Nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net (Luke 5:5)
∗ Simon’s personal experience in fishing seems to be one like ours, why?
∗ How many times we did rely confidently on richness thinking that money is the key to a happy and successful life, then we go through tribulations for we love money so much, and pierce ourselves with many sorrows, and eventually realize that the Love of money is a root
of all kinds of evil (1 Tim 6:10)? It is as if we repeat with Simon: we have toiled all night
and caught nothing (Luke 5:5). How many are those who have wasted their lives seeking honor and people’s appreciation and appraisal, then found out that the justified is not he who earned people’s glory but God’s? They too have toiled all night and caught nothing.
∗ Apparently, this reliance upon one’s own abilities prepares the mind to disobedience and transgression against God’s commandments. It is written in the Bible: Lean not on your
own understanding (Prov. 3:5). If you want to bear fruit, you have to confront your experience and yourself with the word “Nevertheless”…Nevertheless at Your word I will
let down the net. It is true that the Lord’s guidance does not always seem to make sense from a human point of view. Surely, people like Noah, Abraham, Joshua and many other prophets and kings wouldn’t have witnessed the Lord’s kindness, goodness, grace, miraculous work and salvation for His chosen people of Israel, if they did not obey and overcome their human calculations and mental arguments. If Simon has considered what Jesus commanded him to be unreasonable to catch fish in the middle of the day and far from the shore, he would not have caught a great number of fish that broke their net. Also he would not have been called by the Lord Jesus to catch men and, perhaps, would not have been able to answer courageously with the apostles in front of the high priest: we ought to
obey God rather than men (Acts 5:29).
∗ Thus, obedience is a true struggle against one’s will; it is walking against what seems to be unreasonable in God’s guidance. Obedience of the divine commandment is motivated by the strong belief that it is the way to receive blessing from the Lord (Psalms 24:5). Unfortunately, we sometimes approach obedience as a way of avoiding the negative consequences of disobedience; obedience as a burden not as the road to blessing. But obedience is an expression of love; that is how St. John the evangelist explains it: For this
is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not
burdensome (1 John 5:3). And as a response to loving God, we know that all things work
out for good (Romans 8:28)
∗ Therefore, when we neglect obedience to God because of laziness, mistrusting His promises, and reliance on personal experience or human reasoning, we actually become reluctant or rejecting the opportunity for God to demonstrate His power in us. But when we obey Him and – supported by His word – work as He commanded, He blesses our deed for we cannot do without Him. And unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it (Psalms 127:1)

Church news 1. The church is organizing new meeting for the families under the
name of (The Christian Family Meeting) the meeting will be held on the first Saturday of each month, it will discus the Christian family life and the problems of the children inside and outside the families.
2. the church is organizing dinner on the 23 of November 2013 before the fast, 25$ for adult, 15$ kids, 12 year and under Tickets will be available in the church basement, Come and bring others
3. The celebration of the Saints feast will be held Thursday, ctober 31 from 6 to 9 Donations for the celebration of the feast of all Saints will be collected. Your contribution is appreciated.
4. An amount of 1000$ from the cents collected was sent to the church of Africa. God Bless You All.
