See outcomes for component areas outlined under the Professional Development goal area.

Page 23: National Association of Multicultural Rehabilitation Concerns (NAMRC) Timeline: Year 2003 – Year 2005

NAMRC Timeline: Goal Area V – Professional Development (cont’d)

Roles and responsibilities of the Board Members and NAMRC membership:

According to NAMRC’s by-laws, other than the process of amending the by-laws, electingprocess and other by-laws activities, power is entrusted in the Board of the Association. Thepast president is assigned to oversee the operation of the Professional Development Committee, with a Board member serving a two-year term chairperson position, and

committee member will become the Association’s membership at large. Input will be collected from the members and several opportunities for feedback and evaluations will be conducted.

Determine how each goal and objective will be evaluated to provide feedback and assessment

of progress being made toward achieving the proposed goal.

The timeline provides dates that coincide with actions/activities that should occur and the person(s) responsible for those activities. Date(s) for reporting back to the Board will allow the Board to assess how the processes under each of the goal area are coming along.

Identify the potential contribution of the proposed services/activities:

The activities listed under 1 can expand and achieve the mission of NAMRC because multicultural issues, multicultural awareness, and education are the primary goal of

NAMRC. We can envision new links on the NAMRC web site to house research from many NAMRC

and non-NAMRC members, if appropriate. Based on the comments received from the annual conference and solicitation from the newsletter, provide particular sessions based on the feedback to assist NAMRC in expanding its outreach and educational efforts to the membership that can be quantified (e.g., number of new members recruited from

different diverse backgrounds).

Support and resources to carry out the proposed goals and objectives:

NAMRC has adequate support and resources to carry out the proposed goals. Many of the proposed activities are already in place by NAMRC; however, as NAMRC considers

moving forward with removing itself from NRA, resource development will need to be considered

at a different level.

Page 26: National Association of Multicultural Rehabilitation Concerns (NAMRC) Timeline: Year 2003 – Year 2005

NAMRC Timeline: Goal Area VI – Advocacy and Education (cont’d)

Likely impact of the proposed goals, objectives, and outcomes:

The likely impact could be: (1) more presentations at the annual conference dealing with particular

issues that the NAMRC membership would like to address, (2) more information on the web page to

assist with the educational process of NAMRC membership, (3) more activity advocacy reaching

NAMRC membership, and (4) increased membership from other diverse groups.

Roles and responsibilities of the Board Members and NAMRC membership:

Because of the many linkages involve NAMRC Board members/chairs, it will be important to contact,

for example, the editor of the newsletter for information that members would like to include. In addition,

if information needed to be put on the NAMRC web site, the person on the NAMRC Board responsible

for maintaining the web site could be contacted and sent the information to upload on the website. The

NAMRC Board could: (1) assist with getting information into membership outlets (e.g., newsletter and

conference evaluation), and (2) assist with developing questions to solicit information relative to

Advocacy and Education.

Page 27: National Association of Multicultural Rehabilitation Concerns (NAMRC) Timeline: Year 2003 – Year 2005

NAMRC Timeline: Goal Area VI – Advocacy and Education (cont’d)

Determine how each goal and objective will be evaluated to provide feedback and assessment

of progress being made toward achieving the proposed goal areas:

Getting input from NAMRC Board, (2) Getting input from the membership via the newsletter, and

(3) Getting input from the membership via the conference evaluation form.
