As we recognize our extraordinary colleagues today, I want to thank the entireNASA workforce for its outstanding effort over the past year. Whether it wasstaying the course and helping us safely fly out the shuttle manifest ordiscovering new planets in other solar systems or demonstrating newtechnologies on Earth - you've inspired the next generation and continued tokeep us on a path to a bright future. I'm proud ofyou and the agency's manyaccomplishments. Today, we salute our friends and colleagues who haveachieved personal and professional milestones and helped us all rememberwhy we work for NASA in the first place.
I want to especially salute the space shuttle workforce that has helped usbravely reach new milestones each and every year of the past three decades. The flagship of our human spaceflight endeavor, the International Space Station, was made possible by the shuttle, and it will lead us to new milestones over thenext decade and serve as our anchor for farther exploration.
I am confident that the NASA workforce, the people we honor today and all oftheir colleagues, are the very best. You are bringing NASA into a new era ofachievement and helping to unfold the new direction that will help our countrycontinue to lead the world in human spaceflight and exploration.
Please join me in honoring these men and women who are recognized withHonor Awards today They are the heart and soul of NASA. They are theteammates who have worked tirelessly beside you to achieve things that no oneelse is doing. The hard things that our agency is called on to do and does withenthusiasm and professionalism.
I congratulate everyone who is being recognized today and thank you for yourdedication. For sharing your gifts with us and using them to benefit people allover the world. It's my honor to lead the NASA team and to travel the countryto meet so many of you in the field, at the launchpads and laboratories andwherever you work to carry out our mission. And it's my honor to tell everyoneI meet about the great work you do.
Thank you.
