Team Nanmai is delighted to bring to you it’s

Annual newsletter. It is an honor for us to have

joined forces with you to serve our society’s

special people in every possible way we can.

This newsletter brings the details of our work

for the past year and our plans for the future.

Team Nanmai would like to wholeheartedly thank our donors, members, volunteers, well

wishers, fans everywhere and on the social networking websites and also our affiliated

organizations for their continuous support. We will strive harder and continue to support

more and more special people with your benevolent support.

Statement of Accounts / Expenditure Break-up (Apr 2012 - Mar 2013)

Following chart shows the Team Nanmai’s spend split-up during Apr 2012 – Mar 2013 in its

various activities helping people in need. 70% of those expenses was spent on educational

scholarships for deserving students and development of schools identified through known

contacts. Also, we fully understand that everyone of us work hard to earn a living and so we

ensure that we do adequate screening in identifying the right people for best use of your

hard earned contribution.

Administration Cost: Team Nanmai is comprised of volunteers who put their time and

energy for the society without any strings attached. There is no administration cost involved

in our activities and all the funds provided by donors are utilized only for social activities.

Hi Team,

This is in regards that I have joined Syntel on 17th December for

which I have to thank Nanmai Team on providing the personality

development program (PDP) and the mock interviews, without

which I would have not been selected.

Educational Scholarship Program

Team Nanmai has provided scholarship to a total of

110 economically challenged students. These students

hail from 4 schools, 10 arts & science colleges and

from 11 engineering colleges across Tamil Nadu. In

addition, Notebooks & Stationeries were provided to

179 school students.

Swami Vivekananda Book Bank

Swami Vivekananda Book bank was launched in January

2006 to loan books to economically challenged students

studying in Engineering colleges. Students are identified

through a well defined process which relies on identification

through word of the mouth. At the end of each semester, the

students return the books which are reused for next

semester. Books are collected through “Book Collection

Drives” during which students completing their graduation

donate their used books. For the current semester, we have

given books to 50 students and we have more than 1000

Engineering books in inventory spanning across semesters

and across majors.

We would like to sincerely thank all the donors who have donated books for our book bank and Mr. Subramanian for providing place for storing the books

For the next year 2013-14, we have set a target of 100 beneficiaries for our book bank.

Personality Development Program

Team Nanmai’s Personality Development Program

(PDP) was started to create self-awareness to the

students & to prepare them to face their future

after graduation. PDP classes focus on improving

the student’s communication, inter-personal and

other soft skills with topics such as

In the academic year 2012-13, two batches of PDP have been conducted and 25 students

were benefitted. As part of the PDP, guest lectures on Personality development and

interview tips were provided by HR personnel from reputed organizations.

Community Development

In Jan 2013, Team Nanmai conducted Essay, Oratory

and Quiz competitions in 10 Govt. schools in

Madurantagam and Attur areas. More than 500 school

students participated in various competitions and the

winners were awarded with many prizes and

certificates.

Community Development

Team Nanmai has provided desks and benches

to couple of under developed Government

schools listed below. Until now, the children used

to sit only on the floor. The infrastructure of the

schools are in a state of neglect as they are

located on top of hill stations which are very

remote and without any proper transport facility.

Children Home / Old Age Home Support

Team Nanmai has been providing continuous support to

the following two old age homes and a Children home

Good Shepherd Old Age Home, Mangankadu, Attur

Kamalalayam Home for Disabled, Ponnaram patti

Agadeeba Oli , Pattabiram

Kamalalayam Home for Disabled, Ponnaram patti, Valappadi

Mr. Adhirajan and Mrs. Gowri, founder and care takers of Kamalalayam home for disabled at

Ponnaram patti, Valappadi started the home in 2003, where 47 children are taken care.

Most of the inmates are differently abled and are looked after with utmost love and care.

Team Nanmai has been continuously supporting Kamalalayam for the past few months

and bears responsibility for portion of the monthly provisions. Apart from the monthly

contribution, Team Nanmai takes care of other important items like cot, mixer, fan and

dress for the kids on a need basis.

Aga Deeba Oli Blind Welfare Trust near Pattabiram, Tiruvallore district is a home for

visually challenged people who sell small items like mobile phone pouch, ID card cover, pen

etc., in trains in suburban Chennai. Their earning isn’t sufficient to meet their ends.

Team Nanmai bears responsibility for the grocery expenses required for this home for the

past few months. Apart from the monthly grocery expenses, we also take care of other items

like Mixer, utensils on a need basis. We have also provided scholarship for couple of

inmates who pursued B.Ed after completing the UG course.

Team Nanmai has been continuously supporting Good

Shepherd old age home since Jan 2012 and bears full

responsibility for their monthly food expenses. Team

Nanmai had written about this home in our last Annual

Newsletter and we are happy to see them progress.

Sapling Planting

In an effort to make real and lasting changes in our

world, we pledge to protect the environment for our

future generations and also to create an awareness of

environmental responsibility amongst us & the

children, we have been planting saplings in

Government schools in and around Chennai.

We spend quality time in explaining the importance of trees in our environment to the

students and motivate and entrust them to take care of the saplings.

Team Nanmai has planted 100 saplings at Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Redhills on 15 Aug

2012 to celebrate the Independence Day

Nanmai conducted it's 9th Annual Blood Donation Camp at

Shakespheare Matriculation School, South Sivan Koil St,

Vadapalani on 9th Dec 2012. The camp had an overwhelming

response with a total of 600 willing donors, out of which 486

units of blood successfully collected by the Govt. Children

Hospital, Egmore and Govt. Maternity Hospital, Egmore.

Team Nanmai, for the fifth consecutive year has now created record for conducting the

largest blood donation camp in a single day camp for the government hospitals. Earlier, we

had 426, 352, 292 and 211 successful donors and in years 2011, 2010, 2009 and 2008

respectively.

Team Nanmai is specially indebted to all the donors and volunteers who participated in the

Annual Blood Donation camp and have made it as one of the most successful and eventful

blood donation camps in Chennai.

Kalpaganur on 15th Oct 2012 and Gem gates

college on 15th Sep 2012. Around 470 & 430

people were benefitted in these camps

respectively.

Team Nanmai is specially indebted to Dr. Agarwal Eye Hospital, Gem Gates College, staff of the

Govt. School and volunteers who participated in these camps and have made it a success!

On 31-July-2012, Alamelu, one of the inmates from Good Shepherd Old age home passed away.

The caretaker Simon had informed Team Nanmai’s Sankar about the incident and Sankar

requested him to donate the eyes of the departed. Despite being late at night and being a very

remote village Sankar and Simon’s tried hard and managed to get doctors from Lion’s club of

Attur and the cornea removal procedure was completed. Eyes will be transplanted to two

visually challenged people as per the priority of registration.
