Assistant City Editor (1987-1989) – Promoted to this position, which required supervision of several reporters dispatched to cover city government, politics, elections, etc.

Reporter (City Hall Bureau Chief) (1986-1987) – Promoted to lead reporter on the political beat and managed the bureau office based at City Hall; also covered Georgia congressional election campaigns.
