Nanjing Hexi Riverfront Development

SWA provided urban- and master-planning ser-

vices with an eye toward transforming the Nanjing

Hexi Riverfront into a world-class waterfront des-

tination. The design draws visitors by creating

five vibrant public attractions—including an art

park, a performing arts center, and a commercial

entertainment plaza—that capitalize on the site’s

valued riverfront location. Each public attraction

is complemented with convenient connectivity, a

landscape of remarkable natural and urban beauty,

and compatible commercial development. The

plan also makes provisions for natural resource

preservation and enhancement, including flood

protection and storm-water storage that allows for

safe interaction of people and development with
