May be 95% pure when enters the US, but when sold it may be 3% to 70%
Pure heroin is white powder
Often cut with sugar, powdered milk, starch, other drugs, and quinine, which can be deadly
Many times users are unaware of the purity of their heroin or what their heroin is cut with
Black tar heroin varies from dark brown to black and is sticky like roofing tar
Heroin is often mixed with alcohol

HEROIN FACTSThere has been an increase in supply of heroin in the United States. This has resulted in purer heroin (60%-70%), easer access/availability, and cheaper costs (About $10/bag).
“Heroin use has been rising since 2007, growing from 373,000 yearly users to 669,000 in 2012”
“Heroin overdose deaths have also spiked, increasing 45% from 2006 to 2010”
Heroin was originally a large problem in urban areas, but has now spread into suburban and rural areas as well.
